View 2 RepliesI own the DIR-655 version B1 (EU version) living in the UK.I play xbox, specifically in Halo Reach. My setup isn't straight forward as I have 2 xboxes in the house, one wired and one wireless and I need to keep the NAT ratings open on both. This limits me to certain settings, and doesn't allow QOS on the v2.00 firmware due to my need to have dynamic ip addresses.I have just flashed the router's firmware with new version (DIR655B1_FW205B06) as it appeared available for download in the router's firmware menu. The old version was FW2.00 as said.any other settings to enable or disable, for wired, or wireless, that will optimise for xbox gaming. Finally, I also have fw version DIR655B1_FW206B02, which was emailed to me by D-Link, if this is any better.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI need a router for gaming on my Xbox 360. When gaming I use a wired connection. All my heavy dl/streaming on my laptop will be wired as well. When I'm gaming no other traffic is on the network, meaning my laptop is turned off. The only time I use my laptop wireless is for browsing when I'm not close enough to the router and modem to go wired.
I was thinking of getting the ASUS RT-N66U. I'm fine with the price if I can't find a quality, reliable router that would meet my needs for less.
A thunderstorm about 3 hours ago fried my DIR-655 rev. A3 router. I heard a zapping noise and that was it. All the signals are messed up, even after a hardware reset, and the router runs extermely hot, with lots intermittently blinking and no connections.
I need another router with similar features, especially with a USB port for my printer.I found the DIR-655 reliable a long as it lasted, but I never upgraded the firmware, which was fine with me. Nonetheless I want to buy a more modern solution.
Talking to tech support at D-Link the DIR-825 was recommended. Is the DIR-825 router a good router for my needs ? Is it a worhty upgrade to the DIR-655 router ? Does Shareport work well with it ?

when visiting Switzerland and Italy with my German SIM card I noticed that roaming is not working very good with the TL-MR3020. The reason is that the internet provider needs to be set in the config, in my case to o2 Germany. When I travel with this SIM card to another country, I roam into other networks. As I cannot what provider is currently active (as o2 has contracts with almost every provider outside Germany) and even if I could see it I have to adjust the settings in the config if anything changes, the satisfaction effect on this trip was not very good.
Also I noticed that sometimes (only sometimes) the setting resetted itself to o2 Germany when unplugging the device, this added some extra negative satisfaction to everything. In my understanding the router should have an auto detection for the currently active network and auto setup for the dialin parameters and everything else. Like every smartphone on the planet. Maybe you can also add a setting where you can enable or disable data roaming to save people money if they do not have a international data option booked.
Ive been trying to work this out on XBL forum for a while. all my settings seem to be correct ( UPnP, NAT type: open, no port forwarding or triggering, IP settings on Xbox's are auto).
The two Xbox can play online separately, when either one of them attempts to join the others party it disconnects from Xbox live.
According to the microsoft website, Xbox live only supports the Hardware version 1A and Firmware: 1.00NA.
My router has B1 and 2.00NA. is there a way to downgrade?
I'm having trouble seeing my PC from my XBox (I want to use WMC to stream video to XBox). Here's my setup:
ISP provided modem (No branding), connected to my PC Network out (Wired) from modem to Dlink DIR-665 router (which is broadcasting WIFI) Network out (Wired) from Dlink router to XBox
I'm online with the XBox with no issue, but I can't access the PC through Media Centre with this setup. When I connect the XBox to the modem directly, I also have no issues. I'm using Norton Internet Security 2012 if that could be the issue.
Until yesterday my various equipment was networking to each other and the internet without a problem. After i reset my d-link DSL-2640B router (would this initiate an update?) my x-box would not connect to the internet, There is no problem connecting to the router and the home network. Everything is talking to each other and everything else is connected to the internet including the TV. The router must just be blocking the x-box and only from yesterday. I checked ports that are talked about and i think i set up port triggering, but then noticed the firewall is disabled anyway.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought a DIR-655 a less than a year ago on amazon, and it was working great up until about 4 weeks ago. Ive noticed that it has been dropping alot of packets while I am gaming on my computer. I would run about 95-98 ping usually and now it jitters every 5-10 mins or so from 95-98 to up to 500. It is really troublesome during games and I dont know what to do. Ive tried disabling QoS and still nothing. I run on wireless G and N with auto 20/40 mhz. Standard WPA(personal) and it was running absolutely great until now. I know its the wireless because I have hardwired it into my laptop, both from the router and just the modem itself with no problems whatsoever. I dont know what to do about it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a wired connection to the router and typically all works fine. I have several Ipods and laptops accessing the router wirelessly with no real problems. As soon as I start playing America's Army (2.8.5) on my desktop (wired) my wireless connections all drop and the kids start yelling to turn the internet back on. When I exit the game all goes back to normal...

