Linksys Wireless Router :: WRT 160Nv3 Slow When Multiple Users Online
Nov 29, 2011I have a WRT160NV3. When more than 1 member of the family is using a device it gets really slow. For example, we have 3 laptops and a PS3. When the PS3 is being used for online play and someone gets online to watch videos, etc it is extremely slow. Is there an update to the router or do I need to upgrade?

Oct 9, 2012As of last night my router has been producing slow connectivity when multiple users are connected to it, but it's perfectly fine when only one user is connected. I am on a laptop myself, but we also have a second laptop and a desktop where the modem and router are set up. I have upgraded the firmware so that is up to date. We have Comcast Fiber Optics so my internet speed is normally quite fast even when all of my computers are connected.
I am using DHCP Configuration. My Channel Width is set to 20 MHz and I am using Channel 11. The Security Mode is set to WPA Personal. I had it on WPA2 Personal but I read that changing to WPA Personal might work and so far it doesn't seem to have done anything. I set the Beacon Interval to 50, Fragmentation Threshold to 2304, and RTS Threshold to 2304. Everything else is set to the default factory configuration.
Just today I received a notice that said "Windows has detected an IP Address Conflict", but ever since I reinstalled the Firmware it hasn't come back. I've rebooted both my laptop and the desktop to confirm it hasn't come back as well. I've tried everything that I could think of including reconfiguring my router and restarting my modem as well.
Slow Internet Speed - Multiple Users
Oct 16, 2011I live in a house with 5 other students. To be fair, it is in the middle of nowhere so the internet is probably very slow anyway, but here is my problem: Skype is so slow I can only just make a voice call, webcam chat is off the cards. YouTube and other videos are so slow to load I cannot watch them. My Xbox 360 constantly disconnects from the wireless, so I cannot play online.

Each hostel has a particular proxy address that allows us to access the internand by low i mean, quite lowet, and each user has a fixed bandwidth(which is low). My question is, is there a way for one user of a particular hostel to use the bandwidth of multiple users of the same hostel(such that they are in the same ip range, and have the same proxy server for accessing the internet).i.e Is there a way for me to increase my bandwidth by using the bandwidths of other non allocated ips within the range of my hostel, such that with a single broadband connection, i can utilize the the unallocated bandwidth.

Apr 3, 2012A thunderstorm about 3 hours ago fried my DIR-655 rev. A3 router. I heard a zapping noise and that was it. All the signals are messed up, even after a hardware reset, and the router runs extermely hot, with lots intermittently blinking and no connections.
I need another router with similar features, especially with a USB port for my printer.I found the DIR-655 reliable a long as it lasted, but I never upgraded the firmware, which was fine with me. Nonetheless I want to buy a more modern solution.
Talking to tech support at D-Link the DIR-825 was recommended. Is the DIR-825 router a good router for my needs ? Is it a worhty upgrade to the DIR-655 router ? Does Shareport work well with it ?
Router Near Appliances Not Giving Good Response
Aug 22, 2012I have ZyXEL PLA4201KIT Mini Powerline Ethernet Adapter Starter Kit Up to 500Mbps to connect my desktop to the internet and recently i've been getting random moments where i lose internet connection so everything stops working. I have to either restart my comp or take out the ethernet cord and put it back in. my router is next to our tv and i read somewhere that having it next to a big appliance will suck all the power for itself.

Feb 21, 2011I have a Dlink DIR 615 , I can never get it to manage the time correctly, even without any down time the time always goes off by hours or days. I tried using an NTP server option... 3.ca.pool.ntp.org but it doesn't work.... so I am not able to schedule the internet effectively router that they have that keeps the time and allows them to control the Internet access that would be good. My kids are teenagers so sometimes it is like talking to a wall trying to get them to control their internet, I can easily block them entirely as I have Mac filtering set, and I will do this, but I would like to not have to constantly check to see if they are online which is easily done with Ipods.

when visiting Switzerland and Italy with my German SIM card I noticed that roaming is not working very good with the TL-MR3020. The reason is that the internet provider needs to be set in the config, in my case to o2 Germany.When I travel with this SIM card to another country, I roam into other networks.As I cannot what provider is currently active (as o2 has contracts with almost every provider outside Germany) and even if I could see it I have to adjust the settings in the config if anything changes, the satisfaction effect on this trip was not very good.
Also I noticed that sometimes (only sometimes) the setting resetted itself to o2 Germany when unplugging the device, this added some extra negative satisfaction to everything.In my understanding the router should have an auto detection for the currently active network and auto setup for the dialin parameters and everything else. Like every smartphone on the planet. Maybe you can also add a setting where you can enable or disable data roaming to save people money if they do not have a international data option booked.

from the house I can connect to the first router via wifi with a decent signal strength but what I need to do is backhaul from the other router via wifi and then have another wifi network in the house.

Mar 5, 2012I have a PC attached to a standard 192.168.1.1 router with port forwarding turned on. The PC has an IP of 192.168.1.10 and I have Port 3389 (RDP) on the router forwarded to that PC's internal IP.
I currently have a DynDNS hostname, example.dyndns.org, and I type that into MSTSC (remote desktop) whenever I'm traveling.
But, is there a better way of doing this? The IP of the PC is not static, but it rarely changes. I do have a domain registered with GoDaddy and have full access to DNS records.
ASUS RT-N16 Still Good For Just Routing?
Mar 14, 2013My house is wired so any demanding network transfers are done over the wired network, wireless is reserved for casual stuff. This month my internet connection is eventually going to exceed 100Mbps so I need to dump my WRT54G and while I'm sure the RT-N66U is very nice, I could save $100 buying the RT-N16.
I have a gigabit switch that works great and handles all of the local traffic, I just need the router for DHCP, NAT, basic wireless connectivity, and it needs to be able to pull in over 100Mbps from the internet. So is the RT-N16 adequate for me?
