I had been using my printer through my linksys router with no problem until I added a password to the linksys. Now I can't print. My computer says it can't "ping" the printer.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI managed to connect my USB printer (and tested ok) through the E3200 router using the Cisco Connect programme on Windows 7. I note that there was an option for a USB Printer connection in the set-up screen.
When I tried it on the Mac using Mac OSX 10.7.3 and Cisco Connect Ver 1.4, I noted that there was no option for a USB Printer connection.
I think I have worked out that you can`t currently connect a usb printer to the usb port on the e4200 in order to share it over the network.
However I have heard reports that this might facility might be enabled in the spring.
I have also heard something about `virtual usb` but I don`t know whether this has anything to do with it.
Just purchased an E900 wireless router and cannot figure out how to connect my Samsung wireless printer. The printer has a WPS button, but the router does not. The router wants me to input information into the Samsung printer, but the printer has no screen, and I cannot find a place to input the router info anywhere in the Samsung software. I am going crazy here...I'm not a techie, but I'm also not a complete technology idiot.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a BEFW11SF V4 firmware version 1.52.03. I just bought an HP DJ3051A and can't get it to connect. HP support says I need to change a setting to mixed mode but I don't see that I can. Does this router supports mixed mode and if so how do I change it?The other comment the HP rep made was the printer does not support Wireless N. I am fine with this since the router says Wireless B. It seems based on the HP rep's comment that as long as I am not using Wireless N, then I should be fine.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an odd problem where every fortnight to three weeks none of my wifi devices (ipap, laptop, 2x android phones) can connect to my network (Linksys E2000, running firmware 1.0.04 with WPA2 personal). They can all see the network and try and connect, but all fail. Rebooting the router has no effect, and the only thing I've found that works is that I have to connect via ethernet cable (which works no problems) and then disable wireless security, save changes, and then immediately reenable wireless security and save changes again. All my devices then will automatically reconnect no problems. It's a bit annoying as my router isn't ideally placed to dig out the cable, but I wondered if there's any way of diagnosing what could be wrong? I've checked the router logs and they're not useful - the only thing I can see of note is in the DHCP log in the period when I suspect the problem arose I get 4 entries of discover / offer / request / ack going to 255.255.255.255 which seems unusual. But the security log is empty so I get nothing from that.

I can access the Linksys webite with the standard IP address and generic password, but I'm not sure what needs to be changed. I've looked at several UTube videos and read some online instructions, but they all different a bit. How I can secure my wireless again? I have an old Toshiba LT that just keeps on tickin'.

The thought is to not have the SSID of the secured network broadcast while allowing the SSID of the Guest network to be broadcast. With the convention of simply adding "Guest" to the end of the SSID for the secured network, it defeats the security option of not having the SSID of the secured network broadcast.

The configuration of the desktop i use is - Windows 7 Home Premium SP 1, IE 9.0 and Chrome -23 Dual core Pentium, 2.5 GHZ, 2GB RAM Issue - Many websites, perticularly secured (HTTPS) are not opening up with new router. (Net banking, yahoo mail etc) I didn't face any issue with my old router which is WRT54GH, it is quite old router and did work excellent and working also. I had two calls with CISCO support team, they did check everything and came to conclusion that the issue is with router and asked to get it replaced. I did that but facing same issue. This time i connected my friends laptop to EA4500 along with my personal desktop. My company laptop has following configuration - Windows 7 Enterprise, IE 8.0 Dual core Pentium, 2.67 GHZ, 2GB RAM I tried yahoo mail, net banking websites on my desktop and friends laptop, these websites didn't open in my desktop but no issues faced on friend's laptop. I also noticed that cisco, apple sites are not opening on my desktop but no issue on friends laptop. I tried same thing with my old router WRT54GH, and all sites opened on both the PCs.

I have used this printer with my laptop (runs Windows xp) by connecting the printer usb directly. I have also connected my laptop to the wireless router. I have plugged the printer into the wireless router's usb port. Is it possible to access the printer this way? I do not know what I should do next. The laptop cannot access the printer through the wireless.
View 5 Replies View RelatedHave a non-wireless printer (HP F4280) and non-wireless Desktop (Dell Dimension 2000). Just added an HP G62 wireless laptop and Cisco Valet+ router. My problem is I want to make the printer wireless but their is only one USB port and no ethernet port. If I put an adaptor into the USB port on the printer to make it wireless, I will of course loose access from my dektop. Can I put a splitter into the printers USB port and use an wireless adaptor plus the cable to the desktop?

My nexus 7 says "authenticating" then says "network saved" then switches back to "authenticating". My friend's phone just gets stuck on "network saved". My iPhone and most other devices, including a different android phone, are in fact able to connect with no problems. I have tried resetting the router, but I am afraid that is all I will be able to do with regards to the router.

