D-Link DIR-655 :: Setting Up As Stable Router For Network?
Dec 16, 2011I bought a DIR-655 today so i can port trigger to all my xbox's instead of only being able to port forward to 1 xbox from my Netgear CGD24N. My problem is setting up a stable network that wont drop out.
What i am trying to set up: Internet --> Modem (Netgear CGD24N) <---> Router <---> Everything else (2 Xbox's, 5 Computers, Phone's)
I have one ethernet cord from my netgear to the internet port in my D-Link. Is that correct?
They are both set to DHCP as that is the only way i have been able to create a network that i can connect to the net through my router. Problem is it is constantly reconnecting and only getting speeds of 2mb dl and 1mb up. (I should be getting speeds of 30mb dl, 2mb up.)
D-Link DIR-655 :: Internet Connection Faster But Now Less Stable?
Sep 17, 2011About two weeks ago, my internet connection became faster. I am not sure if it has to do with my cable ISP doing something or something I did with my computer.
Right around the same time, my connection began disconnecting every two or three days. Before this, I had a rock solid connection for two years.
It will usually reconnect after a minute. Otherwise, when I boot my computer, the problem is solved.
I am certain there is a correlation between the connection speed going up and my connection becoming less stable.
D-Link DIR-655 :: How To Downgrade Back To Stable Version
Dec 25, 2012I've had the DIR-655 for a few months now, along with a Motorola Surfboard sb6121 DOCSIS 3.0.Modem works fine, the router was working perfectly fine until recently last week.
I have a desktop hardwired and a wireless network going on that I use just for my mobile phone and tablet at times. At first I was having disconnection problems with my wireless, then noticed a neighbor installed a similar router in the area according to my wifi analyzer, so I changed the channels and my wireless started working great. During this process I also did a firmware update and since then I've been receiving some really poor browsing problems, sometimes I'll visit websites like Facebook, or a news website, and it'll say something about the DNS not working, (at this point I'll ping the website and it still pings fine without any loss) so I'll visit the website about 10 minutes later and it works great. I've done extensive research on forums/Google and found it must link up to the new firmware update and something about a DNS relay? My version is: Hardware Version: B1 Firmware Version: 2.10NA
In other words, is there a way I can fix this issue from disconnecting without having to downgrade back to the old firmware? Or is this a common issue they'll continue to happen? If I do downgrade, HOW do I downgrade back to the stable version?

Everything was fine until my roommate bought a Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Now I randomly lose wireless connection to every device on the network. Default gateway 192.168.0.1 becomes unreachable... resetting the router restores connectivity...
Very interesting to note is the fact that while wireless communication with the router fails, wired connections remain active with fully functional internet access.

Nov 24, 2009I recently purchased the WRT-120N router for my home network. The wireless is set to mixed mode, with WPA Personal encryption, with key renewal set at the default 3600 seconds. My problem is that the connection is not stable. I can be connected with one computer, then, as soon as another computer joins the network, I get kicked off. This happens with all of my 5 computers. In addition to this, several of my computers will not automatically connect to my network after the computer is restarted. When I try to reconect manually, it says the network is unavailable. The only way I can get back on is if I go into "Control PanelManage Wireless Networks" and delete the setting for my network, then connect again through the "Connect to a network" window.4 of my computers are running Windows Vista with a minimum of Service Pack 1. The Other is running XP with Service Pack 2.

Dec 27, 2011I upgraded my router from version 1.2 to 1.35NA, through the Tools / Systems page on the router (uploaded the bin file). I am connected to the router via a wired connection.
During the upgrade, the message said I wouldn't be able to access the webpage until 75 secs. I watched it count down the seconds and then when it refreshed, I could not get to my routers page: 192.168.1.2
The DLink Router is connected as a pass through router to my FIOS router, so that I can use the wired ports and I use the DLink as my wireless router (fios router wireless strength was poor).
All the lights on the router are working as though everything is ok. I am still connected to the Internet, so it appears that the pass through of my wired ports is still working after the firmware upgrade, but wireless is not. Not surprising. I expect I may have to upload my settings (which I did save), but since I cannot get to the routers page, I feel a bit stuck.
two more bits of into. I also tried getting to 192.168.0.1, which might be the default? and I cannot get there either. My Fios router is on 192.168.1.1 (and as mentioned, the DLink should be at 192.168.1.2). Fios Router reports that the 192.168.1.2 port is inactive.

Jun 21, 2012I am today playing with the settings in my DIR-655 NA B1 router when I notice that a firmware upgrade is available.I clicked the button and the router automatically downloaded the file named DIR655B1_FW207NAB09.bin. I flashed it and was saying that it needed to wait 180 seconds (3 minutes) to reprogram the router after which it came up with a 404 not found on the screen. I am not able to access my router, it is bricked and I can't even re-flash the firmware comes back with Incorrect hardware ID image, Please check. I notice that the 2.07NA firmware file on the website is named DIR655B1_FW207NAB05.bin. What gives this is the first time a firmware upgrade has bricked anything I own?

Jun 29, 2011For some reasons, my internet connection keeps dropping more often recently. My laptop still says it is connected to my network but I can just not have internet connection. It was not like that before but it happened more frequently now. What I did was to power off then on the modem and the router and everything will work fine again. I want to upgrade my firmware but I just wonder if I need to save all the configuration before doing the upgrading? If so, then how can I set it back to the old configuration that was saved?

Nov 13, 2011I'm running a D-Link DIR-655 Hardware Version A3, Firmware Version 1.21. In the past, it has been flaky, and I considered updating to the latest firmware (1.3+ something), but everywhere I read (mainly this forum) said it might be WORSE for the router and couldn't even be downgraded, so I decided to ride it out.
Eventually the problem disappeared and I forgot about it, but now it's back with a vengeance. Recently I opened up a Guest Zone so my neighbors could borrow wifi, and I occasionally run torrents. Torrenting seems to definitely crash the router overnight, while it also seems to randomly bug out, possibly when the neighbors are using the Guest Zone. The Guest Zone might be responsible, but I have no idea.
For what it's worth, I don't think my neighbors are terribly tech-savvy, so I doubt they're filesharing or doing anything risky. They might have malware installed, but I don't know.
Is there a way I can diagnosis my precise issue, should I go ahead and update to the latest firmware to try?

So Afyter facing this problem, I updated my Router firmware(TL-MR3220_v_2_120822) and retry the process. How To Have More Stable Connection
Aug 9, 2011i wanted to know the reason of why my ping drops or how to make it more stable. For example i play a game called League Of Legions, which i think my connection and pc exceeds the system requirements. (Except my Video card since im using a standard which was with the MOBO.)
When im playing this game, i have a ping of 50-80, suddenly it drops to 300-500, which causes me lag (Happens multiple times in a 45min game or any). I think thats not normal, since other players dont suffer from that.

The problem was that HWIC-4ESW no longer pass traffic although showing that the interfaces are up rebooting the router solved the problem. What IOS is more stable and not subject to this problem?
