Jan 6, 2013I've had occasional issues with 5505 upgrades going south when the boot hangs on the image load due to a corrupt image. I need a way to validate the checksum of the new image after it is copied to flash. Remote upgrades become a real pain when you have to go onside just to delete an image, copy it into flash again, and boot.

When trying to set up the wireless connection via my virgin wireless manager I followed all the steps correctly until the last where it could not find my USB wireless adapter. I installed the latest software for the adapter from the netgear website but it will still not succesfully install the drivers fro the adapter.

Issue 1: I have been trying to configured Webauth bundle however it seems that is not working.
1. login.tar created use picozip contains 3 files: login.html, terms.html, and logo.jpg.
2, uploaded via FTP to controller successfully..
3, no issue when i tried to preview on the controller
However users unable to see the login page when connected to guest wifi. when the user tried to connect cisco.com, on the browser address shows that the page redirected to url... however internet explorer / firefox display "Connection reset error".During this time, if i ask the user to type url... they can see the default login page, so no issue on connectivity to the service port.
Issue 2: Since i couldnt make that work, i have use default webauth internal. its all good. then when i tried to upload customlogo.jpg (18k size). User able to see the login page however not the logo. it shows broken image icon on the web browser. --> i can see the logo when i did preview on the controller.
Issue 3: last resort if i couldnt get the answer by sunday, how do i delete or remove the customlogo ?? so by monday users will not be seeing any errors on the page.

May 21, 2013How to successfully deployed a WGB with a 5508 WLC?5508 code is 6.0.202.0 and the WGB is an AP1131AG?The documentation is ambiguous in that it states you can't use VLANs and then shows VLANs being used.I have a WLAN called wgb-link set up on the WLC with WPA-2 AES and PSK. The WLAN points to a logical interface called wgb-link which is configured to be in VLAN 9 and the default gateway is the VLAN SVI on the core switch.On the WGB I have configured the same SSID and security setup.
I am using the 5GHz radio and have set it to be a work group bridge.I have a sub interface dot11radio 1.9 configured:
encapsulation dot1q 9 native
bridge group 1
I also have an ethernet sub interface configured:
encapsulation dot 1q 9 native
bridge group 1
Int BVI1 is configured with an IP address in VLAN 9.The WGB links up fine and I can see it as a client on the WLC.
From the WGB CLI I can ping the interface on the WLC and the SVI on the core switch and any other device on the network in any VLAN.From the WLC I can ping the BVI1 address of the WGB.From the core switch I can ping the WLC interface and the WGB BVIi interface.
If I connect a laptop to the WGB ethernet port with a static IP address in VLAN 9 I cannot ping from the laptop to the WLC interface or the SVI on the core. I can only ping to the BVI address of the WGB.

Oct 25, 2012I bought a CISCO SG200-18 switch. I added the Switch to my LAN and started the Switch (as described in the manual). The Switch starts the booting procedure (green blinking status LED) After a while, the LED starts to blink orange and green, instead of steady green.
In generally the Switch seems to work. I can access my whole network, but not the web interface of the switch itself. I also can't see the switch in the ADSL / DHCP rooter.
I also tried to boot the switch only connected to the PC. But ping on 192.198.1.254 is not working. The switch is in the same subnet like my other LAN components.

I exchanged the switch. But the new switch shows the same behavior.

Nov 17, 2011Ok on my new PC,,OS is windows xp..I works fine..connect to pppoe and can surf internet perfectly.But on my old pc,,it can only succesfully connect to wan miniport pppoe but cant surf the internet..its OS is Windows Vista home Prem.The old pc was my first pc(notebook) and last time I used it was on 2009..it was using Atheros AR8131 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller connection and I forgot what modem I used..but now I bought TP-link TD-W8901G and I use for ADSL connection.My new pc works fine because it was setup proffesionaly by my friend..it also still needs Atheros AR8131 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller connection to connect ADSL Wan Miniport PPPoE..but I repaired my old pc too late..and he didnt configured it..so I setup myself..all the PPPoE adsl connections.And so its succesfully connected to WAN miniport PPPoE..but I can surf the internet..The old pc also needs Atheros AR8131 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller connection for me to connect ADSL Wan Miniport PPPoE..but all that was succesfull.

How to successfully get VPN passthrough working with the W8960N?
I have the W8960N providing internet to local device. I want to setup a second router, TP-Link 1043ND with WW-DRT and PPTP set up to provide a separate access point for PPTP tunnelling to VPN servers outside of the UK. HideMyAss are providing VPN servers I wish to connect to.
I have followed instruction to set up both routers but would like to know if I am missing something.
First router 192.168.1.1 is basically untouched but with ports under NAT added: ports 1723 and 47 for my second router at local IP 192.168.1.111
Second router is set up according to [URL].
I know VPN work via just my first router. I can tunnel through using an Android tablet and connect to any HMA VPN server without changing anything on the 8960N.

