D-Link DIR-615 :: Dropping Wireless But Wired Remains Stable With Galaxy Nexus
Feb 11, 2012
My DIR-615 FW:2.25 HW:B2 has been running totally stable and reliably ever since it was purchased until very recently.
I have been running my entire house wireless with the following setup...
Cable Internet 25Mib down/2Mib up
Desktop PC (ASUS M32N-sli Deluxe w/integrated Realtek RTL8187 Wireless 802.11b/g 54Mbps USB 2.0 Network Adapter) Latest drivers on Win 7
Laptop PC (Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN) latest drivers, on Vista
Wii
Samsung Galaxy Infuse 4G
Everything was fine until my roommate bought a Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Now I randomly lose wireless connection to every device on the network. Default gateway 192.168.0.1 becomes unreachable... resetting the router restores connectivity...
Very interesting to note is the fact that while wireless communication with the router fails, wired connections remain active with fully functional internet access.

After 5 years of services my DIR-655 begun acting up yesterday; first of it begun by getting REALLY slow, it could take up to 25 seconds to login into the software and up to 30+ seconds just going from one menu to another, on some instances connection (wired) to the router was lost. This morning it started dropping all connections, wired or not; first my iphone then my WDTV, after that it's been pretty much random connections. On one given moment wired works but not wireless, then wireless works but not wired and sometimes I get both but for 3 or 4 minutes.I've reset the router to factory settings, plugged/unplugged, changed cables, network adapters on desktops and the problem persists.

FW: 1.35

I setup a D-Link DIR-825, VB1, Firmware V2.00NA about a month ago. We have 3 Macs here at home - 1 brand new iMac, a G4 Powerbook, and an old G4 / 933 Tower. The G4 tower is connected via ethernet. The other two through Wi-Fi. My problem is that I can barely use the internet for even a few minutes on the G4 tower, connected via Ethernet, without losing my connection. I can be in the middle of loading a page or an image, and suddenly it will say "Waiting for xxx.com". Then if I try to go to Google.com or something I will invariably get "Looking up xxx.com". The connection usually returns on it's own, but it can take up to 3 or 5 minutes. When I get this message on the ethernet G4 tower, I will also have lost connection on the wireless Macs. For the first couple of weeks the tower was not connected and we were just using the two wireless Macs, and they were working well. It seems that as soon as I hooked up the G4 tower via ethernet, connections became very flaky and intermittent all of a sudden. All the Macs are configured for DHCP. We have a Time Warner cable modem. The G4 tower had previously been used at my office with it's own dedicated DSL modem / router, and it worked flawlessly for months at a time without dropping a connection. I've tried rebooting the modem, then the router, then turning all the Macs back on, several times. Same result. I just tried loading the new firmware but it didn't work. Said the Gateway was too crowded or something.

The note 2 can connect with the router if I have the router set to open but when I change the security to anything else it keeps re-authenticating and will not connect.
Have only been using the wired before and it works great but now need to connect note 2 to do backups. I have even tried resetting the router back to factory settings and turning on WiFi again and no luck.

About two weeks ago, my internet connection became faster. I am not sure if it has to do with my cable ISP doing something or something I did with my computer.
Right around the same time, my connection began disconnecting every two or three days. Before this, I had a rock solid connection for two years.
It will usually reconnect after a minute. Otherwise, when I boot my computer, the problem is solved.
I am certain there is a correlation between the connection speed going up and my connection becoming less stable.

I bought a DIR-655 today so i can port trigger to all my xbox's instead of only being able to port forward to 1 xbox from my Netgear CGD24N. My problem is setting up a stable network that wont drop out.
What i am trying to set up: Internet --> Modem (Netgear CGD24N) <---> Router <---> Everything else (2 Xbox's, 5 Computers, Phone's)
I have one ethernet cord from my netgear to the internet port in my D-Link. Is that correct?
They are both set to DHCP as that is the only way i have been able to create a network that i can connect to the net through my router. Problem is it is constantly reconnecting and only getting speeds of 2mb dl and 1mb up. (I should be getting speeds of 30mb dl, 2mb up.)

I've had the DIR-655 for a few months now, along with a Motorola Surfboard sb6121 DOCSIS 3.0.Modem works fine, the router was working perfectly fine until recently last week.
I have a desktop hardwired and a wireless network going on that I use just for my mobile phone and tablet at times. At first I was having disconnection problems with my wireless, then noticed a neighbor installed a similar router in the area according to my wifi analyzer, so I changed the channels and my wireless started working great. During this process I also did a firmware update and since then I've been receiving some really poor browsing problems, sometimes I'll visit websites like Facebook, or a news website, and it'll say something about the DNS not working, (at this point I'll ping the website and it still pings fine without any loss) so I'll visit the website about 10 minutes later and it works great. I've done extensive research on forums/Google and found it must link up to the new firmware update and something about a DNS relay? My version is: Hardware Version: B1 Firmware Version: 2.10NA
In other words, is there a way I can fix this issue from disconnecting without having to downgrade back to the old firmware? Or is this a common issue they'll continue to happen? If I do downgrade, HOW do I downgrade back to the stable version?

