D-Link DIR-655 :: Won't Assign IP Address To Xbox 360 Slim

Aug 20, 2011

I've been using the Dir-655 for 2 or 3 years with my old Xbox 360 and an external G wireless adapter.  Everything was working perfectly until I got the dreaded Red Rings Of Death the other day.  I replaced the Xbox with a new Slim version with built in N capable network adapter.

After more than 10 hours of trying a variety of "fixes" I found from MS and in this forum, I am still at square 1.

Hardware Version : A3
Firmware Version : 1.32NA (this is listed as Live compatible by Microsoft)
802.11 Mode : Tried N only, G only and mixed 802.11n and 802.11g
Enable Auto Channel Scan : Checked
Transmission Rate : Best (automatic)
Channel Width : Auto 20/40
Visibility Status : Visible
Security Mode : WPA-Personal Also tried WEP
WPA Mode : Auto (WPA or WPA2)  Also tried WEP
Cipher Type : TKOP and AES

I tried assigning an IP manually from the Xbox. But, no matter what I do, the router will not accept it. It is especially frustrating that the Xbox is visible to the unit. It simply will not assign an IP to it under any circumstance.

If you read the sales hype promoting the Dir-655, you will see a lot of nonsense about it being great for gaming. Given that, you'd think a simple solution would have been found and posted for this issue by now.  Surely, end users shouldn't be trying 100 different possible "fixes", none of which work, at this late stage of the firmware upgrades. If I sound a tad fed up, it's because I am.   After the expense of the new Xbox, it appears I now have to junk my router too.

Here is the status screen taken when it was in mixed mode.  Changing it to 'G Only' didn't make any difference:

D-Link DIR-601 :: 2 Xbox's Can't Join Same Party On XBox Live

Nov 15, 2012

Ive been trying to work this out on XBL forum for a while. all my settings seem to be correct ( UPnP, NAT type: open, no port forwarding or triggering, IP settings on Xbox's are auto).

The two Xbox can play online separately, when either one of them attempts to join the others party it disconnects from Xbox live.

According to the microsoft website, Xbox live only supports the Hardware version 1A and Firmware: 1.00NA.

My router has B1 and 2.00NA. is there a way to downgrade?

Can't Use Xbox 360 And PC Online At The Same Time

Feb 26, 2011

I can't use both online for some reason. I also can't get my 360 to work online unless I reset my router, and the IP says something like 24.* whatever in the network settings for the 360. I'm fairly knowledgeable about computers, but I barely know anything about networking so bear with me. I think this started after I removed a cable from my router (a different connection that I didn't need any more), and hit the reset button. I'm not sure what exactly it changed to cause this however. I also tried a router of the exact same model and it didn't work.

Connect LAN Port Cable To Desktop To Grab Wireless Signal?

Jul 4, 2012

I have a LAN port cable, and I have one end connected to the back of my router.Where does the other end go, so I can receive wireless internet connection of both my Toshiba Satellite Laptop, and Gateway Desktop. First I had the LAN port cable connected at the back of my router, and the other end was connected at the back of my desktop. A little green light lit up at the back of my desktop, saying that it was grabbing signal. I could use the internet fine, and my laptop could grab wireless signal fine as well. I was missing around my router, trying to see what mark it was, and the LAN port cable came off, and when I plugged it back in, i couldn't receive signal, and neither could my laptop. Now the only way I can grab signal is by connecting the WAN port cable from my modem to my desktop, which means I cant get wireless signal on my laptop. Now when I do connect my LAN port cable to the back of my desktop, I try connecting to my wireless connection, and when I go to Network and Sharing Center, it says Connected (With full bars).

D-Link DIR-665 Router Not Letting To Access PC From XBox

Feb 12, 2012

I'm having trouble seeing my PC from my XBox (I want to use WMC to stream video to XBox). Here's my setup:

ISP provided modem (No branding), connected to my PC Network out (Wired) from modem to Dlink DIR-665 router (which is broadcasting WIFI) Network out (Wired) from Dlink router to XBox

I'm online with the XBox with no issue, but I can't access the PC through Media Centre with this setup. When I connect the XBox to the modem directly, I also have no issues. I'm using Norton Internet Security 2012 if that could be the issue.

I checked ports that are talked about and i think i set up port triggering, but then noticed the firewall is disabled anyway.

If I set a permanent IP address in the XBOX, this will no longer match what is in the router.

Cisco VPN :: 5520 - How To Translate One Inside Address To Another

Oct 23, 2011

I guess I'll start with the easy stuff, Cisco ASA 5520 ver 8.2, ASDM ver 6.2, IPSec L2L tunnel with overlapping private IPs.

I have about a dozen L2L connections on our 5520 but never had to do one with overlapping IPs. I have two that I have to build and one definitely overlaps our inside locals, and the other is requesting that we NAT our inside locals to a 10.x.x.x.

I've searched the board and found several good posts including document 112049, but I just don't seem to be able to get my head around how to translate one inside address to another. It would seem like is would be as easy as doing an (inside, inside) static NAT, but most everything has the solution as a policy NAT or doing an (inside, outside) but in the less secure address space place the name of an ACL. I have ordered that brick of a book on ASAs from Cisco Press, but need to get something going and I'm not having much luck getting this thing up and running.

