I just acquired an Ipod Touch and am trying to set it up to connect to my exisintin DIR-615 router. It is about one year old, but I have misplaced all the info I had on it, including any password info. Trying to use the blue lit button on the right side of the router does not allow access to the Ipod, nor my daughter's Apple computer.
Are there changes I need to make or special procedures for Apple products?
Attempting to connect my iPod to the wireless network. The SSID is set to visible and the ipod finds the network. I set the ipod to the security type of the router and have verified the security key. When I attempt to connect I get a message that says unable to connect to the network.

I cant seem to connect to the router's configuration page (192.168.1.1) anymore, All the lights on the router are on and I tried to reset it to default settings several times but still it wont connect. I tried it on a laptop but I still cant get it to connect. I can surf the net just fine when using the ADSL modem though. I can ping the IPaddress 192.168.1.100 but can't ping the default gateway which is 192.168.1.1. I also tried switching to another cable just in case but to no avail.

setting up wifi network in my office. my complete set up right now. the main problem is how to setup my access points . Okay so here it is.
I have 3 - 4 PCS in my office out of which My machine is the main machine and everything is setup on this. so for networking what i have done is i am using a TP link router model TL-WR941D. i had got it configured from an engineer. A cable from my internet modem goes into the blue port of this router(WAN) and my PCs are connected via the LAN port of the router . so everything is working fine right now the local network and internet on all PCS and my laptop also connects through the wifi and is able to access other pcs and also the internet.
To have better signal strength on other floors of the building my engineer had installed 2 access points. They are TP link model Tl-WA901ND. yesterday i updated the firmware of my main router and the settings were some how lost but i managed to set it back to working state using the quick setup utility. so my router and wifi is working fine. But now my access points have stopped sworking . i mean i am not able to get better signal strengths thorugh them. i am assuming theirs ettings /ip etc are lost. now i have no idea how to setup these access points to be used again as part of my wifi network. I looked on the internet but nowhere the thing has been explained in detail. how can i configure my access points/repeaters agaain? i am stuck and engineer is not available for nest few days and my officee internet is suffering.
The wireless is just beyond my computer's ability to detect. I have a D-Link WBR 1310 Router hooked up to a high gain wireless antenna-yes, clear line of sight. I have no direct access to our community modem or ISP.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have NM 5.5.9195.0 and WRT120N Linksys router. I have an Ipod using WIFI to connect to the network which I would like to restrict times for. Using the access restriction page in the manage/setup of the router seems to not work well. The system does recognize the MAC address of the Ipod but setting times to allow or deny gives me odd results. The allow button actually denies use for one thing. Secondly, the deny time ends, but the Ipod still cannot connect sometimes. It is like the system gets stuck in deny. I have tested using a random 5 minute deny time period, yet the Ipod is denied all times. The system is consistent in denying the Ipod (actually using the allow button) but not on the times.

View 1 Replies View Relatedi have a WD My Book Live and it's connected to my DIR-825. i'd like to configure the router to allow FTP access to the NAS from the internet. the drive has an option to enable FTP in it's configuration, but i have not done this before and i don't know what to do to create a solid/secure FTP portal so that i can access my files remotely.how do i configure the router for this ? my router is set to DHCP and i have turned MAC filtering on.. in particular i am looking for the ability to transfer/copy files from the drive, and not allow any modification/writing to the drive from the outside.

Today I used my iPod and checked under general settings and noticed a wireless name I did not set up but then it disappeared. Also on dlink account online a few months back I was trying to do something with account, security and noticed one or two connections I didn't set up. I want to setup this modem wirelessly such that:
- Wireless User A has full unrestricted wireless access (to Internet and all other services) and
- Wireless User B has no internet access but access to file sharing and related services.
Can this be done and how can it be done?
Using DIR-601 hardware version B1, Firmware 2.00NA, I am debugging problems I've had with this router, so it is set up on my network so I can access it from both the WAN and LAN side. If I ping the router from the WAN side, I get a very fast response. But when I disable ping from the administrative tools from the LAN side and reboot the router, I still get responses to my ping! I know the router is responding because if I disconnect the WAN cable from the router (connected to "INTERNET", the pings stop. So the router is ignoring user settings at Advanced->Advanced Network->WAN PING! Looks like a firmware bug.