I just got a Samsung Galaxy S4. As I have always done with all of my devices that connect wirelessly, I went into the D-Link software and added my phone's MAC address to the network filter list. The security settings are WPA/WPA2. When I try to connect, the phone is able to see my Wi-Fi network, and it asks for my password, which I enter. It keeps trying to connect, but then it says an "authentication error occurred." I have checked and triple-checked the password, and it is correct. I have also checked and triple-checked the MAC address, and it is correct. I have rebooted the router and the phone several times each.

My brother got a samsung galaxy s captivate yesterday to replace his pos iphone 3g on Rogers Wireless. He wants to connect to the Dlink DIR-615's wifi to cut down on the data usage while at home on his 500mb per month data plan the ssid and the password are fine, but it hangs on the message "obtaining IP address..." which then after a while refuses to continue to connect and labels the connection "disabled"... the connection type is WPA2 AES something or other so as to guarantee wireless N connections for the xbox and my pc (the ps3 doesn't really do everything, it only does G not N lol)...
I am not familiar with the phone as it's not mine (someday maybe...) so maybe there is a setting i missed. I do know the router is not mac address restricted (meaning only certain computers are allowed to connect).

I connected my camera to my router with a network cable. It is a DCS-2121, H/W Ver A2, with firmware 1.04_FR.It received an IP address and I could access it fine with a web browser. Then I configured it to work wireless.I disconnected the cable but the camera wasn't accessible.Since I couldn't find it I re-attached it with a network cable, but this didn't work.So I pressed the Reset button to start over again. However, now I cannot get it to work anymore. When I plug in the camera and have it connected with a network cable to the router the status light remains RED.When I plug it in without a network cable the status led remains RED.When I connect it with a network cable to a computer directly, the status led remains RED.I've tried changing the network settings of my router to use 192.168.0.x as range, but it makes no difference. In all cases the status indicator remains RED.

I lost all Internet connnecitivity on my Linksys e3000. After determining that my cable modem was connected and working correctly, I pulled the e3000 and put my old wrv54g router in place. Wireless worked, but all wired connections showed link but no other apparent connectivity. Neither of my desktops could get a DHCP lease.
At that point, I purchased and manually installed a new e4200 router. All worked fine. Both laptops connected via wireless and both desktops via my house LAN. Until this morning (Monday). Wireless is working just fine, but both wired computers show 100 Mbs connections on an unknown network with no DHCP. Checking status shows packets going out, but nothing coming in. Checking LAN status on the router shows that both ports are connected, but it does not appear to receive anything from either desktop. All was fine last night. Oh, the router is on 1.0.03 firmware.
I have tried about everything I can think of. Configurations both on the router and the desktops (one Windows XP, 64 bit and one Windows 7) and all seems fine. I have disabled and reenabled the network connectors, rebooted both the router and the computers, etc. Nothing seems to work.

I just had Comcast setup my internet and it is really fast. 30 down, 10 up, 40 ping, my connection to my computer (wireless) is very fast and my online gaming (wired) is not laggy at all.The problem lies with the connection dropping when I am online gaming. I connected directly to the modem and there's no problem at all. I connect to my Linksys EA3500 and once I start playing in an online game, I disconnect from Xbox Live and am dropped from the game... anywhere from right away until about 10-15 minutes into the game. This is the only time where my connection falters at all, otherwise it is great. But I play online a lot, and competitively, so I obviously need a stable connection.I have not had this issue with my previous ISP in New York, Time Warner and that connection was much worse. I'm thinking it must be a setting on the router that is causing this, but I can't pinpoint what. I tried automatic AND static connections from my xbox to the router. On the static connection, I even put a DMZ on it, but to no avail.

It's been working absolutely fine for me for nearly two years and all of a sudden it doesn't want to connect anymore. When I turn it on it will connect to the wireless network and stay connected for five minutes tops before disconnecting. Sometimes the wireless network is still being detected, sometimes not, but when I click on it to reconnect it rarely does (and when it does, it will sure enough disconnect again in no time). All other devices in the house stay connected and work fine; it is only my laptop that has issues. I took my laptop to another house and it has the exact same issues so it's definitely the laptop itself and not the routers.I live in Pakistan and my broadband provider for this household is Wi-Tribe. I don't know the type of broadband it is. I have no Anti-Virus apart from Microsoft Security Essentials.

