I have been trying to block access to Steam and Left 4 Dead 2 on a specific computer, using the correct listed ports and using the port forwarding section of the router (setting the access to deny) however they seem to still be able to access both steam and L4D2 on their computer.how I can still block the access?

How to successfully get VPN passthrough working with the W8960N?
I have the W8960N providing internet to local device. I want to setup a second router, TP-Link 1043ND with WW-DRT and PPTP set up to provide a separate access point for PPTP tunnelling to VPN servers outside of the UK. HideMyAss are providing VPN servers I wish to connect to.
I have followed instruction to set up both routers but would like to know if I am missing something.
First router 192.168.1.1 is basically untouched but with ports under NAT added: ports 1723 and 47 for my second router at local IP 192.168.1.111
Second router is set up according to [URL].
I know VPN work via just my first router. I can tunnel through using an Android tablet and connect to any HMA VPN server without changing anything on the 8960N.

I am wondering if it is worth switching to OpenWRT firmware for my TL-WR841N V8.0 ..Has anyone successfully switched to OpenWRT Attitude Adjustment Release (12.09) ? If so are you happy with the features and stability provided ? I checked for the Gargoyle firmware, and t seems there are still some issues with TL-WR841N release 8.0 ... Therefore I am not considering this alternative firmware for now.
how can I block multiple ports on only 1 IP Address while not blocking those ports on other IP Addresses. I am using a Netgear WNR2000v1 which assigns the IP Addresses to each device.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just recently purchased an SG300 10 port switch. After reading through many of the threads here, I was finally able to get the different VLANs to route properly. However, I'm having a unique issue that I'm not sure if it's related to the switch or not. I currently have 2 VLANs configured on the switch.ports 1-4 are native vlan 1 (192.168.1.X) ports 5-7 are VLAN 10 192.168.10.X (Trunk Port with VLAN 1 tagged and VLAN 10 untagged)I have a Hyper-V server connected to both of these networks. The VMs are running on both VLANs on port 5. I have the following problem:When I have a domain controller VM on VLAN 10, I notice that many of the DC communications failed. I took a network trace and noticed that many of the RPC port ranges were failing. I am able to ping all of the hosts on VLAN1 and vice versa. My question is as follows:Does this switch have some type of security option that blocks high range ports? I can't seem to find the menu option indicating that this is the case. I have already set-up a NETBIOS UDP proxy, but this hasn't worked much. I still have problems connecting to machines on this VLAN range.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWe have a client that is running a PC on a internet over satellite. To avoid any unessecery traffic over the satellite link (data traffic is quite expensive), we've suggested to use a 5505, as we had one handy already.
So basically what we wanted was to block everything outgoing and everything ingoing, except for example port 22 (ssh).
But I'm struggling a bit, since this is my first cisco router to be configured.
My interfaces are as follows.
Outside - DHCP
Inside (port 1) - 192.168.1.1
I'm only running ipv4.
in ASDM I made a static NAT rule for port 22, being forwarded to 192.168.1.5 (the computer)
in Access rules I made under outside (incomming rules) source=any destination=outside service=ssh action=permit
But when I try to add further rules to block everything else, it takes the SSH on port 22 with it. How should I do this the easiest way?
the hardware setup is pretty straight forward.
sat-terminal(with IP 192.168.0.1 running DHCP) -> 5505 (outside IP=DHCP - inside IP=192.168.1.1) -> computer (IP=192.168.1.5)
We are experiencing bridge storms and network slow downs and we believe we have traced the issue down to users plugging a cat 5/6 cable between 2 ports on the wall both wired back to a SGE2010 switch.
So we did a test - we plugged a single short cat 6 cable between 2 ports on a SGE2010, our access switch. Suprisingly, even with STP enabled, the switch DID NOT block one of the ports and in a few minutes the ENTIRE NETWORK was down, as CDP, STP, and ARP traffic became a multi-gigabit storm throughout the network.
Why on earth does this switch not block a port that is obviosly looped?
Every other cisco switch since I started on 1900XL's did this in 1999.
One of techs accidentally connected two access ports from different switches together. Since then, LMS is alerting them as being Link ports down. I tried to default the config and set them to access ports without any success. what I should do in LMS to recognize them as access ports?
View 2 Replies View Relatedi want to block all internet access on all my computers from the time range of 9 PM to 8 PM. Yes, that gives 1 hour of internet access per day. However, it seems that there are certain rules of the router that won't let me do this. It seems I can't make 2 different policies for PC's within the same IP range (192.168.1.0 to 192.168.1.254) , it gives me the error: "The values you entered are invalid. Please try again."every time I try to do so. And when I try to give the time range from 9 PM to 8 PM it gives an error stating that the end time must be bigger than start time. I am using the WRT54GL with firmware v4.30.7.

