Cisco WAN :: 3845 HSRP With Multiple Interfaces / Groups
Jan 24, 2011I have 2 routers ( Cisco 3845's) both running identical IOS's. Each router has identical 5 networks on it with one network each being different.I have HSRP set up on the identical 5 networks.Your standard Fail over senario.ON one of the routers one network is not seeing the other router in the same network, Will not Ping or traceroute.And HSRP stopped working ( both were thinking they were active. which of course brought the network to a halt. Non of the interfaces has any ACL on them, They are plugged into a Brand new Cisco 3560v2 switch. I have switches out the cables to eliminate that as an issues.

Oct 21, 2012how i can configure a second ssid for guest access in our environment. this is our network setup prior to this request: Internet----Firewall (not ASA)---ce520---C1131AG and CME router is also connecting to the ce520 switch. we only have two vlans: one for voice and two for data.
Presently, there is no vlan configured on the AP because it on broadcasting ont ssid and wireless users gets IP from a windows DHCP server on the LAN. the configuration on the ce520 switch port for the AP and other switches say access vlan is the DATA vlan which automatically becomes the native vlan for all trunk port connecting the AP and other Stiches to the network.
Now with this new requirement, i have made my research and i have configured the AP to broadcast both the production and the guest Vlans. The two vlans are 20-DATA and 60-Guest. I made the DATA vlan on the AP the native vlan since the poe switch is using the DATA vlan as native on the trunk ports. I configured the firewall to serve as DHCP server for the guest ssid and i have added the ip helper-address on the guest vlan interface on all switches while the windows server remains the dhcp server for the production DATA Vlan. I have confirmed that the AP, switches can ping the default gateway of the guest dhcp server which is another interface on the firewall. I can now see and connect to all broadcasted ssids but the problem is I am not getting IP addresses from both the production dhcp server and guest dhcp server when i connected to the ssid one at a time. My AP config is attached below.
Do i need to redesign the whole network to have a native vlan other nthan the data vlan? Does the access point need to be aware of the voice vlan? Do the native Vlan on the AP need to be in Bridge-group 1 or can i leave it in bridge-group 20?

May 13, 2013I am trying to build a new network from scratch, I have the WLC 5508 w/ Aironet 3600e APs connected to my Netgear Smart Switches and a Linksys RV082 router that I'm using as my DHCP server with several VLANs for several stuff on my Switches.
I have 2 questions:
1. Can I have 5 Interfaces configured on 5 different VLANs, each SSID on each a different Port:
Port 1: Controller management only=> 192.168.x.x /24
Port 2: SSID 1: WiFi Internal=> 172.16.x.x/12 (Radius Auth with no sharing)
Port 3: SSID 2: WiFi Internal w/ sharing=> 192.168.x.x/24 (Radius Auth with sharing)
Port 4 :SSID 3: WiFi Guest=> 10.0.x.x/8 (Web Auth)
Port 5: SSID 4: WiFi IT=> 192.168.x.x/24 ( Radius or certificate Auth with access to the controller management interface)
2. How can I use the Controller as the DHCP server for all the WiFi traffic, and how should that be configured to work with my other DHCP server?

1) i`m not able to broadcast the both SSIDs in the same time from the Access point

Feb 15, 2011I have a ADSL and ESHDSL service being delivered to a client site and then using HSRP to ensure that ADSL is provided first and ESHDSL will take over after. The ESHDSL is dedicated for DVTIs to branch offices and that works fine, however I want to provide redundancy for incoming services such as SMTP/RDP etc. but when I forward these ports or a direct IP NAT traffic can only flow if directed to the ADSL service because HSRP is masking the route back and since it came in on the ESHDSL router the ADSL router does not know what to do with the traffic and hence drops it.
How to make it so both routers can port forward with HSRP?

I placed an inbound and outbound ACL on the same interface on both of these routers specifying to "permit ip any host 224.0.0.2" Why am I only seeing counters ticking for the inbound ACL of both of these routers? Is it an order of operations thing?

