currently my organization is connected to internet through a checkpoint cluster directly connected to ISP router.I'd like to use both links, placing a brand new 2 cisco router between Checkpoint and ISP routers.

I am not entering this command. So far, it has not shown up on the companion 3725 router. I have a 2nd vlan I have just created and the problem hasn't shown up for that vlan as yet.Using C3725-ADVSECURITYK9-M), Version 12.4(15)T7, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc3) on the routers.
We have our WAN setup as explained in the attachment herewith. As of now, We have a IP 1 configured as HSRP IP in the LAN switch end at Site A and Site B. As per the HSRP priority, Site A's WAN router will preempt to be the Active WAN router. 1*1Gig link at both DCs connect to the respectve WAN router.
But with this setup, we experience a WAN outage whenever there is a link disconect at Site A - as HSRP fails over from Active to Standby(Site B) and again when the link at Site gets restored. To avoid this :

I would like to make a design with 4 Nexus 5596UP. 2 of them equipped with Layer 3 Expansion Module so they can serve as core layer and the other 2 Nexus used as Layer 2 for aggregation server layer.The 2 Nexus in the core layer will run HSRP and will peer with ISP via BGP for Internet connection The 2 Nexus in the aggregation layer will be configured as layer 2 device and have FEX and switches connected to them.What I am ensure of is how the vpc and port-channel configuration should look like between the 4 nexus. What I was thinking is to run vpc between the 2 Nexus in the aggregation layer and between the 2 Nexus in the core layer. Than I was thinking of connecting each Nexus in the aggragtion layer to both Nexus in the core layer using port-channel and vice-versa.
View 3 Replies View Relatedhow to change our wireless setup. Currently, we have 2 Cisco AiroNet 1130 WAP's in the office that go directly into the 2 POE ports on our Cisco ASA 5500. These WAP's have 1 SSID and are using WEP for security. After demonstrating the flaws of WEP to my boss, he has agreed that we should use something more secure and I've suggested WPA. We want visitors to our office to be able to hop on our wireless but on a separate guest SSID with WEP.
I'd like the internal SSID to route to the ASA and take the default route to the internet (it will be our new fiber connection once it's installed in a couple weeks). The default route is whichever connection is working since our ASA 5500 will fail over when it detects an outage.
I'd like the guest SSID to route to the ASA and then go over our existing cable connection. This connection will be our backup once the fiber connection is installed. Since we won't be using it very often, but will be paying for it, I advised that we send all guest wireless traffic over this connection since 50/5 is plenty for guests.
The current SSID (which will be the internal SSID) has no VLAN. We do currently have a few VLANS on our network, one for voice (.42) and one for data (.100) and the default (.0). What device to I create the VLAN on (Cisco 5500?) and how to I setup the WAP? I need very basic instructions to start and I'm also trying to do this without causing downtime if possible.
I've attached a diagram of what it should look like. Red indicates our internal network and Blue indicates the guest network. I can send screenshots as well.
I wanted to ask a question about the diagram I have included. We are bringing up 2 MPLS WAN connections and would like some specifics on the best design. We are using BGP to the providers. From there we have big questions. We can run BGP internal and are licensed to do so on the N5K's. The N5Ks are currently using HSRP for inside LAN clients as default gateway. We want to load balance and provide redundant routes using a dynamic approach. Should we use BGP internal utilizing the connections between the routers? Should we use HSRP on the routers? How best to get the routes to the N5K and should we be considering this?

I was even able to create VPN connection with 2 WAN connection on one Router and 1 WAN connection on another with Smart link failover and VPN Tunel Backup.
I got problem though when i tried more complex connection diagram. [URL]
So basically I now have 2 ISP connections on each point with Static IPs and I'd like VPN Connection to be alive for ALL 4 options automatically with failovers (smart links) And tunel backups but i'm not sure if that's ever possible with my equipment.

View 19 Replies View RelatedI have a ADSL and ESHDSL service being delivered to a client site and then using HSRP to ensure that ADSL is provided first and ESHDSL will take over after. The ESHDSL is dedicated for DVTIs to branch offices and that works fine, however I want to provide redundancy for incoming services such as SMTP/RDP etc. but when I forward these ports or a direct IP NAT traffic can only flow if directed to the ADSL service because HSRP is masking the route back and since it came in on the ESHDSL router the ADSL router does not know what to do with the traffic and hence drops it.
How to make it so both routers can port forward with HSRP?
i have verizon DSL. Their newest router, the westell 7500, and their older one, the westell 327w. I want to setup a home network. I have heard there is a way to have these 2 routers connect wirelessly (one threw the other) so that i can hook up direct tv dvr to the internet w/out running a long cable.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a pair of physical ASR 1002 routers, called ASR-1 and ASR-2. I setup HSRP on both ASR-1 and ASR-2 on both g0/0/0 and g0/0/1 interfaces, nothing complicated, just straight forward HSRP.
Now Cisco TAC told me that HSRP is NOT supported between physical ASR routers. WTF!
Furthermore, they told me that HSRP only supported within a single ASR because of multiple routed processors. In other words, you can setup HSRP with a single physical ASR but not with two physical ASR routers.
HSRP can not supported with two physical ASR routers?

