I want to extend the range of the wireless network using a 601 (or just a relatively lowend N series). Can I just set a 601 as a repeater? Not seeing anything in the manual that provides instructions. I don't have the ability to cable the routers together.  I want to do it all wirelessly if possible.

D-Link DAP-1522 :: Nothing Showing In Wireless Setting?

Mar 23, 2011

I got a DAP-1522 and here is my situation. I have a wireless router connected to the internet downstairs. I want to extend the range by creating a new wireless network upstairs. So I want the DAP-1522 to connect to the wireless router, and then become another access point upstairs.

I was able to connect to the wireless router in the DAP-1522 setup wizard, but nowhere was I able to configure that actual DAP-1522 WIRELESS setup. Nothing ever showed up on the "Wireless Settings". Just "Save Settings" "Do Not Save Settings" and the rest of the screen empty. On the status page it does show it is connected.

Am I doing something wrong or will the DAP-1522 not do this?

TP-Link ADSL2+ Wireless :: Setting Up TD-W8960N As Slave To DSL Router

Jan 24, 2013

Region : UnitedKingdom
Model : TD-W8960N
Hardware Version : V4
Firmware Version :
ISP : Be Internet

I have a router supplied by my ISP which is effectively locked down, the wireless on that router give me a massive 35 Mbps (yes i know... awesome) so I wanted to get something that would allow me to stream movies wirelessly in the house. The setup I had before was Thompson DSL router downstairs (ISP router) running the DSL connection and Wireless, a TP-Link 200Mbps Power over Ethernet connecting upstairs to a Netgear ADSL Wireless router (somewhat flaky device). This router had DHCP disabled and a static IP address, I had configured wireless with the same SSID, password and channel as the ISP router and they were all happy and everything was working (most of the time except when the netgear would crash or the 35MB wifi was too slow to achieve what I wanted).

What I would like to do is this... ISP router downstairs with wifi disabled so it just handles DHCP and DSL connection, router upstairs (New TP-Link) running new WiFi, DHCP disabled (static IP address for Router) but connected to router downstairs through TP-Link Power over Ethernet.

I was hoping it was as simple as the Netgear router where disabling DHCP was enough for it to see the other router and just work but it isn't doing that

I can ping the ISP router but cannot get to the internet,

D-Link DIR-615 - Setting Up Old Wireless Router As Wireless Bridge?

Jan 19, 2013

I have an old D-Link DIR-615 wireless N router that I am trying to re-purpose as a wireless bridge so I have network access in the back part of the house where I can't run ethernet wires.

I successfully installed installed DD-WRT on the D-Link and thought I had configured the D-Link into a wireless bridge; however, the D-Link just does not want to communicate with my primary Zoom Cable Modem / Wireless Router. Pings between the two devices return nothing. I disabled all security, they are on the same subnet ( and for the D-Link), same SSID, etc.

I attached a word doc with screen shots of the settings on both devices.

TP-Link Dual-Band Wireless :: WR2543ND / WDR4300 Not Setting Network Shares?

Feb 20, 2013

Region : Canada
Model : TL-WDR4300
Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version :

I have a client that has a WR2543ND (House) and WDR4300 (Office/Internet) router that are located in two separate buildings about 40ft apart. He has each one hooked up to external antennas connected on the outside of the buildings. Back in December I got WDS working between the two routers and the PC in the house was able to use the Internet in the Office as well as share resources between the office and house computers. Two days ago I was down there working on his network and I was having problems setting up network shares. I discovered I wasn't able to ping from the Office PC to the House PC or vice versa and what's even stranger, I couldn't ping the House PC from the House Router (WR2543ND). I checked WDS status and on the House Router is says "Run" but on the Office Router it says "Int" but the WDS is definitely up because I am able to ping from the Office Router to the House Router, plus I am able to use TeamViewer to connect to the House computer from the Office computer. There are no firewalls enabled on Windows. Lastly the DHCP server is only running on the Office Router.

Dell :: D820 Steps For Setting Up Wireless Connection To D-Link 1310 Router

Jan 7, 2012

I have just started using my D-Link 1310 Router after quite a few years of it laying around.  I managed to get as far as connecting my D820 and my Desktop in a basic Network.   I have Windows XP Home on both the Desktop and Laptop.  The next step I want to accomplish is making the Laptop wireless with my apartment.  When I first had the Router, I of course had Technical Support and my Warranty with Dell was still active, so I was walked through the process and took notes.  The only file I made note of for this step was installing the driver (US) WLAN Card Rev.A12, but there must be something else that enables the WiFi catcher because I don't have any icon in the System Tray and no way to access it.