View 11 Replies View RelatedI need to restrict access or rather, block altogether if i can, access of one of the computers on my local wireless network, to online multi-player gaming sites, in particular Age of Empires and Voobly.com, which also uses a messenger type program for them to chat.I've searched and searched online, but alas, have come up with nothing that i understand. I've tried doing the block ports thing, but am unsure if what i've been doing is right. I have blocked Voobly.com under domain and URL settings via the router admin page, but for some reason, it only seems to be denied on my computer. I even went so far as to register and download relevant programs to my computer, for Voobly, so i could see if the blocking worked. Seems it's only my computer that's blocked, i didn't specify ip or mac addresses.I am unable to get on the other computer as it's not mine, and it's also password locked. I don't know the password
View 1 Replies View RelatedA few days ago I received my DIR-655 I ordered off Amazon and hooked it up. There were no problems the first day after initial setup. The next day I noticed that I was losing internet connection even though the wifi indicator on my laptop said otherwise. This happens for about 5 minutes at a time and on other devices such as my desktop and my iPad. And I hopped on Call of Duty last night and played a competition with some friends and gave everyone 4bar connection. Later that night, I was playing some more and people that connected to me received 1bar connection and I got that in return on their connection. I feel that the router isn't working with my devices right?

I received this router today, I have a MacBook Pro and a iPhone. The router came with a very small cd, I was very disappointed because , when I purchased this router from amazon , the discription read that this router is Mac compatiable. But that is not true if the cd is not compatiable! My problem is I get a good signal for wifi, but I can not open any websites with my Mac or my iphone.
Wasted several hours after changing to a D-link DIR 825 router attempting to connect to my XBOX 360 (S) without success.Tried to use the 5 GHz broadcasting with following settings (the 5 GHz SSID didn't show up in the XBOX wireless list but I'm one of those ignorant trial & error:
- locked on 802.11n and WPA2,
- disabled Multicast Streams in "Advanced/Advanced Network",
- disabled WI-FI protected setup in "Advanced/WI-FI Protected Setup" (maybe unnecessary)
- disabled SPI and TCP & UDP Endpoint Independent i "Advanced/Firewall Settings/Firewall Settings"
In the end it was resolved by the info in solution 5 on the xbox page: The XBOX:es with built in wireless can only use the 2.4 GHz connection, and to be able using 5 GHz broadcast I apparently have to get the "black adapter".
I installed my DIR 655 today and had no problems accessing the network with any of my computers, however, I am completely unable to connect my xbox to the network. The issue isn't with connecting the xbox to xbox live, its with even getting it to connect to the wan.

No matter what I do the xbox says it can't connect to the router, and in the router's wireless connections it shows my xbox's MAC address with an IP of 0.0.0.0.I installed my DIR 655 today and had no problems accessing the network with any of my computers, however, I am completely unable to connect my xbox to the network.
I just upgraded yesterday to the DIR-655 (ver B1, F/W Ver 2.00NA), and suddenly my sons Xbox 360 complains that the NAT is set to moderate. I'm not really sure what this means, but I've never seen it before and it wasn't an issue with my old router. It pertains to the DIR-655? I did some quick google searches and I've seen lots of different 'solutions' to this issue, but none of them seem to agree with each other and I'd rather not spend and entire afternoon trying one after another given that this router kills my internet connection for a full 20 seconds every single time I make any change.

