Dec 27, 2011I uninstalled some pesky toolbar called sweet im from my brothers laptop. When I did so, the wireless card had disappeared.

Apr 20, 2012I think I am having problem with my network card I am running windows 7 with Dell wireless 1390 WLAN Mini-Card lots of times the signal is low and I get the error message no internet connectivity or some other error message that I am not being able to connect to the network provided by my wimax modem, Is there any program that I can download to test if there are any errors related to the network card or any way to fix this?

Aug 31, 2009I can't connect to the internet using wireless. Can access the internet just fine with my cable. All I see is the red x and its not able to detect any networks. I reinstalled drivers, it works fine for a second, and then dies out again.

Apr 21, 2013For the past few weeks, I have been having trouble maintaining a steady wireless internet connection. I intermittently lose the connection or the strength of the connection fluctuates. I have an Inspiron 1521, with a Dell Wireless 1390 Wlan Mini-Card. Also, I am running Windows 7.
A couple of hours ago, I suddenly lost my wireless connection and could not reestablish it. I ran the diagnostic tool, which reported that there was a hardware or driver-related problem with my 1390 mini-card. Now, when I go into Device Manager, it has an exclamation point next to it and it says "This device cannot start (Code 10)".
I have restarted my system and downloaded and installed this driver URL . Device Manager now says, "Windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date," but there is still a Code 10 error.
Does this just mean that the card needs to be replaced? I am not sure what to do now -

Oct 28, 2007I have new Inspiron 1720 running Vista with the Dell wireless 1390 WLAN mini-card. I will be connected to the wireless network just fine, but it will then disconnect. My problem is I cannot re-connect to it without having to do a total restart. I go to the place to refresh the list, and it finds nothing. I ask it to repair the network, and it can't becasue it cannot find a network. I have at least 4 other networks in the area that I can normally see, and none appear when I hit the refresh button. But I totally restart the system, and everything works fine again (until it drops again).

Feb 6, 2010I regularly get this message (but not everytime) when I start up Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit.
"Dell Wireless WLAN Card Wireless Network Controller stopped working and was closed.a problem caused the application to stop working correctly. Windows will notify you if a solution is available."
Then I get this following message:"Solution Found: Address a problem with your WLAN card.Your WLAN card has stopped working properly. This is a network adapter that allows your computer to connect to a wireless network. To find out if an updated version of your WLAN card is available, contact your device or computer manufacturer."The strange thing is even though I get this message I am still able to connect to the internet via a wireless network. So there is no problem as such it is just annoying to keep getting this message when Windows starts up.I have checked on the DELL Support website and I do have the most up-to-date driver already (Or I think I do).

Feb 2, 2012I recently re-installed the driver for the 1390 WLAN Mini Card after not having wireless for a few years, and have a few problems. In the Windows XP Home Network Connections folder, the Wireless Network Connection Icon shows, "Acquiring Network Address", but never gets past that. I ran a diagnostic in the "Dell Wireless WLAN Card Utility" and the card passed all the tests, even though with the card switch in the on position the LED doesn't light (??)
When I right click on the Wireless Network Connection Icon and choose, "Status", in the "General" tab I can see that the card is sending out packets, but none are being received. In the "Support" tab under "connection status" the following appears: "Address Type": Invalid IP Address, "IP Address": 0.0.0.0, "Subnet Mask": 0.0.0.0, "Default Gateway": (nothing listed).
Background: I have a Desktop (no brand) and the Dell D820 connected with a Westell Modem and a D-Link WBR-1310 Router. Both computers work great connected to the Router with a cable. Both computers are running Windows XP Home.
The only thing I can think of (and I'm remembering this from 2007 when I purchased the Laptop and had a wireless set up for a short while), is that the Modem and Router were bridged, which is not the case now. Do they need to be bridged for the wireless connection to work? Is it not necessary anymore and something called "Double Netting" or something like that is used...
Dell :: Inspiron 6400 - 1390 WLAN Mini-card Malfunction?
Nov 7, 2008I have a Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop running and with a Dell 1390 WLAN mini-card installed and a Broadcom 44/10x100 integrated controller.
Unfortunately I've never been able to get this laptop to function with my wireless Internet.
Everything's working out nicely, and the computer connects to the network smoothly. After 5-10 minutes of full and unproblematic Internet connection the computer crashes the wireless network i.e. the Inspiron and all other computeres connected to the network is disconnected and my wireless network no longer shows up on the list of available networks.
The network works perfectly with every other computer I've used with it.
I've installed the newest drivers for both the 1390 and the integrated controller from this site. And my Vista is of course also fully up to date.
I've also tried turning the antennae settings to "aux" - Alas, to no avail.