I also remember it being necessary to Bridge the Modem and Router, (I believe we did it from the Verizon site).  Though I was told recently that Bridging is not used anymore, now they do a thing called "Double Netting"?

D-Link DIR-655 :: Setting DNS To OS X Server?

Jun 15, 2012

I'm running a Mac OS X Server on my network. I'd like to use the Server's DNS instead of my ISP's. In the D-Link Router I've set the DNS to the OSX server in the WAN section. Unfortunately it doesn't allow my clients on the network to connect to the internet when I do this.

If I set the DNS on the client to the OS X server it works fine. Or if I set the DNS on the router to my ISP's (or Google's) it works fine too.

Is this a route configuration issue? (And if so, what can I do to fix it?) Or is this an OS X Server issue?

If I ping the router from the WAN side, I get a very fast response. But when I disable ping from the administrative tools from the LAN side and reboot the router, I still get responses to my ping! I know the router is responding because if I disconnect the WAN cable from the router (connected to "INTERNET", the pings stop. So the router is ignoring user settings at Advanced->Advanced Network->WAN PING! Looks like a firmware bug.

D-Link DCS-930L :: Keeps Setting UPnP Even Though It Is Disabled

I have a DCS-930L network camera that I configured from its Web-based interface. In SETUP | Network Setup, I have disabled both UPnP and UPnP Port Forwarding. In my router's (Netgear WNDR3700) settings, I reserved the local IP address,, for the DCS-930L. In the DCS-930L I assigned the network camera HTTP Port 8000; therefore, I can access the DCS-930L on the LAN from [url].... In addition, in the router, I have forwarded port 8000 to the local IP address,, so I can access the DCS-930L from outside the LAN.I can access the DCS-930L both from within the LAN and outside of the LAN.

However, even though UPnP and UPnP Port Forwarding in the DCS-930L are disabled, the DCS-930L keeps adding and deleting UPnP NAT rules in the router. In addition, a system at the IP address,, keeps attempting to access the DCS-930L from different ports. I traced the IP address,, to the ISP, Telekenex, in Los Angeles, California. A partial log from the router is below.[code]...

D-Link DIR-655 :: Setting Up As Stable Router For Network?

I bought a DIR-655 today so i can port trigger to all my xbox's instead of only being able to port forward to 1 xbox from my Netgear CGD24N. My problem is setting up a stable network that wont drop out.

What i am trying to set up: Internet --> Modem (Netgear CGD24N) <---> Router <---> Everything else (2 Xbox's, 5 Computers, Phone's)

I have one ethernet cord from my netgear to the internet port in my D-Link. Is that correct?

They are both set to DHCP as that is the only way i have been able to create a network that i can connect to the net through my router. Problem is it is constantly reconnecting and only getting speeds of 2mb dl and 1mb up. (I should be getting speeds of 30mb dl, 2mb up.)

Setting Up TP Link TL-WR941D Router And Access Point?

Oct 1, 2011

setting up wifi network in my office. my complete set up right now. the main problem is how to setup my access points . Okay so here it is.

I have 3 - 4 PCS in my office out of which My machine is the main machine and everything is setup on this. so for networking what i have done is i am using a TP link router model TL-WR941D. i had got it configured from an engineer. A cable from my internet modem goes into the blue port of this router(WAN) and my PCs are connected via the LAN port of the router . so everything is working fine right now the local network and internet on all PCS and my laptop also connects through the wifi and is able to access other pcs and also the internet.

To have better signal strength on other floors of the building my engineer had installed 2 access points. They are TP link model Tl-WA901ND. yesterday i updated the firmware of my main router and the settings were some how lost but i managed to set it back to working state using the quick setup utility. so my router and wifi is working fine. But now my access points have stopped sworking . i mean i am not able to get better signal strengths thorugh them. i am assuming theirs ettings /ip etc are lost. now i have no idea how to setup these access points to be used again as part of my wifi network. I looked on the internet but nowhere the thing has been explained in detail. how can i configure my access points/repeaters agaain? i am stuck and engineer is not available for nest few days and my officee internet is suffering.
