I have a pentium 4 pc and another Dell 5110 laptop have also 1 network wire i can connect either the pc or the lap and network is manual ip configuration my ip is ...,...,...,5I usually use PC with xp operating system ( working fine )but when i use the laptop it is always gives me ( unidentified network / limited connection )even the pc works fine ( i have just try it the moment before ).

i can search for networks. As you can tell i am currently on the internet on my laptop. I can search for the current network i am on through my adapter. I then connect to it. It says im connected to a unidentified network. It will not let me search the internet or anything else.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was given a dell latitude cpx laptop running windows xp recently with wireless b network adapter. My modem/router is a 2wire gateway DSL . When I brought the laptop home, it did not connect to my wireless network. It was able to find my ssid though, and the signal was weak even if I was close to the modem/router. Anway, someone suggested I switch from WPA to WEP encryption because old network adapters can only detect wep encryption ( or something like that) . So I did, and still no internet connection. i tried to ping yahoo.com and still not working. My DNS and Ip adress are set to automatic and still no internet. This laptop doesn't have an LAN port, so i guess it connects through internet wirelessly only. Someone also suggested i update my drivers for wireless adapter but i don't have the original disc that came along with it. This laptop was able to connect without problem before from a different network but not mine like a week ago.. I also have2 other laptops within this network and I never had a problem with it connecting wirelessly.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy wife just bought a new Dell Intel Centrino. I can't seem to get it to connect properly to the wireless router/modem. It is a Netgear cg814wg v2. The wireless status shows that the computer is connected to the internet. But yet the only thing I can seem to do is searches on Google. Any other site that I try to visit does not open. If I plug the laptop into the modem directly with a Ethernet cable it works flawlessly. So it seems that the laptop can communicate with other computers on the network, but I just don't have any internet. Or very limited internet. And I've tried this in both IE and Google Chrome.
I'm not a computer/wireless network genius, but I've spent hours trying to troubleshoot this issue with no success. I've reset the modem. Unplugged the modem. Typed config/all and all the other ones I found suggested online in the command prompt. Checked the settings on the modem itself and on the laptop. I Still can't seem to get it to work. I have 3 other computers in my house that all work just fine wireless. They are all older computers with XP on them. I also found out that the wireless adapter in the laptop is a N 1030 adapter. But I don't know if that is compatible with my modem or not.
Well I became convinced that the problem was with the Netgear itself and I needed a newer model. I contacted Comcast whom supplies the modem for me and told them my situation. She basically told me that I needed to contact Dell Technical Support to see if the laptop was set up or equipped with what it needed to be used with my Netgear setup. Well, she said something that sounded a lot better than that.
During this time we've had two different Internet Service Providers as well as two different modems. Also we've had 9 different devices connected to modem wirelessly. ( 2 Desktops, 3 laptops, 2 Xbox 360s, and 2 Nintendo Dss ) And this desktop is the only one that has had any issues, it's also the oldest of the devices. So I doubt the issue lies within networking but more with the actual desktop. I've even conneceted the desktop straight to the modem with an ethernet cord, also to no avail.
View 1 Replies View Relatedok i did the cmd ipconfig and it says media state disconnected.also i uninstall a network adapter it was the isatap one also it had a yellow mark one it so thats why i tryed to uninstall it i thought it would let me install it agian but it didnt so i did that add legacy hardware so now it shows it in the hidden devices tad with out that yellow mark also when i try the problem and solution found the isatap sayinf could not load driver software click on it and it says windows was able to successfully install device driver software but the driver software encountered a problem when it tried to run.the problem code is 31. the control panel tad would all was say microsoft windows came up saying window explorer has stopped working windows is checking for solution to the problem windows explorer the internet was working then and it still was i think it had that internet ball on it but when i try to use the internet it wouldnt connect

I am unable to connect to the wired network. We have a 4 port prolink router and there is no error with it. I know because I am using the same cable for my laptop, which I am using for my desktop. I just unplug it from the desktop and plug it to laptop. I am unable to provide any specs from the desktop because there is an error in that computer.
However, I can give ipconfig/all data from my father's computer, which use another port of the same router.
My laptop is working perfectly with the Mobile BroadBand. And this is a dual boot computer with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and the cable is fine with Ubuntu.

I have looked at several posts and tried them but nothing has worked so far. I unplugged the router and reset. I know I am missing something. am in the process of setting up an online business and now all of a sudden I have no internet access which is not good! I am connected to the router but it says unidentified network, local only...When I lost connectivity I spoke to my ISP provider and they took me through all the steps then determined that it is the router that is at fault and are sending me a new one. HOWEVER after I hung up I remembered I have an old router so I tried that one, same thing, then my neighbours gave me access to their wi-fi, same thing.... so suspecting that it is not the router I have dug out an old laptop which now connects fine to my router wirelessly.

Last night before I went to bed it was surfing the net fine and then this morning, nothing. No one has touched the laptop overnight and it was switched off all night so I have no idea how this has happened. I'm using my internet connection via my iPhone with no problems. I've already tried several things to try and fix the problem - I've reinstalled all network adapters, have fiddled with IPv4 settings, have deleted and re-setup my network connection, and have restored Windows to a previous point. The only way the internet works again is by me tapping the power button and putting it to sleep and turning it back on then the internet works but only for a couple of minutes.
I've tried everything, I've installed the latest wireless driver worked a little then went back to the same problem then I rolled back the driver it worked then it went back to the same problem. I've tried everything I checked power options, I reset the winsock and Ip,I tried a vpn still no luck. If I go to network and sharing center and trouble shoot it say that the adapter is not plugged in or the DHCP is not enabled which it is. Like today I could barely get on because it just showed unidentified network with no hope of connecting. On Xirrus it shows the hotel has more one ssid with the same name.