Perhaps my basic understanding of NAT rules is wrong. I thought that when using NAT the command speaks to the interfaces and the direction of travel, (inside, outside). I also thought that the IP adresses used must be valid on the interface refferenced, so any refference to "inside" would have to be an address on the "inside interface of the FW and likewise for the "outside" interface. Finally, to be sure I'm not calling a duck a goose my understanding is that the following are correct; "inside local" = my private, "inside global= my peer, "outside local"= their private, "outside global"= their peer.

So if I'm translating say a 192.x.x.x on my inside local and wanted to present them a 10.x.x.x, wouldn't I need an (inside, outside)? And even though I'm translating my private IP into a different private IP, the translated IP must be on the "outside" interface because that is the interface that I want to present the new private IP on?

So for the scenario I suggested at the top where I need to translate my private 192.x.x.x into a 10.x.x.x and present that 10.x.x.x to the other side, I need something like NAT Static (inside, outside) 10.x.x.x  192.x.x.x?

D-Link DIR-655 :: Router Looses Time After Being Up For A Few Days

Sep 30, 2011

I have copied my computer's time in the router time setup under Time in the "tools" section of the router setup. After a few days of the router being up without a hard restart, it has lost 10 minutes somehow. I went to the logs and cleared them out and then looked at the entry showing that the log was cleared and looked at my computer clock and the time stamp of the log entry, and it was 10 minutes slower than my computer clock that I had originally set it from. I have a clock plugged in by the computer, and my computer always matches the clock that it plugged in, so I know it isn't my computer loosing time. What is going on here? Why does the router loose the correct time after it has been up and not unplugged or rebooted at all? I know that the router will loose the time if you unplug it, but this isn't the case here.

Xbox 360 Unable To Obtain IP Address From Bridged Wireless Modem Through Ethernet

Cisco Firewall :: ASA 8.4(3) - Access To Public IP Address From Inside

May 22, 2012

I need to connect from an inside host to a host located in the DMZ zone for DNS queries. The host in the DMZ zone has a static NAT to the outside. The point now is that I would like to connect from inside to the NATed outside address, means to the public Internet address.

Inside host: 10.0.0.1 -> PAT for 10.0.0.0/8 to 20.0.0.254 (Outside Interface)
DMZ host: 192.168.1.1 -> NAT to outside to 20.0.0.1

The traffic should be 10.0.0.1 udp>1024 to 20.0.0.1 udp=53. The source IP address on the outside interface now is 20.0.0.254 (according to the PAT), the destination IP address 20.0.0.1. The DNS reply from 20.0.0.1 should go back now to 20.0.0.254 and then to the inside host 10.0.0.1.

I know that on the PIX it was not possible, to have outgoing traffic on the outside interface which immediately enters again the same interface. Can I realize this scenario with the ASA 8.4(3) release now?

Cisco VPN :: 5505 IPSEC VPN To An Inside Global Address?

May 6, 2013

I have an ASA5505 with 8.4 software used on a business DSL account. This means I am running PPPoE session to the provider and am then given an Inside Global subnet /29.I have various servers NATed to specific IP's then have the DHCP users NAT with overload to another of my inside global addresses. When I try to establish an IPSEC tunnel to any of my inside globals and monitor I get an access denied message but there is nothing that is blocking. If I determine my PPPoE IP address I am able to extablish a IPSEC session to that but cannot exchange traffic. Not that I want to use that IP anyway because that PPPoE Session IP changes and only my inside globals are static.I spent several hours on this and cannot put my finger on it. Do I need to allow VPN to the INSIDE interface?

Cisco Firewall :: ASA 5525X - Multiple Outside Addresses PAT To One Inside Address

Apr 30, 2013

I am trying to get two external addresses to PAT to different ports on the same address in the dmz.

Object NAT is configured as follows:

object network Obj-192.168.1.20-1
nat (dmz, outside) static Obj-External-1 service tcp https https
object network Onj-192.168.1.20-2
nat (dmz, outside) static Obj-External-2 service tcp 2000 https

Obj-192.168.1.20-1 and Obj-192.168.1.20-2 contain the same host address.

The idea being that traffic destined for Obj-External-1 on port 443 will be forwarded to Obj-192.168.1.20-1 on port 443. Traffic for Obj-External-2 on port 443 will be forwarded to Obj-192.168.20-2 on port 2000.

Cisco Firewall :: 5510 - Duplicate IP Address With ASA Inside Interface

Apr 5, 2012

We've had issues with our Exchange 2010 server (running on ESXi 4.1) since its default gateway was changed to our new ASA 5510.  They manifested as frequent Outlook client connection dropouts or as IP address conflicts whenever Exchange was rebooted.  The temporary fix was to disable the Exchange server NIC, bounce the ASA and enable the server's NIC again.  We saw poor performance from Exchange after a while again, but after some research and testing I realised that disabling proxyarp on the inside interface fixed the problem permanently.

However I've now realised that the client VPN no longer routes properly because proxyarp is disabled on the inside interface, so I still have a problem.