The issue that we are experimenting is that, although the module's interfaces are up and HSRP in correctly configured, the show standby summary displays that the Active router is local in both routers. We also have some GigabitEthernet in the routers and they are correctly running HSRP. Does the WLC Modules physically support HSRP?
i have a 6509 connected via layer 2 (VLAN1) to a 3750 (e.g. VLAN1 10.1.1.1)then to the HQ via Metroethernet(L3). Is it possible to connect the 6509 to an ASA that already has VPN connectivity to the HQ using HSRP? Also need to mention, the VPN connection is supposed to be the redundant connection if Metroethernet link fails.

I'm networking a clients home and he specifically wants dual-band wifi through-out. Now he has a fairly large 3 story house, and wanted to place an access point on the top floor to be assured he'll have strong and reliable signal. He's going to have multiple TV's wired into the network, as well as computers, laptops, phones, a Xbox 360 and a PS3. Were using Gigabit switches and a D-link Simultaneous Dual-band Gigabit router.The modem, router, and main 16 port switch will be in his basement in a semi-server room. He currently has 12 lines run throughout his house, 3 to the top floor, 5 to the main floor, and the ability to lay some in the basement if he needs. The 16port switch will plug into the router, I'm also putting an 8 port into the router from the main and top floor. The remaining lines will plug into the switch in the basement. On the top floor I was going to install an AP or Router turned into an AP into the 8port switch.Now the only reason I am considering using a router instead of just getting an AP, is that neither of us can find a simultaneous Dual-band AP. It seems the only simultaneous DB out there is in routers. So, my question is, will I be able to easily use a router as an AP AND get simultaneous Dual-band out of it if I do so? Is there a Simultaneous Dual-band AP on the market that would a better investment?

Since the House is large 1 Router does not have the Signal strength to cover it all.I have a second wireless Router , a Spare Lan switch and 150ft Ethernet Cord to connect everything.
This all leads me to think that I missed some setting on Router 1.Though I cant figure out what I missed. As i said My Laptop is getting and IP and connected through the Cat 5 cable just fine. Should Router 2 not be able to simply pull an IP from the IP pool Router 1 and use Router 1 as its default Gateway?
I use a Netgear Dual band router and it works great. I was messing with a PC i bult and screwed something up(of course) I couldn't get a strong signal on either band. I have a Belkin wireless N router that I dont use, can I use it to boost my signal?

i've searched the cisco product line looking for a simple router that many of my small to medium size clients can benefit from .Most of these clients have approx. 40 - 75 users and they have standard T1 Connections for Internet as well as a secondary Internet provider utilizing broadband ( cable )
i would like to find them a cisco series router that can provide both load balancing to maximize the speed from both ISP's and - provide automatic fail-over / business continuity in the event one of their Internet lines goes down.
i see that the 800 series router provides business continuity but it doesn't appear that is suitable for my situation ( T1 / broadband cable ) not DSL.don't want to spend 5k on something that is overkill b/c again, these are relatively small offices ( 40- 75 users max )

I have a 857w and a 857 router but there doesnt seem to be any HSRP and VLAn support on either router. I have ADVsevcurity on the routers

I have the following topology:
2x 877 routers, one interface from each router (port Fa0 which belongs to the router internal switch) is connected to the 2960 switch, the switch himself configured with default settings, flat with one v LAN.
I have configured HSRP in the following manner: router A is 10.0.0.2, router B is 10.0.0.3, virtual IP is 10.0.0.1, take note that the HSRP configuration along with the IP address are configured on vlan1 interface.
Now when i connect a PC to the switch with static IP (10.0.0.4) and trying to ping 10.0.0.1 I'm not getting replies. i see on the PC, using wire shark, the icmp request goes out but on the primary router (and also on the backup) i can't see the icmp request (using debug ip icmp).
this behavior happens only when the HSRP is configured on interface vlan1, when configuring the same configuration on Fa4 (which is WAN interface) everything works fine.
