D-Link DIR-825 :: Best Optimize Setting For Gaming Experience
May 31, 2012
I need setting my 825 router on the best optimize setting for my ps3, Im running wireless on it and the router is about one room away from my ps3 which isnt that big of a difference since I am getting 95-100% signal on it, the issue is the rate speed runs about 36m-54m it NEVER, or at least I havent seen it go higher than that.I turned the QO6 engine but it didnt really change a thing, will running this wire do the majic? or is there another alternative set up I can do on the router to have it run on best settings.
I really am having troubling with my current router wrt120n and it is a dumb router that doesn't even know how to prioritize clients. A low priority client can still lag my gaming experience cause someone in my house is streaming videos. I need a router that isn't dumb and know how to prioritize connections and doesn't destroy my gaming experience. What would be the bestest gaming router out there?
I'm having some (i lie, a LOT) of trouble trying to run LAN games between my roomates laptop and my laptop. He has a Compaq laptop, bout 4 years old or so, wireless capable and everything. I have a 2010 11" macbook air. No ethernet ports on mine, hence me wanting to set up a wireless LAN.I have tried creating a wireless network from my mac and my mates laptop can join it. but thats about it. cant set up local games or even see eachother on the server lists.
How can I optimize my router to get maximum transfer speeds? I average 72 Mbps.Notebook-Speedtest.net 31.58Mbs down/3.08 up. I'm just confused about transfer speeds not being 300 Mbps. Can or should I correct this? When I purchased router it said the transfer speeds would be 300Mbps.
PC1: Connected directly through 1 gigabit ethernet LAN.I'm using a MSI GT640 notebook with a onboard NIC, Ralink Techology, Corp. 802.11bgn 1T1R mini Card wireless network adapter. Driver date: 7/6/2010, Driver Version: 18.104.22.168. ( WLAN RF module Ralink RT390, MSI MS 6891).
I own the DIR-655 version B1 (EU version) living in the UK.I play xbox, specifically in Halo Reach. My setup isn't straight forward as I have 2 xboxes in the house, one wired and one wireless and I need to keep the NAT ratings open on both. This limits me to certain settings, and doesn't allow QOS on the v2.00 firmware due to my need to have dynamic ip addresses.I have just flashed the router's firmware with new version (DIR655B1_FW205B06) as it appeared available for download in the router's firmware menu. The old version was FW2.00 as said.any other settings to enable or disable, for wired, or wireless, that will optimise for xbox gaming. Finally, I also have fw version DIR655B1_FW206B02, which was emailed to me by D-Link, if this is any better.
I bought a DIR-655 a less than a year ago on amazon, and it was working great up until about 4 weeks ago. Ive noticed that it has been dropping alot of packets while I am gaming on my computer. I would run about 95-98 ping usually and now it jitters every 5-10 mins or so from 95-98 to up to 500. It is really troublesome during games and I dont know what to do. Ive tried disabling QoS and still nothing. I run on wireless G and N with auto 20/40 mhz. Standard WPA(personal) and it was running absolutely great until now. I know its the wireless because I have hardwired it into my laptop, both from the router and just the modem itself with no problems whatsoever. I dont know what to do about it.
I have a wired connection to the router and typically all works fine. I have several Ipods and laptops accessing the router wirelessly with no real problems. As soon as I start playing America's Army (2.8.5) on my desktop (wired) my wireless connections all drop and the kids start yelling to turn the internet back on. When I exit the game all goes back to normal...
i have a d-link Dir-825 (Hardware Ver. B1/Firmware 2.02NA) and i wanna connect my ps3 to the 5ghz for online gaming but i cannot find the option for it. also when scanning on my iPod Touch and PS3 for a wireless connection i cannot find the SSID that i named for 5ghz and the only one that shows up is the other SSID i named for 2.4ghz.(both SSID are not the same name). is it really worth switching from 2.4ghz to 5ghz?