I have one ethernet cord from my netgear to the internet port in my D-Link. Is that correct?
They are both set to DHCP as that is the only way i have been able to create a network that i can connect to the net through my router. Problem is it is constantly reconnecting and only getting speeds of 2mb dl and 1mb up. (I should be getting speeds of 30mb dl, 2mb up.)
I have a d-link router model dir 655.To activate my laptop all that was required was to enter the wps pin.I just purchased an apple ipod touch which is asking for a password.I first tried the wps pin.Then I went to the d-link website and put in my model #.It gave me an ip address which brought up a page where there was a choice admin or user.I picked user.The second choice was to put in a password which I did.The Ipod still says password invalid.I tried numerous times.

All of the information is correct, but it doesn't seem to want to login. When I click the enable check box, it tries connecting and then greys out and doesn't connect.

I have a router supplied by my ISP which is effectively locked down, the wireless on that router give me a massive 35 Mbps (yes i know... awesome) so I wanted to get something that would allow me to stream movies wirelessly in the house. The setup I had before was Thompson DSL router downstairs (ISP router) running the DSL connection and Wireless, a TP-Link 200Mbps Power over Ethernet connecting upstairs to a Netgear ADSL Wireless router (somewhat flaky device). This router had DHCP disabled and a static IP address, I had configured wireless with the same SSID, password and channel as the ISP router and they were all happy and everything was working (most of the time except when the netgear would crash or the 35MB wifi was too slow to achieve what I wanted).
What I would like to do is this... ISP router downstairs with wifi disabled so it just handles DHCP and DSL connection, router upstairs (New TP-Link) running new WiFi, DHCP disabled (static IP address for Router) but connected to router downstairs through TP-Link Power over Ethernet.
I was hoping it was as simple as the Netgear router where disabling DHCP was enough for it to see the other router and just work but it isn't doing that

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Belkin High-Speed Mode Wireless G Router F5D7231-4 and I wish to use it as an access point for my main desktop for my wireless network.
I have followed methods supplied by both Belkin and users and have had no success.
Instructions followed:
- Connect a computer to Belkin router using an ethernet cable.
- Reset the router to factory defaults. The reset button can be found at the botton of it. The reset procedure is given below
- Make sure the router is switched ON.
- Locate the reset button(inside a hole) at the back of the router.
- Use a paper clip, push the reset button and hold it for 30 seconds then release the reset button.
- Unplug the Power cable from back of the router and plug it back again and wait for another 30 seconds.
- Log on to router setup page by typing 192.168.2.1 in the address bar of the browser.
- On the left under wireless click on the option Use as Access Point.
- Select Enable and specify the IP address as 192.168.2.254 and subnet mask as 255.255.255.0 and click on apply changes.
Every time the system crashes whilst applying the changes.
My internet provider is telus and they gave me a modem/router combo model VA-G3810bn/tl and another router a linksys wrt310n and i want to by pass the router built into the modem so my linksys will put out a signal instead as it is faster connection any im using windows seven and mozilla firefox if that matters

I'm trying to set up external Wake On Lan with my TP Link router.
I can get it working internally using the mac address I'm just wondering how do I do it remotely?
My old modem from Roadrunner (Time Warner) died and the service man replaced it with a Arris TG852 modem/router. then my problems began. I would like to have the Arris modem act like a modem and not a router. The network governed by the DIR works fine but none of the clients can connect to the internet. Below are the steps I have tried.in both steps below, The DIR is connected to the Arris using the Ethernet not the Wan port.
1. I tried disabling DHCP on the Arris router and setting a static IP address for the DIR router. This worked for a bit and then quit. Some of the computers said there were duplicate IP addresses on the network. If fact the same IP address showed up in the DNS list of the Arris and the DIR routers.. even though the Arris router had DNS disabled.
2. After reading other forums. I enabled DHCP on the Arris and set it to passout IP address between 192.168.0.2 and 192.168.0.99. I then setup the DOR to pass out addresses between 192.168.0.100 and 192.168.0.200. then moved the DIR into the DMZ of the Arris. Still no access to the internet.
IPOD Touch 4G that will not connect to internet. it sees the network, requests a password but will not connect. Have been entering the same 8 character password the router uses.