My BT Home Hub Router needs to be reset regulary when I unplug my wired connection and change to wireless 1704 on a 3 month old Inspiron Laptop (i5, 8Mb).
I assumed that the wireless connection would be disconnected when I connect to the wired connected. And then when I disconnect the wired connection (when I move to another room), I assumed that the wireless connection would automatically connect. If I manually turn off the 1704 wireless adapter (Function F2) and just leave the laptop connected to the wired UTP connection, then then router is fine - but I dont have a mobile device. I have just re-ordered the connections so that the Local Area Connection (Realtek) is the first in the list and then the(Local Area connection 2 (Broadcom virtual, I dont know what this is) then the WIreless Dell 1704 b/g/n (Broadcom)
I can not find how to disconnect the wireless adapter automatically when I connect to UTP. I know that I can switch off the manually by Function F2, but would prefer not to. Would this prvide the solution, and how do I do it?

My wireless from my Linksys E2000 router NEVER works. I've tried the same things and I have also tried to change the Advanced wireless settings, none of these things worked. When I unplug the energy cable from my router for ~15 secs, I sometimes can connect to a Wireless signal, this signal remains for about 30 seconds and is then gone again. This happens even if I'm standing right next to my router.I have no idea what the problem is, even I find this story very unbelievable, but I have tried everything I could and still we never have Wireless

Basically for no apparent reason one day when I came home several weeks ago my wired internet connection has become almost unusable. The connection to the internet severs every couple of minutes, sometimes every few seconds. The only way to get my connection back is to either wait around half an hour and it fixes itself, or to use the ''diagnose connection problems'' in the INternet Explorer tools menu. For some reason this tool fixes the problem nearly everytime, how often I have to use this tool and wait for the internet. I cannot download many important things I need as the connection keeps severing and the download is 'interrupted' (within Google Chrome).I first tried reformatting my whole system, but to no avail. I am running a fresh installation of Windows XP service Pack 3.
I have a cable running from my wall (ADSL conection I believe) that connects into a router. This router is then connected to ANOTHER router via a blue network cable (Im not quite sure the reason for this my step-dad had it set up like this when I moved here. I think it is because the 2nd router does not have a jack that fits the ADSL line coming from the wall). I am wired directly from my computer into the first router. I have tried connecting to the other router to no avail. Chrome generally tells me that there is a DNS error when I try to load a page and the connection drops out. [code] Could it be a faulty router, faulty cables, or a software issue? I have the latest network adapter installed and power save mode is switched OFF. I would like to know if replacing the cables/router would fix things.

I have an Ubuntu box, 11.04 x64, running on a Dual Opteron SFF box (iWill ZMaxDP... pretty old machine). Up until a few weeks ago, it was acting as a Windows 2008 Server, but i moved it to Ubuntu.
Anyway, the machine will not stay on the network for any amount of time, without falling off... I have changed network cards, cables, ports on the switch, etc, and nothing seems to work. I have a Windows 2003 box giving out DHCP addresses, and for a while, i actually tured that off and setup a second Ubuntu box to give IPs... it made no difference. The box gets an IP, and can ping outside for a bit (2 min or so) and then just looses connectivity... ifconfig shows it with an IP (i have tried both Static and DHCP config) and nothing seems to work.Restarting the network stack (/etc/init.d/networking restart) some times gets a connection working for a few min, but then it falls over again..
Just to note, the main onboard network card is not showing up for some reason. I have an Intel Dual GigE PCI card installed. Eth2 is the "Working" interface, an ETH3 is not connected to anything.... Also, this is probably the first time since i installed the machine that the connection is staying up.

I have a Belkin 8236-4 v2 I got from Belkin because they RMA'd a 6 yearold Pre-N that kicked the bucket. I've been having a hassle trying to get my connection stable. At first I thought it was because the DHCP was causing anything connected to the router to conflict, so I set one of the PCs on the network outside the DHCP range with a static IP and gave it the Google DNS, while this worked for my PS3(connected wirelessly) it did not solve the problem with this PC. I've looked around on the internet for the past few days trying to fix it, and tried several things, but no avail. I'm beginning to think I may need to just buy a whole new router from another company, because after reading reviews on this router I got, it seems to be a big problem for a lot of people, while it seems to happen on a number of other brand routers as well, so I don't want to give up on this thing just yet.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525. At home wired/wireless internet works perfectly. At school I have to keep the laptop, wired because the wireless signal isn't strong enough. I have a brand new ethernet cable and have tried others and for some reason my internet always loses connection after a few minutes. It works as soon as I unplug the ethernet cable from my laptop and plug it back in, but then fails again shortly after. When I try diagnose and repair, it says I need to reset the network adapter, and when I click on that option it starts working again for a few minutes but loses connection shortly after.