If so are you happy with the features and stability provided ? I checked for the Gargoyle firmware, and t seems there are still some issues with TL-WR841N release 8.0 ... Therefore I am not considering this alternative firmware for now.

Jul 10, 2011I've been using a WRT150N wireless router successfully up until a couple days ago, when it stopped being detected. I can plug my computer directly to my modem, and it works, so my internet connection is fine. I have an older BEFW11S4 router that I am using currently, but it is very slow compared the the N router. I've tried resetting the 150N router, and also the modem, and combinations of both, but nothing seems to work. I plugged the router into my computer without connecting the modem, but I'm not able to access 192.168.1.1 either. All the lights illuminate when the router is plugged in.

Sep 21, 2012No matter what I do, whenever I enter the Web Interface for my E4200, the page comes up in Russian (at least I think it is russian!!)! I have changed the language to English (by trial and error discovered it was the first option at the top of the pull-down list) many times and yes, selected save at the bottom of the Setup page. I get the message back "Your settings have been successfully saved".But next time I go in, it is back to either Russian or sometimes some other wierd script, and I have to reselect English.

Feb 8, 2011I am setting up a Linux apache and bind server to test the behaviour of Windows XP,Vista, 7 and Mac OS X.I have setup a apache and bind already and they were tested individually. I used Firefox and IE to access the apache page by type in the IPv6 address and the page was showed correctly. And I have tried to query the AAAA record of a local zone "testing.com" in my Bind server using nslookup and the result is good too.However, it is strange that I cannot get it work if I type in the FQDN "http://testing.com" in Firefox and IE. I tried to capture the IPv6 traffic in Wireshark (Attached in this post) and there are no DNS query when I try to access the page. Is there anything that I have to set to get it work properly?(Actually I have tested the same thing on Mac OS X and Vista too but the result is the same)Below is my Windows 7 network setting and some nslookup query:

I just want to confirm that what I am thinking is correct and inf not how I can correct it.My thought is that since the access-list command doesn't list "eq" at the end, all ports and protocols are allowed?The other thing I am not used to is that the access-list has not id/number included in the command, so I assume that access-group specifies this functionality.

Nov 2, 2011We have subscribed for MPLS links from Service provider we have a DC where the core connectivity is 90 MB and Remote branch location Connectivity is 64 Kbps. We are in process of enabling QOS for our links with co-ordination with Service provider ; as per our finding the branches have more RX traffic (downloading) so after discussion with provider we were advised to mark traffic from the core end and give it to the provider.The provider at its PE will honor the marking and set some B/W percentages and prioroty based on the DSCP marking values.
We need to mark this traffic so it is feasible to mark the traffic at the core DC router which has the below H/W details,Cisco 7206VXR (NPE-G2) processor (revision A) with 917504K/65536K bytes of memory.

Aug 22, 2011I am in the process of planning our new network. Our business is changing from hosting its own data centre, to moving it to a professional facility. We have 120 users, over 100 servers (physical and virtual) and three sites (main premise, data centre, dr site). The new network will connect all three. Our new WAN links are almost ordered. We will be making use of a managed MPLS IP VPN, with a 100M access rate at each site. I am currently focusing on the desing of the network at the main business premise. We have a significant investment in Cisco 2960 & 3750 switches and Fortinet firewall appliances. I plan to re-use these in the design.
Our current LAN is very flat and I want to segment the network. My plan is to create a number of VLANs, enable the Inter VLAN routing on the 3750 and then attach the 3750 to the Fortinet appliance which will provide stateful firewalling and traffic policin based on the VLAN (subnet) addresses. It is important that the traffic be routed as quickly as possible from this site to our prod and dr data centres.The 2960's act as the access layer, the 3750 as the distribution layer. The 2960's will connect via port channels (layer 2) to the 3750's and the VLAN interfaces will be configured on the 3750.
I was then planning on creating a VLAN on the 3750 to connect to the Fortigate appliance with a /29 address to limit the addresses used whilst also providing some flexibility for any future design changes.I want to implement a little security between the VLANs on the 3750 switches. I have a question about this coming up.I then plan to use the Fortigate appliance to do basic traffic policing based on source/destination addresses.
The WAN routers will connect to the Fortinet appliance on a Gigabit copper interface. The WAN routers will run HSRP between themselves and only one router will be active at any one time. The failover will be managed by the Fortigate and Cisco routers.I plan to define those addresses hosted at the other data centres and associate them with the interface associated with the WAN.I will then define the routing on the firewall for the two other data centres through summary routes for each of the sites. We will run static routing from the Cisco 3750 to the Fortigate and Fortigate to WAN router. We have no other networks/sites and won't have any others in the future.