Dec 6, 2011I have a pair of physical ASR 1002 routers, called ASR-1 and ASR-2. I setup HSRP on both ASR-1 and ASR-2 on both g0/0/0 and g0/0/1 interfaces, nothing complicated, just straight forward HSRP.
Now Cisco TAC told me that HSRP is NOT supported between physical ASR routers. WTF!
Furthermore, they told me that HSRP only supported within a single ASR because of multiple routed processors. In other words, you can setup HSRP with a single physical ASR but not with two physical ASR routers.
HSRP can not supported with two physical ASR routers?

The issue that we are experimenting is that, although the module's interfaces are up and HSRP in correctly configured, the show standby summary displays that the Active router is local in both routers. We also have some GigabitEthernet in the routers and they are correctly running HSRP. Does the WLC Modules physically support HSRP?

Apr 24, 2012i have a 6509 connected via layer 2 (VLAN1) to a 3750 (e.g. VLAN1 10.1.1.1)then to the HQ via Metroethernet(L3). Is it possible to connect the 6509 to an ASA that already has VPN connectivity to the HQ using HSRP? Also need to mention, the VPN connection is supposed to be the redundant connection if Metroethernet link fails.

Nov 13, 2012I have the following topology:
2x 877 routers, one interface from each router (port Fa0 which belongs to the router internal switch) is connected to the 2960 switch, the switch himself configured with default settings, flat with one v LAN.
I have configured HSRP in the following manner: router A is 10.0.0.2, router B is 10.0.0.3, virtual IP is 10.0.0.1, take note that the HSRP configuration along with the IP address are configured on vlan1 interface.
Now when i connect a PC to the switch with static IP (10.0.0.4) and trying to ping 10.0.0.1 I'm not getting replies. i see on the PC, using wire shark, the icmp request goes out but on the primary router (and also on the backup) i can't see the icmp request (using debug ip icmp).
this behavior happens only when the HSRP is configured on interface vlan1, when configuring the same configuration on Fa4 (which is WAN interface) everything works fine.

May 9, 2011I just inherited a network which has 7 switches (3750s) as a Stack. In there, there are 5 SVI (switch virtual interfaces) and in each of these VLANs, HSRP is configured.
Question:Is HSRP really needed in a Stack configuration?If so, what are the benefits?Can I simply clean-up the config and remove HSRP?

Mar 21, 2011last weekend i configured HSRP on our default gateway(Cisco 2600) and now i have the problem that the latency is constantly at 3ms and from time to time it goes up to 10 ms. Is that something i should have expected or is there someting wrong with my configuration? The standby ip adresses are the same adresses as the router interfaces had before and the CPU utilization is at 10 % so i do not know what happend here. We have two numbers of Cisco 4900 ME Switches. Basically want LAN failover from these devices. There are about 400 users in our network. I have attached rough network topology for your reference(I am not good at Microsoft Visio). Need to know implementation of the HSRP in these switches. Feb 27, 2013I have configure multiple vlans on both the core swithces below is the example, my question is how will be my VTP server configuration on the 3560E since both the core switches will have identical vlans HSRP 2 configured on them. Do I have to configure both the cores with same DOMAIN NAME ?
The core has VTP 2 so I cannot use primary and secondary option.

Cisco Switching/Routing :: 3560x / HSRP On LAN And WAN Interface?
May 9, 2012I currently use L3 switches as edge routers to my WAN. I want to use a pair of 3560x switches with IPbase to provide a failover path to my WAN using HSRP at one location but had some problems testing the configuration. My plan is use a virtual address on the LAN interface (VLANx which port gi0/1 accesses) and the WAN interface (VLANy which port gi0/24 accesses). I want switch 1 to be primary since it will have an IPS attached to it, and switch 2 will be backup and used only when switch 1 or the IPS requires maintenance. On both the LAN and WAN sides there is no advanced routing going on, the various hosts just depend on the availability of their respective default gateways, so HSRP should be sufficient to provide a failover in either direction.
In my testing I got 1 or the other link to fail over but not the entire switch. What should my config look like to achieve failover of the entire switch in the event 1 or the other interface goes down, and fail back when the primary links are again available?