When not traveling my laptop connects directly to my company's intranet via a standard Ethernet connection.While on the road I use a wireless modem to pick up hotels wireless Internet. I connect and then log into a VPN to access my email and websites. This has always worked very easily incubus unsecure public routers.
However twice now , and both times on secure wireless I cannot even connect. My laptop easily finds the signal, usually really strong I click to connect and it never passes " validating identity". I know the secure routers password but it never even comes up to ask for it. Like I said it seems like it only happens on secure wireless routers. In this case it's frustrating because it's when I visit family and their home routers are set up secure with password.

Received Windows Security Alert message that my Belkin USB Storage Center (where the printer is listed) was being blocked, and would I like to allow access. I selected "Allow Access". Printer has not been connecting all week. No error messages - it tries to connect, and then just stops. Can't find issues with the router or the printer - only with the firewall. Everything looks the way I assume it should - the printer is listed in the Belkin storage center. The Belkin storage center is listed in the firewall. There is no tech support for the firewall. There is no tech support for the printer.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have had this printer for a while now and I was using it with a Aciontec DSL wifi modem. It connected just fine without any problems via the installation software and a usb cable to initalize. I just swtiched from DSL to a Cable setup. I am using a Motorola "surfboard" SBG901 with built in wifi. It came pre installed with a WPA PSK string. Every time I have tried to connect it would not accept the WPA PSK string and being a legit 8 -63 charcters. I messed around witht he Cable modem settings and eventually decided to turn off all proection for a second to see if I could connect. Sure enough I was able to connect. In my Cable modem settings I have WPA/WPA PSK/WPA 2/WPA2 PSK . When you select either WPA or WPA2 it greys out the WPA PSK and WPA2 PSK selections and vice versa. I am using WPA PSK currently. I tried to switch to WPA but the passcode section was greyed out and had some "radius key section". I am not too familar with network settings just the basics. I used the Dell Wireless connection utility and tried setting up a manual connection by putting in the ssid and what type of protection but it still would not accept the passcode as being a WPA.

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the wireless printer, modem and laptop to tall to one another. Am I missing something or should it all work? The laptop has internet access. The laptop also shows the printer installed with a big green tick next to it but it says it is offline. At no point has a green light appeared on the printer to indicate any wireless connectivity to the modem.

I have tried the following without any luck, uninstalling & re-installing, powering down cable modem/router, changing security settings on router from 64bit wep to 128 wep & WPA/PSK, dell expert taking control of my laptop & trying to connect (which resulted in Dell sending me a new printer because the expert seemed to think it maybe a faulty wireless card in the printer, this is not the case becuase the same problem occurs with the second printer dell have sent me!). I have downloaded & installed the latest drivers for this printer from the dell website & I've switched off my security (anti virus/firewall) when trying to install.
I am completely stuck as to what to try next, the printer works perfectly fine from the USB cable.
I've been using this router for several years with a wireless connection to an iPhone, and wired connections to a computer running Windows Vista, a computer running Windows XP (only connected occasionally and never during these tests), a NetTalk telephone ATA, and a Brother printer. I just got a Windows 8 laptop with wireless. I found that the laptop wouldn't connect wired until I cycled power to the router and rebooted the laptop. OK, that's working to get the laptop to the internet. Vista and iPhone are still working. Printer won't work? Use an IP scanner and the printer is just not there although the light on the router is solid for it. Turn off laptop and cycle power and everything else is back to normal. Let's try wireless. Laptop will not connect. Is it something with the printer? Turn off printer, cycle power, and reboot and laptop wireless now works. Turn on printer and printer doesn't work again. Unplug ATA (hey, it's something to try), cycle power, reboot, everything except telephone is working! Plug ATA back in, no telephone. Cycle power. Back to square one with everything working except laptop. Turn off iPhone, reboot laptop, laptop now OK but printer has disappeared again. Turn iPhone back on and it won't connect either. Cycle power with printer off and everything else works again.

I followed the directions here: Support Page , but my verison of Cisco Connect does not have the option to "connect a USB printer".
I am on a macbook pro running OSX 10.7.4 and my verison of Cisco Connect is 1.4 (12005.2). My router's firmware version is 1.0.30.126544. A screenshot of what I see after clicking "add a device" in Cisco Connect is below. The printer is an HP DeskJet F4280.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've recently purchases a Canon MF3010 Multifunction printer, and connected this to my EA3500 router's USB port. Used Cisco Connect to setup the printer, and the print function is working fine.
The issue is with the scan function. It appears the default functionality of the router is to only activate the connection to the printer when a print job is fired off. When this connection is active, the scan functionality works fine.
Another way to activate the connection to the printer to allow for scanning would be to go through
Cisco Connect>Computers and devices>PrinterWhile the process is running (searching for printer), the connection is active as well, and scanning works fine. When the process is closed, scanning no longer works, with an error message stating that communication to the printer cannot be established.
Is there a simpler way to keep the connection to the printer active, or some sort of configuration to automatically establish this connection for scanning?
I just got a new E4200 v2 wireless router. I'm intrigued by the USB port, especially for using it to connect a printer. I currently have a D-Link wireless print server that I'm using to create a network-attached printer, but if I could remove an extra device and just have the printer connected straight to the router
