D-Link DIR-655 :: Won't Allow Multiple VPN Passthrough
Aug 22, 2011I have a DIR-655_RevB updated with the latest firmware 2.03NA. I have two VPN devices in my house trying to get to my corporate office: a VPN phone and my laptop with a VPN client, both use IPSec. Either device has no problem making a solid VPN connection separate from each other. Meaning that when my laptop is not connected, I can connect the VPN phone with no problem. And when the VPN phone is disconnected, the laptop also has no problem making a solid and stable VPN connection. So I know the router is configured correctly to let thru VPN traffic for either device. i.e. IPSec is enabled, UDP/TCP Endpoint Filtering are both set to Endpoint Independent (and I've tried every other combo), SPI is disabled.
The problem is that I need to have both devices connected simultaneously, which this router is supposed to handle. If I have the VPN phone connected first, then when I launch the laptop VPN client, the VPN phone gets disconnected. I'm assuming that at this point, all VPN traffic is being tunneled back to the laptop. I cannot re-establish the VPN phone connection until I disconnect the laptop client, at which point the VPN phone "automatically" reconnects (meaning I don't have to reboot it, the VPN traffic just somehoe gets redirected back to this device)

I can not figure out how to have two of them running at the same time with open nats, but if one is on then it has a open nat. Also, when I'am on my xbox and my brother on the ps3, his nat is open and mine is moderate. By the way I have uPnP on and have firmware 2.10.

Nov 6, 2011When I connect 2 laptops to my router, why does the speed/connection get split? I would understand that if the speed was maxed out or something but it's a lame 500 kb/s connection. Do all wify routers behave this way? It's kind of annoying since there's a trafic quota limit implemented and when someone downloads, the other one can't do s^&t? how to handle this?

I do not want the desktop and the Tablet networked with each other. there is a Tablet on Newegg: Velocity Micro Cruz Reader R103. the details say it's communication is 802.11b/g Wireless LAN. so I copy and paste that on Newegg and get: D-Link DIR-601 Wireless Broadband Router. not sure if that's what i need or what the configuration would be but I kind of know how to set it up.my question is can I connect a Desktop and a Tablet or any PC device to a router like this with out networking the individual units with each other? just to where it serves as more a splitter. is there any wireless alternatives to only "split" the Internet connection and not network the desktop and Tablet?

Jan 9, 2011Adding a second DAP-1522, They have 1 DAP-1522, they set that up useing the WAP(button on the side), This one is running in the frontroom of the house and the 2nd bridge will be running in the bedroom of the house.She has tried to click on the WAP button on both Dap-1522's and then the router to sync but thats not working, from what we can tell. I think I will need to manually config them now that a second one has been introduced.the frontroom Bridge is 192.168.0.50, but we cant find the ipaddreess for the second dap-1522 at this time. So question to all, if I can - Is there a way to identify all of the Dap-1522's on the network or anything that is connected on the network. as the DIR-655 is only showing 2 things connected?Right now I wish she would have listened too me and had her house wired for ethernet when the house was being built.

Dec 28, 2012For the last several months, but progressively worse, my internet drops due to the DNS Server not responding. This happens across my whole network and the only fix I can come up with is to reset the router every time it does this. At this point I am thinking a new router is in order (but do not have the money atm), I am using a D-Link DIR-625 V. C1 Firmware 3.08 router and a Motorola SB6120 modem. Is there another permanent fix for this problem is or my router on it's last legs? Would setting a new DNS Server on my router work?

Feb 9, 2012I have a Mac, and my wife has a PC running Windows 7. Since we moved into our new house, our Dlink DIR-601 does not seem to want to send Wi-Fi to both computers at the same time. One of the computers always seems to lag or not have internet connection at all. The Mac also seems to work better and more often than the PC when both are trying to access wi-fi.
I have messed with the channel settings, security, and most other typical settings on the router to no avail. Is there a setting I'm missing or should I enable certain settings that will allow both computers to have the same signal strength and reliability.

I am having problems with my TL-MR3420 router, it disconnects WIFI all the time. This occur several times a day and is very annoying.
I have quite recently upgraded to the latest firmware but the problem seem not to have been resolved. It also seem that it is mostly the WIFI service that is the problem. The usage of wired routing is working even when the WIFI is disabled.

In testing set-up for ftp and email, while observing results in a browser on the Mac, and also MyDlink app on an iPad, I observe that a few jpegs get sent to email, a few to ftp, and MyDlink keeps "timing out". My Mac is wired gigabit ethernet to the router, and the wireless LAN is 802.11n.
Maybe it can't handle multiple destinations?
Does MyDlink cause continued transmissions at the video frame rate set in the setup panel, even if no one is connected to look.

Aug 30, 2011I have 8 apartments that have a single internet connection coming into the building, I then have a PoE Access Point in each of the 8x apartments.
What I would like to be able to do is to have each apartment within its own vlan, but to be able to use the internet via one of the non-PoE ports (port 9 say) but do not want residents in different flats to be able to see each others devices on the same network.
I have a Cisco SG 300-10MP which has 8x PoE ports and 2x Ethernet ports, one of which my Internet connection is plugged into (using WiMax).

