Just bought a new Packard Bell Easynote laptop and even though it can detect my secure connection with BT it uses an unidentified connection and won't connect.

When I click on the connect to a network in the bottom corner the box does not show scanned networks, all that rads is "Windows cannot find any networks" (the router is will in range (~2m)) then when i click "diagnose why I cant find any networks" it tells me that the "network adapter is not installed and configured"
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy wife's Packard Bell EasyNote AJ300 has been working wirelessly from the same place for a couple of years. Now the task bar icon shows no handshake with the Netgear DG834G router 4 times out of 5 attempts. It seems to work if moved to the same room. On line issues (BTinternet) with my ethernet connected pc meant resetting and changing the router config. under instructions from Netgear support but that did not seem to affect the laptop at the time (6 weeks ago) (BT reset something in the exchange which fixed the fault) The laptop has not been used much till recently so there may be a connection.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Packard bell easynote R1938, which the motherboard died I bought one from ebay and stripped down the laptop to install the new board.It all went well Laptop back in a running state apart from the WIFI, the card is back in its original place and being detected by WIN XP. The problem is that the card status is 'WIFI is turned off use hardware switch to turn back on', now I know the hardware switch is tied into the keyboard under FN + F1 but it does not control the WIFI.I am wondering if there is any other way of turning on the WIFI?? or if the problem is one of drivers needed for the hardware switch as I do know there is an unknown item in the device manager but I couldn't find any drivers for the unknown.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI turned on my Netbook (Packard Bell NAV50, Windows 7) the other day and it would not connect to the internet. Not only won't it connect, but I can't even find any wireless networks, the icon in the bottom right just has a red cross. I'm currently using another laptop which can detect the network and next doors too so it is not a problem with the router. My PS3, phone, iPod etc also all connect fine. I've checked the fn f2 thing and that is definately on and working. Also when i click on "change adapter settings" in "network and sharing centre", it is there and is enabled and has the full green symbol icon but also has a red cross.

View 1 Replies View RelatedPackard bell alp ajaxc3 notebook has suddenly lost wireless,it has been working for about 18 months with no problems,the system is windows 7.first tried system restore about three times,no luck the toolbar shows the icon with a red cross but check the device manager and it shows the atheros adapter as working properly.tried ip config and it says everything is disconnected and the adapter as switched off.there is no external switch and I can't find any info on the net as to a software switch.the router is ok because my granddaughter dell works ok and I have two others with wired connects.even tried a windows repair via the install disc without luck,tried another adapter which it recognized and installed with the same result have been through the forum and tried everything that remotely resembled my problem,same result.
View 4 Replies View RelatedA couple weeks ago every device on my wireless network started disconnecting from the internet in unison and seemingly at random and then reconnecting. The time between these disconnects varied anywhere between almost immediately after regaining a connection and three to four hours later. As things stand I have a SpeedStream 5200 modem running into a D-Link DIR-655 wireless router. I have had no problems with internet connectivity up until this point. During each disconnect, every device remains connected to the router. I've called Bell and they claim there is no issue with the modem. To test their theory, I bypassed the router altogether, and attempted to connect through an ethernet cable, but to no avail, as the now hardwired device continued to get disconnected. These failures seem to be occurring between noon and 10 p.m. and to be honest I'm amazed that one has not cut this post short.

Cable is a CAT cable plugged into a wall socket.
Symptoms: No internet access, and network is displayed as "Unidentified Network".
Steps taken:
1. MAC address for the Ethernet LAN adapter given to sysadmin
2. TCP/IP reset. Winsock reset. DNS flush.
3. Uninstalled/reinstalled device drivers
4. Disabled ipv6
5. Complete system wipe, restore factory image
6. Checked device manager, all running properly.
7. Repeated steps 1-4 after wipe. No firewall, Windows Firewall is off.
Sysadmin checked the system, nothing out of the ordinary- it should be connected but it isn't. DCHP etc enabled. Said the sniffer on his end not picking anything up.

Since I can tether the laptop to my Android smartphone through WiFi with no problem I am contemplating setting up a wireless router to solve the problem.
I am also running Vista with Avast and 3 days ago it just stopped connecting to the internet and told me there is an unidentified network / local area connection only
I have actually restored to a point a long time back now, before I had avast and the problem still persists.
In device manager I have the 6to4 adapter with a yellow triangle next to it with an exclamation mark. Not sure if this is relevant as many posts I've seen elsewhere seem to say that you can ignore that, as the 6to4 is not what is used in connecting to the internet
My Computer has been working perfectly fine, the connection super and the network perfect. But for some reason I go to sleep everything's fine and now zilch. It say's im connected to my network but that it's unidentified and I can't get on to my Internet. It's just that computer though, everything else like this laptop can connect to the network and the internet. No changes were made so i'm really not sure what has caused this. Nothings new either. My signal strength is excellent as well. Password Protected sharing has been off, has this compromised me?

The connection allows only one device to run on one login name. I need to share this connection with my other device by turning my laptop into hotspot or thru ethernet. I have tried using Virtual Wifi Miniport and Connectify. I have tried LAN also. But I encounter the same problem in all the cases. As soon as I turn on internet sharing thru the properties of my public wifi connection, the Virtual Wifi or the LAN turn "Unidentified" and there is no internet on my other device. I even tried using a usb wifi adapter to connect to public wifi and sharing the internet over my laptop's adapter and vice versa but to no avail.

View 2 Replies View Relatedi am setting up a windows server 2008 to be used as a nas on my bell modem network that my pc is also on. the bell modem is then connected to a dlink 655 router by lan on the bell modem to wan on the dlink. the dlink is used for wireless connections to the laptops in the house. my problem is that the laptops cant see my nas but have access to the internet. should i switch my program for the nas from windows server 2008 to something like free nas or can i change setting in my router and modam?

After that, the router behaved strangely, wouldn't connect, etc., so I upgraded to the latest firmware, did a bunch of hold-the-reset-button-for-30-seconds resets, etc., and it seems to be working again.BUT.... the download speeds are very slow, both over wireless and through a wired connection to one of the router's ports. I'm gettting anywhere from 60kbps to 400kbps, but it's been hovering around the 100-200kbps range. Upload speeds are fine, nearly matching those over a direct DSL modem connection.

( 2 Desktops, 3 laptops, 2 Xbox 360s, and 2 Nintendo Dss ) And this desktop is the only one that has had any issues, it's also the oldest of the devices. So I doubt the issue lies within networking but more with the actual desktop. I've even conneceted the desktop straight to the modem with an ethernet cord, also to no avail.

I am connected to the router but it says unidentified network, local only...When I lost connectivity I spoke to my ISP provider and they took me through all the steps then determined that it is the router that is at fault and are sending me a new one. This part works fine, never had any issue with internet.Each of the computers also have its own GBE adapter but i wasn't really using them. Until now, i bought a switch and connected all 4 computers through rj-45 to the switch just so i could transfer files easier and especially much faster than through the wireless.This is where my problem is, the network works, i can see and transfer files just fine, the issue being, on each and every computer, the lan is considered as unidentified public network. Woke up around 9am, sat back down, Unidentified network and No Internet access. That's where this god-awful day began. I've tried so many things (from tech forums) I may forget a few... I've tried disabling IPv6, disabling Bonjour, enabling/disabling the adapter card, all kinds of stuff in the command prompt... reset this, flush that, restart restart restart restart restart. I uninstalled the adapter driver, rebooted, installed the latest from a flash drive, didn't do anything. Really the only suggestion I haven't taken is recovering Win7 from factory specs and reinstalling about everything since one guy said that still didn't fix it and this is causing enough trouble already without more misery in the mix.