Dec 22, 2011The first is I have a laptop running XP with a Dell Wireless 1390 WLAN Mini-Card built in to it. But for some reason when I'm using that wireless connector my computer won't connect to my router and give me a 192.168.0.x address, it gives me a regular IP address. I can surf the net and everything but I can't access files on other computers. But from it it'll allow me to connect to the router admin fine.Whenever I put the mac address in to my DHCP setting on my router it comes up * RESERVED INACTIVE * and never gives my laptop a local ip address.The other problem is on my 192.168.0.2 computer I've tried to set up port forwarding but it won't open the ports. My router is a Motorola SBG6580 provided by my cable company. This particular computer is connected by Ethernet and not Wifi if that makes a difference.

Dec 27, 2011Ive just formatted both my hard drives and reinstalled win 7. Before this, my wireless connection was working just fine and after everything was complete with the win 7 installation a wireless connection cannot be detected. However, plugging an ethernet cable in allows me to access the internet just fine. I can also use the internet wireless'ly via my laptop, so its not a problem with my actual internet connection.After reinstalling I put my Gigabyte motherboard CD into the computer which ran some auto installations, one of which being a driver 'Realtek 8111/8168 LAN driver for gigabit (Win 7).' This didnt make any difference and I still could not access wireless internet. The list of component parts I got when I ordered my computer lists a '802.11N 300mbps PCI Wireless Network Card,' but no further info on make or model.

Dec 1, 2008I have an Inspiron 9400 with a Dell 1390 wireless adapter. My wireless connection usually works fine but I noticed that I was having trouble getting a wireless connection working at my parents' and in-laws' houses. I just ignored the problem for a while but I recently decided to figure out what was causing it. Long story short, any time a router uses WPA-PSK (I think this is also called WPA-TPIK) encryption then my wireless is very, very slow -- unusably slow. If there is no encryption or any other encryption (WPA2, WPA-EAS, WEP, any enterprise variation) then it works fine -- I tested all these with my own router (which normally is on WPA2). Also, many other laptops were able to get connected to both my parents and in-laws routers so the problem clearly lies with my laptop.
My computer is out of warranty so without paying $50 I can't get Dell customer service to: 1) confirm if this a known problem 2) let me know if there is an easy fix or 3) that myadapter is bad in a specific way. I've tried searching these forums but I haven't had much luck turning up an exact duplicate of my problem. I've updated to the latest drivers for my adapter.

Jan 1, 2008I just got an Inspiron 1520 for Christmas. So I have only been using it a few days. The first day I set up the internet connection I had no problem but now when my computer goes into sleep mode or hibernate mode I lose internet connection and it won't reconnect. It will seach for a network, then say that I have limited access or the network is unidentified. I have to either disconnect from the network and reconnect and sometimes I even have to restart the laptop to get the connection back. I have the Dell Wireless 1390 WLAN mini card.

Oct 20, 2012Up until a few days ago I had perfect wifi, but then all of a sudden, my wifi adapter disappeared. It's not a matter of turning it off/on. It has disappeared from device manager too, showing only Atheros AR8152 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.20). There used to be 802.11b/g/n WiFi thing there before.
I've tried system restore, reinstalling drivers, reinstalling windows. I succeeded for some time after I managed to update my Microsoft .NET Framework 4, and it worked until I went to sleep, but the laptop into sleep mode too, and in the morning it was gone again.
I'm writing this while basically sitting on my modem. The cable connection works just fine.I'm running a win7 x32.

Nov 25, 2011I just got a XPS 14z. The wireless signal isn't consistent and it is weaker than my old XPS 1330. It's actually painfully slow. Every thing is exactlly the same. I have my old computer next to the new computer and the wireless signal is working much better on the old computer. Pages are loading more quickly on the older model. Howothers wireless is performing on their 14z? There is nothing wrong with the router or internet connection.