I'm using parental controls to block all devices in the house from using tumblr. I cannot do this at a device by device level as it is being used on iphones/androids, laptops and desktops.Unfortunately, the way that tumblr works is that it use many URLs for the different pages people set up so it is not just a case of blocking url... - so I'm struggling to work out if I can do this via URL blocking on the router settings. How to do this at router level.

Oct 21, 2012how i can configure a second ssid for guest access in our environment. this is our network setup prior to this request: Internet----Firewall (not ASA)---ce520---C1131AG and CME router is also connecting to the ce520 switch. we only have two vlans: one for voice and two for data.
Presently, there is no vlan configured on the AP because it on broadcasting ont ssid and wireless users gets IP from a windows DHCP server on the LAN. the configuration on the ce520 switch port for the AP and other switches say access vlan is the DATA vlan which automatically becomes the native vlan for all trunk port connecting the AP and other Stiches to the network.
Now with this new requirement, i have made my research and i have configured the AP to broadcast both the production and the guest Vlans. The two vlans are 20-DATA and 60-Guest. I made the DATA vlan on the AP the native vlan since the poe switch is using the DATA vlan as native on the trunk ports. I configured the firewall to serve as DHCP server for the guest ssid and i have added the ip helper-address on the guest vlan interface on all switches while the windows server remains the dhcp server for the production DATA Vlan. I have confirmed that the AP, switches can ping the default gateway of the guest dhcp server which is another interface on the firewall. I can now see and connect to all broadcasted ssids but the problem is I am not getting IP addresses from both the production dhcp server and guest dhcp server when i connected to the ssid one at a time. My AP config is attached below.
Do i need to redesign the whole network to have a native vlan other nthan the data vlan? Does the access point need to be aware of the voice vlan? Do the native Vlan on the AP need to be in Bridge-group 1 or can i leave it in bridge-group 20?

May 13, 2013I am trying to build a new network from scratch, I have the WLC 5508 w/ Aironet 3600e APs connected to my Netgear Smart Switches and a Linksys RV082 router that I'm using as my DHCP server with several VLANs for several stuff on my Switches.
I have 2 questions:
1. Can I have 5 Interfaces configured on 5 different VLANs, each SSID on each a different Port:
Port 1: Controller management only=> 192.168.x.x /24
Port 2: SSID 1: WiFi Internal=> 172.16.x.x/12 (Radius Auth with no sharing)
Port 3: SSID 2: WiFi Internal w/ sharing=> 192.168.x.x/24 (Radius Auth with sharing)
Port 4 :SSID 3: WiFi Guest=> 10.0.x.x/8 (Web Auth)
Port 5: SSID 4: WiFi IT=> 192.168.x.x/24 ( Radius or certificate Auth with access to the controller management interface)
2. How can I use the Controller as the DHCP server for all the WiFi traffic, and how should that be configured to work with my other DHCP server?

I have buildings geographically dispersed that are configured with multiple vlans in interface groups so that I can maintain an addressing scheme of dhcp assigned addresses per building. Each building is also further grouped as AP groups. I'd like to know if by assigning the same wlan ssid to each of the AP groups, will I maintain addressing integrity for each building? I'm thinking it will work.
Do the buildings have to be outside AP range of each other to avoid problems?

Nov 9, 2011Am trying to understand how we can have multiple IP addresses on a single NIC and what are the restrictions on the same. If i can have two IPs from two different networks present on a single NIC, then why would i ever get a new NIC?
Also, i want to understand the concept of virtual IP and how it fits into this picture.

Network 1(Public) works fine as i don't want them to access Network 2.Here's how it is setup.

Multiple Computers With Same IP?
Jul 21, 2011I have 4 computer, all with them IP address. There is nothing I can do about this. I'd like to access them each via a 5th computer. Originally I thought I can connect each of the 4 computers to 4 different routers and then use NAT to convert their IP address's to 4 unique ones. When I actually applied this solution, the 5th computer was not able to ping the converted IP address. This method either does not work, or I did not config the router correctly. I was using a Cisco RV016 out of the box, and added NAT entries into it's table.

Mar 1, 2012I have 4 computers with 3 LAN cards (1 onboard + 2 PCI) installed on each of the machines. One of the machines run Windows Server 2008 and other 3 run Windows XP. I am trying to simulate routing on these desktops. I have connected all the machines in a mesh topology. Please refer to the image attached. I am able to ping all the 3 machines from the server machine. However when I try to ping the machines from the client PC running XP, it is able to ping only one machine connected to it. All the network cards on the client machine running XP show that they are connected (in control Panel-> network connections). But ping packet shows only one host is reachable. The other two network cards(that are not able to ping other machines) are showing red light. I am not able to get over this.