They are adament about me not running a ethernet cable across the apartment to my room for my xbox 360. View 4 Replies View RelatedXbox is connected via ethernet to DLink. Router does not assign IP address to Xbox but does to all other wireless devices and wired computer. Xbox can connect to xbox live via direct connection to modem so cables and adapter are all good. Can't assign either static or dynamic IP address to Xbox. Have reset router to original config. Am at a loss of what else I can do?Have 2.01 firmware and have reset modem as well.PS....It has occasionally been connected in the past but currently no connection possible through router.

*I don't know if the TCP and System mechanic did anything or not to my network stacks/registry but that could be a possibility*
Time Warner Cable Modem

CAT5E and CAT 6 Cables... Would having two types in the same connection make the connection weird?I just want to really make my connection overall sufficient for gaming.. I don't want to worry about lag coming from client side at all.
1. I lose connection a lot, and I doubt it's on Time Warner's end cause I have called them multiple times about this..
2. I have to power cycle a lot with this router.
3. The Time Warner Cable people came out and put in new cable lines and connectors, so I doubt it's the cable lines.
4. No I don't suck at gaming, I am a pro E-sports athlete so I am very good I am just concerned about client side network lag, cause even on perfect registration servers from Eoreality that have a dedicated server boxes, I still get updated a lot... I have times where I shoot and I get the kill, and other where I know I should have gotten them?

How i can connect to my 5ghz wifi through my xbox ?
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy netgear router kept dropping my internet connection so after some research I bought the DIR-655 router. It installed fine. My computer connects to the internet great and so does my xbox. But now my xbox doesn't see my PC so I can not set up a media center connection. I know it isn't a firewall setting or a setting on my computer because it worked fine with my old netgear router and the router I had before that. I even double checked by turning off the firewall. I have version 2.0 firmware and the settings are out of the box. I assume there is something I need to set up to get this to work but I have not been able to find any answers on the internet. I don't know a lot about networking as I've always used out of the box settings and had success with everything working the way I like.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've been using the Dir-655 for 2 or 3 years with my old Xbox 360 and an external G wireless adapter. Everything was working perfectly until I got the dreaded Red Rings Of Death the other day. I replaced the Xbox with a new Slim version with built in N capable network adapter.
After more than 10 hours of trying a variety of "fixes" I found from MS and in this forum, I am still at square 1.

WPA Mode : Auto (WPA or WPA2) Also tried WEP

I tried assigning an IP manually from the Xbox. But, no matter what I do, the router will not accept it. It is especially frustrating that the Xbox is visible to the unit. It simply will not assign an IP to it under any circumstance.
If you read the sales hype promoting the Dir-655, you will see a lot of nonsense about it being great for gaming. Given that, you'd think a simple solution would have been found and posted for this issue by now. Surely, end users shouldn't be trying 100 different possible "fixes", none of which work, at this late stage of the firmware upgrades. If I sound a tad fed up, it's because I am. After the expense of the new Xbox, it appears I now have to junk my router too.
Here is the status screen taken when it was in mixed mode. Changing it to 'G Only' didn't make any difference:
I have recently bought a wireless N 150 usb Dlink adapter, i have installed the software and have conected it to my router using WPS (I do not know the passphrase). The adapter is working excellent but when I added the adapter, my old SSID (Dlink) got switched to Dlinkelb7. Dlinkelb7 has full bars when the old Dlink only comes up so often with one bar. Since the switch of Dlink to Dlinkelb7 my xbox 360 adapter has a very hard time connecting to Dlink and it will not connect to Dlinkelb7 because it needs a passphrase. My router is also Dlink Model DIR-615.
