View 1 Replies View RelatedPackard bell alp ajaxc3 notebook has suddenly lost wireless,it has been working for about 18 months with no problems,the system is windows 7.first tried system restore about three times,no luck the toolbar shows the icon with a red cross but check the device manager and it shows the atheros adapter as working properly.tried ip config and it says everything is disconnected and the adapter as switched off.there is no external switch and I can't find any info on the net as to a software switch.the router is ok because my granddaughter dell works ok and I have two others with wired connects.even tried a windows repair via the install disc without luck,tried another adapter which it recognized and installed with the same result have been through the forum and tried everything that remotely resembled my problem,same result.

When I click on the connect to a network in the bottom corner the box does not show scanned networks, all that rads is "Windows cannot find any networks" (the router is will in range (~2m)) then when i click "diagnose why I cant find any networks" it tells me that the "network adapter is not installed and configured"
View 1 Replies View RelatedI turned on my Netbook (Packard Bell NAV50, Windows 7) the other day and it would not connect to the internet. Not only won't it connect, but I can't even find any wireless networks, the icon in the bottom right just has a red cross. I'm currently using another laptop which can detect the network and next doors too so it is not a problem with the router. My PS3, phone, iPod etc also all connect fine. I've checked the fn f2 thing and that is definately on and working. Also when i click on "change adapter settings" in "network and sharing centre", it is there and is enabled and has the full green symbol icon but also has a red cross.

Now the task bar icon shows no handshake with the Netgear DG834G router 4 times out of 5 attempts. It seems to work if moved to the same room. On line issues (BTinternet) with my ethernet connected pc meant resetting and changing the router config. under instructions from Netgear support but that did not seem to affect the laptop at the time (6 weeks ago) (BT reset something in the exchange which fixed the fault) The laptop has not been used much till recently so there may be a connection.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Packard bell easynote R1938, which the motherboard died I bought one from ebay and stripped down the laptop to install the new board.It all went well Laptop back in a running state apart from the WIFI, the card is back in its original place and being detected by WIN XP. The problem is that the card status is 'WIFI is turned off use hardware switch to turn back on', now I know the hardware switch is tied into the keyboard under FN + F1 but it does not control the WIFI.I am wondering if there is any other way of turning on the WIFI?? or if the problem is one of drivers needed for the hardware switch as I do know there is an unknown item in the device manager but I couldn't find any drivers for the unknown.

View 3 Replies View RelatedJust got a new printer Lexmark S605. I have a home network setup and works fine for my wireless laptops and my wired PC. 2 Wireless routers (one is an ADSL Model Netgear 865G and the other is my "trusty" Linksys WRT54G router).
They are both connected together - the DHCP is turned off on the linksys router and the wireless is turned off on the D865 router. so the Linksys wireless gets an IP from the D865 Router. Works great. no problems.
I also have my security setup for wireless:
1) MAC Filter
2) WEP
3) Channel = 6
4) Key Index = 4
The linksys will not see it. when I manually add the network it says connected but with limited connectivity. I see the IP as being a Private IP of its own (169.x.x.x). I of course DID add the MAC Address of the printer to the enabled/allowed MAC Filter list on the wireless router. I also tried configuring the wireless printer using my wireless laptop and the lexmark software and in here I was able to give it the Key index to use however it still failed to get an IP Address. It seems to authenticate just fine and maybe connect? But does not seem to get an IP Address and fails.

Every time she tries to print something to the wireless printer, the item just stays in the printing queue. However, once she restarts her laptop all of a sudden the laptop and printer seem to communicate, and the printer always starts printing whatever was in her queue from the previous time.so when she wants to print something it automatically starts printing, and she doesn't have to restart her computer every time to print stuff.

After that, the router behaved strangely, wouldn't connect, etc., so I upgraded to the latest firmware, did a bunch of hold-the-reset-button-for-30-seconds resets, etc., and it seems to be working again.BUT.... the download speeds are very slow, both over wireless and through a wired connection to one of the router's ports. I'm gettting anywhere from 60kbps to 400kbps, but it's been hovering around the 100-200kbps range. Upload speeds are fine, nearly matching those over a direct DSL modem connection.

While these printers work against the old Microsoft NPS we want to replace, I get "11500 Invalid or unexpected EAP payload received" on the ACS.
Windows/Android/iDevices authenticate against the same SSID using PEAP. I suspect, we ran into

The Cisco TAC refuses to open a SR because the product is under warranty only, and claims warranty only covers HARDWARE replacement... (and we ordered ACS is a VM,,,) Maybe I should burn the ISO image to a DVD and RMA it for repair .
Maybe Cisco could verify whether the fix for CSCtq46211 has been integrated to ACS Version 5.4.0.46-B.221 already or not ?

View 2 Replies View RelatedA couple weeks ago every device on my wireless network started disconnecting from the internet in unison and seemingly at random and then reconnecting. The time between these disconnects varied anywhere between almost immediately after regaining a connection and three to four hours later. As things stand I have a SpeedStream 5200 modem running into a D-Link DIR-655 wireless router. I have had no problems with internet connectivity up until this point. During each disconnect, every device remains connected to the router. I've called Bell and they claim there is no issue with the modem. To test their theory, I bypassed the router altogether, and attempted to connect through an ethernet cable, but to no avail, as the now hardwired device continued to get disconnected. These failures seem to be occurring between noon and 10 p.m. and to be honest I'm amazed that one has not cut this post short.

View 2 Replies View Relatedi am setting up a windows server 2008 to be used as a nas on my bell modem network that my pc is also on. the bell modem is then connected to a dlink 655 router by lan on the bell modem to wan on the dlink. the dlink is used for wireless connections to the laptops in the house. my problem is that the laptops cant see my nas but have access to the internet. should i switch my program for the nas from windows server 2008 to something like free nas or can i change setting in my router and modam?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a new Dell Inspiron 7600 pc running on windows 7 home premium and to enable access to our wireless internet I installed a Realtek 8185 wireless pci adaptor. It has worked fine (although not without the occasional blip) but recently it has stopped working. I could connect to our wireless network but connection came with a small exclamation mark on the wireless connection icon in the system tray. I tried reinstalling the most up to date drivers I could find on the realtek download website and this has removed the problem of the exclamation mark with the wireless connection claiming it now has internet access. However the internet is now so slow (vastly slower than before these problems began) I get timed out errors whenever I try to access any web pages. I have ruled out the router being an issue as my two housemates' computers are working just fine.

What I get is an error message that the printer is offline -- which it isn't; it's on. I tried going thru the setup on the printer, re-entering the SSID, and it said it was connected. Still same error that it's offline.
About a month ago, I did change the name of my router, but it never cause a problem with printing from my desktop, which I can still do. It's just the laptop that gets the "offline" error.What do I need to do to make the laptop recognize that the printer is on?