Is anybody deploying ASA Services Module? I am looking for feedback/gotchas/advice for a migration from an ASA-5550 HA pair.I also received confirmation from Cisco that VPN termination is active in the latest 8.5/8.6 code releases, so hopefully should be able to fully retire my 5550's.
I need to restrict access or rather, block altogether if i can, access of one of the computers on my local wireless network, to online multi-player gaming sites, in particular Age of Empires and Voobly.com, which also uses a messenger type program for them to chat.I've searched and searched online, but alas, have come up with nothing that i understand. I've tried doing the block ports thing, but am unsure if what i've been doing is right. I have blocked Voobly.com under domain and URL settings via the router admin page, but for some reason, it only seems to be denied on my computer. I even went so far as to register and download relevant programs to my computer, for Voobly, so i could see if the blocking worked. Seems it's only my computer that's blocked, i didn't specify ip or mac addresses.I am unable to get on the other computer as it's not mine, and it's also password locked. I don't know the password
A few days ago I received my DIR-655 I ordered off Amazon and hooked it up. There were no problems the first day after initial setup. The next day I noticed that I was losing internet connection even though the wifi indicator on my laptop said otherwise. This happens for about 5 minutes at a time and on other devices such as my desktop and my iPad. And I hopped on Call of Duty last night and played a competition with some friends and gave everyone 4bar connection. Later that night, I was playing some more and people that connected to me received 1bar connection and I got that in return on their connection. I feel that the router isn't working with my devices right?
I've got tons of fibre in my network. However, tbh, my knowledge about correct light levels isn't great. I generally wait until my router complains about a light level before I do anything. I would like to set up SNMP monitoring for light levels, but I need some kind of baseline.Anyone with extensive fibre experience? What light levels should I be looking at for both multimode and singlemode fibre?
I have a cable modem connected to a wireless router hard-wired to two separate ps3's. I am looking to get the optimum connection speeds out of my ps3. i have been told to use a switch instead of my router. i also want wireless in my house as well. modem switch (ps3 ps3 router)? if i connect my modem directly to one ps3 my ps3 will not find an ip address will this problem remain if i go through the switch or will it find an ip address? will this optimize my connection? will my connection be better if when not in use i unplug the thernet cable going to the wireless router from the switch? is there any other way to optimise my connection speed on my ps3?
How can I optimize my computer's connection speed? I'm using a Dell Vostro 1500 laptop, and I used to have Vista installed on it. When I used that, my connection(via speedtest.net) was around 25mbps. I reformatted it last Summer and installed Windows XP Service Pack 3 onto it. A few months ago, I used speedtest.net and my speed test was around 16mbps. Now, my speed test is 8mbps. How can I optimize my internet connection speed? My internet service provider is Comcast.
I have a WRT54GS v. 7.0 w/ the latest firmware. Im looking for ways to optimize the router for best performance. There are 4-5 iphones/ipads that will connect to it. 3-5 laptopsand one xboxNo wired connections.Im using COX internet on the west coast which provides good internet service. Im not an expert with networks or routers but i follow instructions real well. What can i do to my stock/default router to take 100% advantage of its capabilities?
I have been using a WRT-400n for a while with 2 pc's .. a tower close to it, and a laptop about 50 ft away in another room. As far a I can tell, I'm only using the 2.4GHz band on channel 11.We just added a Sony Bravia HD TV and a Sony Blu-ray VD player (which is really, as far as I can see, a cool internet access device which happens to play DVD's). Out favorite use is to watch TV shows and movies from Amazon. Problem is, streaming is very patchy, and sometimes what Amazon calls "connection speed" (which I think is really network bandwidth) gets so low thta the buffering fails, and we lose whatever we're watching.
I had an old LINKSYS WRT54GS whihc had a poor coverage of my whole home.I just bought a new E-3200 which is supposed to have a real higher coverage but seems not. When I am in a room at 15m from the routeur, no coverage !How can we optimize the coverage of the routeur ?