I have my RVS-4000 configured using static IP addresses in the LAN configuration. The users use DHCP to get their addresses (for the most part, a couple may have static IPs set on the computer). I have the maximum number of DHCP users set to 1 to restrict the ability of people to log in to the system. That one address is locked down.
Almost daily one or more of the users will lose their IP address and a hard reset of the router is required. The user this happens to seems random and it may be more than one but seldom all of them. The network includes Windows7 (Home & Pro), a FreeNAS, Macs (Leopard and Snow Leopard) and an AirPort Extreme used as a WAP (DHCP is disabled). The AirPort is plugged directly into the router and has a staic ip on the RVS-4000 but is set to DHCP. It seems to be the most common problem child.

I have a strong internet signal with good SNR coming out of my cable modem, then a nice short 3ft cable going to my linksys VOIP router (I think it's a SPA 2102). Whether I have anything downstream plugged in or not, the "phone" light on the VOIP router goes off every once in a while and when I check I find that I've lost both dial tone and Internet - basically everything downstream of the VOIP router. Have tried every variation on configuration you can imagine (feeding just one phone, feeding the entire phone wiring to the house, nothing at all plugged into the phone jack, no computers downstream plugged in, replaced all the cables, ...). I've replaced BOTH the cable modem and the linksys VOIP router and the problem continues. My cable company says my signal is fine. They suggested a signal amplifier but the coax comes straight to the modem, no splitter, and I'm always seeing 6-7dBmV. My phone company says their router must be losing signal upstream and refusing to reconnect, especially now that we've tried replacing their VOIP router with no change. Any chance I got two 'bad' routers in a row? Not sure what they did for setup parameters. I'm not particularly tech-savvy but have read a lot since seeing these issues, have run my own ping and tracert checks and everything seems to be wonderful... but then most of the time everything IS fine. When I have phone it's crystal clear and when I have internet it's nice and fast. I sometimes go 24hrs or so without a drop, but other times I'm resetting 2-3x in a couple of hours. All I do is power off the VOIP router and back on and everything is fine, for a while. After first getting VOIP things were fine for 4-6 weeks.

For a number of months now, our Internet connection in an office of 5 computers, 2 Macs, 3 windows boxes (1 as dell laptop) has experienced the connection of the Internet dropping off.The timing of the 'drops' is usually in the morning, when the Dell Inspiron M510 either boots up or wakes from sleep. Typically the solution is to turn off the modem, the router and switch, wait a few minutes, then turn the switch, the router, then the modem back on. Our connection via the modem is through AT&T, via a non-static IP addy. Our router is a BEFSR41, v4, with firmware up to date (circa 2006) It's becoming a daily chore now, just about, and is getting to be a bit of a headache on some days.

I got an EDIMAX Nano BRN-6258n Router to replace my glitchy Belkin Wireless-G router about a month ago. My typical network setup involves a desktop computer wired to a router and a laptop connected wirelessly.
Anywhere from once a week to twice a day, the internet connection starts (selectively) dropping off. While I cannot browse the web, some of my browser add-ons and Skype/Dropbox are working fine, and Windows almost always indicates a perfectly working connection.
If I am streaming through YouTube or other sites, the stream continues to play after the connection loss.
For AV, I use a combo of Malwarebytes and AVG Internet Security.

I am running wirelessly on my desktop using a D-Link DWA-130 adapter.

I've got a DIR-651 that does one of two things regularly:
1--drops all wireless connections momentarily, then re-establishes them (happens multiple times a day)
2--drops all wireless connections and has to be reset (happens every 0.5-2 days)
#1 wouldn't be a big deal, except that I keep VPN connections on two systems and have to re-establish them every time this happens. I should probably also note that this happens even on the weekends, when those two systems are not VPN'd in.
It has done this since day 1, and the firmware update did not work.

To start off, the wireless router we have is a D-LINK 615 Wireless N 300 Router. We've had this router for a couple of months now and only recently has it been giving us grief. When we first got it (it was actually a friend's who had lent it to me but have been using ever since), it was working like a charm. No dropped connections, etc. However, as of a few weeks ago, we've began to notice that the connection has been dropping constantly. It started one a day around the same time (in the evening) and ever since has happened multiple times per day.The connection will either drop all together (lights still going on flashing) or there will be a limited connection (as stated in Windows) and I can't do anything. This happens for my laptop as well as my PS3. My desktop is hard-wired so there's never a connection issue there. Power cycling the router usually fixes the issue but again, this is constant and keeps disconnecting for some reason and having to power cycle every day is annoying. All the lights are always flashing like normal but the connection just drops off.