I tried opening ports through Windows Firewall and even disabling firewall, still won't work.
View 14 Replies View RelatedA year or so ago, when Verizon was my ISP, I ran a Minecraft server with a Hamachi VPN. I had looked into forwarding ports at the time, but decided to go the VPN route because I wasn't completely sure how to assign a static IP to a computer on the network. I had absolutely no issues setting up the VPN or hosting a server on the network.Recently I decided to give port forwarding a go again. I successfully assigned the static IP and put the port number into my router's port forwarding settings, but the port was still closed. I tried using online port checker tools and having friends try to log into the Minecraft server. No luck.After reading multiple port forwarding tutorials to make sure I had everything correct and double- and triple-checking all my settings, I began to suspect that something else was causing the problem. I have an older router set up as a repeater on the network so my family can connect to the Wifi network from anywhere in our house. Thinking maybe the repeater or even the main router itself was to blame, I decided to try another router. After disconnecting the current routers and setting up a spare router I had, I tried everything again. Still no luck.
I tried opening different ports unsuccessfully. No port I tried opening would work. I decided to give in and just set up Hamachi again, since that had worked flawlessly before. However, after setting up a Hamachi VPN, I realized people could join the "room," so to speak, but could not connect to the VPN itself. Even hosting a Minecraft server over Hamachi wasn't working this time.Assuming it was just an issue with Hamachi, I tried another VPN software. I got the same error - people could log in, but not connect to the VPN. Thinking back to the port checker telling me port 80 was closed, I pretty well gave up.I've walked one friend through setting up a VPN the exact same way I did, and it worked on the first try. I walked another friend through assigning a static IP and forwarding ports. I don't know what's different about my network that won't allow either of these things. I've searched my router's configuration for any setting that would override port forwarding or block a VPN, but I can't find anything.

When trying to set up the wireless connection via my virgin wireless manager I followed all the steps correctly until the last where it could not find my USB wireless adapter. I installed the latest software for the adapter from the netgear website but it will still not succesfully install the drivers fro the adapter.

How do I block a particular IP from accessing my network entirely? I have a hacker with a known IP I want to shut out. I tried creating a DENY inbound filter (with just that IP as the range) but that didn't seem to work. that hacker kept being able to attempt logins.

I click save and get this pop-up: Incorrect source ip address. Invalid format of the start IP address. Current Firmware Version : 2.11 The ip is obviously valid, what should I do?

Issue 1: I have been trying to configured Webauth bundle however it seems that is not working.
1. login.tar created use picozip contains 3 files: login.html, terms.html, and logo.jpg.
2, uploaded via FTP to controller successfully..
3, no issue when i tried to preview on the controller
However users unable to see the login page when connected to guest wifi. when the user tried to connect cisco.com, on the browser address shows that the page redirected to url... however internet explorer / firefox display "Connection reset error".During this time, if i ask the user to type url... they can see the default login page, so no issue on connectivity to the service port.
Issue 2: Since i couldnt make that work, i have use default webauth internal. its all good. then when i tried to upload customlogo.jpg (18k size). User able to see the login page however not the logo. it shows broken image icon on the web browser. --> i can see the logo when i did preview on the controller.
Issue 3: last resort if i couldnt get the answer by sunday, how do i delete or remove the customlogo ?? so by monday users will not be seeing any errors on the page.
How to successfully deployed a WGB with a 5508 WLC?5508 code is 6.0.202.0 and the WGB is an AP1131AG?The documentation is ambiguous in that it states you can't use VLANs and then shows VLANs being used.I have a WLAN called wgb-link set up on the WLC with WPA-2 AES and PSK. The WLAN points to a logical interface called wgb-link which is configured to be in VLAN 9 and the default gateway is the VLAN SVI on the core switch.On the WGB I have configured the same SSID and security setup.
I am using the 5GHz radio and have set it to be a work group bridge.I have a sub interface dot11radio 1.9 configured:
encapsulation dot1q 9 native
bridge group 1
I also have an ethernet sub interface configured:
encapsulation dot 1q 9 native
bridge group 1
Int BVI1 is configured with an IP address in VLAN 9.The WGB links up fine and I can see it as a client on the WLC.
From the WGB CLI I can ping the interface on the WLC and the SVI on the core switch and any other device on the network in any VLAN.From the WLC I can ping the BVI1 address of the WGB.From the core switch I can ping the WLC interface and the WGB BVIi interface.
If I connect a laptop to the WGB ethernet port with a static IP address in VLAN 9 I cannot ping from the laptop to the WLC interface or the SVI on the core. I can only ping to the BVI address of the WGB.

View 3 Replies View RelatedBought DIR-655 from Amazon. Rev. B. Come with 2.00NA firmware. Updated to latest one, and there are a lot of problems, to most of them, I was not able find any solution. Here they start:
1. WIFI SPEED PROBLEMS.No matter what speed, parameters, channel, mode, etc I select, router keeps working on 20mhz channel width. So I never get speeds above 65 mbit. In absolutely same conditions, my DIR-300 B1 (with DD-WRT firmware) gives me stable 150mbit. SO I KINDLY ASK, MAYBE THERE IS A WAY TO FORCE "40 MHZ ONLY" OPTION?
2. PASSWORD PROBLEMS.Router came with no admin password, I enter new password, hit "update" it says - wait 20 sec, after that, login page is displayed, but, new pasword does not works! since it asks again for empty password!
3. FILTERING PROBLEMS.I need to block certain IP address to be accesed by all my computers. Say this is 111.111.111.111 . So I added inbound filter rule, to block access to that IP. It does not works - IP is still accesible.
4. MORE FILTERING PROBLEMS.Since above mentioned method does not works, I have to use "ACCESS CONTROL" feature. It does works, but it causes another problem, with access control enabled, all webpages with form submit stop to work. For example, if I'll have that feature enabled, when I press "post" on this webpage, it instantly will go to "this page cannot be displayed".
I bought this router solely for one purpose - I was happy with speed of my DIR-300, but I needed gigabit for my computers. So I thought, instead of buying separate switch, I'd better buy a router with gigabit. I was suggested to get TP-LINK 1043, since it's quite popular, alternate firmwares available and so on, but I refused to buy it, since I thought that some chinese company does not worth my attention. So I bought this D-Link (for almost 2x price of TP-Link) and having huge problems as you can see.