We are suffering slow https traffic download. We have a CISCO ASA 5550, Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance Software Version 8.0(5)19. When we try to download some videos from an https server we have a data download rate of about 140 kbps, but if we bypass the firewall and put a laptop just after the border router, data rate increase up to 350-400 kbps.
We configured a new interface in the firewall and we connected a laptop directly to the port in the ASA 5550, with a new ACL permit ip any any, just for test purposes, but data rate is still the same, 140 kbps.
My E3200 is set up with no encyrption/ security. The 5GHZ band is set to wireless N, channel width is set to Auto (20 or 40) channel is also set to auto. I have my 2 laptops connected on the 5GHZ band and both have excellent connection with 300mbps. I'm transfering some files between the 2 and an only getting 7MB (so ~56mbps). Both laptops are running windows 7 ultimate.
I've tried transfering music, videos, and some ISO's.
I'm running a Mac OS X Server on my network. I'd like to use the Server's DNS instead of my ISP's. In the D-Link Router I've set the DNS to the OSX server in the WAN section. Unfortunately it doesn't allow my clients on the network to connect to the internet when I do this.
If I set the DNS on the client to the OS X server it works fine. Or if I set the DNS on the router to my ISP's (or Google's) it works fine too.
Is this a route configuration issue? (And if so, what can I do to fix it?) Or is this an OS X Server issue?
I am trying to setup D-Link DAP-1360 as a range extender, but am unable to see the device from my browser. The IP address is given to be 192.168.0.50. My router IP address is 192.168.1.1 and my PC IP address is 192.168.1.34.
I want to extend the range of the wireless network using a 601 (or just a relatively lowend N series). Can I just set a 601 as a repeater? Not seeing anything in the manual that provides instructions. I don't have the ability to cable the routers together. I want to do it all wirelessly if possible.
I have been trying to setup my DIR-655 A4 (Firmware 1.34NA) router to send me email notifications on new firmwares, when the log is full and every Saturday. So I have a schedule already created for sending the emails on Saturday and I also have the option to send notification of new firmware checked. Now I have settings, similar to the following, under email settings.
Configured a D-Link DIR-601 router? The internet is connected, but there is a yellow triangle with a exclamation mark on the bottom right corner stating it isn't connected. I read the manual and did everything as listed, but still have the same issue.
I have read the sticky about the Game fuel, and i have tried resetting everything, static IP address, all the info i have found on line. i still i keep getting booted when i join a game, or most of the time i cannot join a party. No matter what changes I make it gets worse than factory setting. i have read for hours on different ways to set up the router and what not. i have changed settings on the PS3, router and still getting nowhere.so can some one pls tell me how to set this thing up before i use it as anger management.?i know how to access the router page . but i don't get the setting up port forwarding.
setting up the email notifications. I need the log emailed to me during a certain time of the day and it wont email anything. Even when I am in the log and push the email now, it does nothing. I've tried setting it up through hotmail, lmsn live, and gmail. None of them work. What am I doing wrong or what do I need to do?
My router was working just fine when a lightning struck. I cant seem to connect to the router's configuration page (192.168.1.1) anymore, All the lights on the router are on and I tried to reset it to default settings several times but still it wont connect. I tried it on a laptop but I still cant get it to connect. I can surf the net just fine when using the ADSL modem though. I can ping the IPaddress 192.168.1.100 but can't ping the default gateway which is 192.168.1.1. I also tried switching to another cable just in case but to no avail.
Here are some info:

I just acquired an Ipod Touch and am trying to set it up to connect to my exisintin DIR-615 router. It is about one year old, but I have misplaced all the info I had on it, including any password info. Trying to use the blue lit button on the right side of the router does not allow access to the Ipod, nor my daughter's Apple computer.
Are there changes I need to make or special procedures for Apple products?
