View 1 Replies View RelatedJust got a new printer Lexmark S605. I have a home network setup and works fine for my wireless laptops and my wired PC. 2 Wireless routers (one is an ADSL Model Netgear 865G and the other is my "trusty" Linksys WRT54G router).
They are both connected together - the DHCP is turned off on the linksys router and the wireless is turned off on the D865 router. so the Linksys wireless gets an IP from the D865 Router. Works great. no problems.
I also have my security setup for wireless:
1) MAC Filter
2) WEP
3) Channel = 6
4) Key Index = 4
The linksys will not see it. when I manually add the network it says connected but with limited connectivity. I see the IP as being a Private IP of its own (169.x.x.x). I of course DID add the MAC Address of the printer to the enabled/allowed MAC Filter list on the wireless router. I also tried configuring the wireless printer using my wireless laptop and the lexmark software and in here I was able to give it the Key index to use however it still failed to get an IP Address. It seems to authenticate just fine and maybe connect? But does not seem to get an IP Address and fails.
Lexmark S600 wireless printer. It worked fine with my old dlink router but now with the new DIR 655 I have to reboot the router after afew days to communicate with the printer.

Every time she tries to print something to the wireless printer, the item just stays in the printing queue. However, once she restarts her laptop all of a sudden the laptop and printer seem to communicate, and the printer always starts printing whatever was in her queue from the previous time.so when she wants to print something it automatically starts printing, and she doesn't have to restart her computer every time to print stuff.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got a new-to-me multifunction printer that's "network ready" (ie, has an ethernet cable port.) I also got myself an asus wl-520gu router. For now the router has the factory installed firmware on it, but i could put tomato or ddwrt on it. also in my house I have a linksys router already set up with a WEP encrypted wireless SSID which me and my 5 roommates share. I guess for the purpose of this post we can call that network "Kermit" and pretend it has password "ilovepiggy" This router sits on the second floor landing in our three story house. My printer and this asus is going to be in my room, which is on the first floor. I'd like to
a) get better signal strength/speed in my room
b) network my printer so that I and others can print to it / scan from it wirelessly over the network. Can I do both things? and what would that setup be like? Would it mean making the ASUS a wireless repeater? at what point in the process and how do I add the printer?
I'm newbie in Networking. I want to establish a small WLAN network where all the laptops (6 laptops) can use WiFi Internet and also can print via a network printer.I have these hardwares:1: DSL Modem2: A Belkin F5D8233-4 300 Mbps router3: A Network printer (with RJ45 ethernet port, Not wireless printer)4: LAN Cable (if needed)5: Finally 6 Client Laptops

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have 2 desktops (running windows 7), a Canon MF8300 printer, and an outgoing ethernet line, all on a Netgear Advanced Cable Modem Gateway CGD24-CPR. I'm only concerned with having the 2 desktops set up with the Canon printer. Both computers have been connected to the printer before and I have the startup disk. But once the new offices were set up and both of the desktops were moved, I can no longer access or find the printer.
I can IPconfig the Desktops for their IPV4 addresses and both desktops recognize eachother on a Homegroup, but I can't find the printer. I printed off the print configuration page from the printer which gave me an IP address (printer is set for auto-obtain), but using an IP search won't bring up the printer. All of the devices are plugged into ethernet ports set up for the three different office they are in and the actual location of the Netgear cable modem/router is over 100 feet away. My primary concern is getting the printer for the desktops, but I also need to add a wireless router into one of those office in the future.
I can't find my WEP key to set up my wireless printer.

Recently I ran into issues with Lexmark wireless printers authenticating against the ACS 5.4.

Fixed-In 5.3(0.40.7)
setting up a new VM with ACS 5.3 patching it to P7, reconfiguring and retest all the stuff we implemented during several days ist not an option.
The Cisco TAC refuses to open a SR because the product is under warranty only, and claims warranty only covers HARDWARE replacement... (and we ordered ACS is a VM,,,) Maybe I should burn the ISO image to a DVD and RMA it for repair .
Maybe Cisco could verify whether the fix for CSCtq46211 has been integrated to ACS Version 5.4.0.46-B.221 already or not ?
I have a network printer which is connected to unmanaged switch, then unmanaged switch is then connected to one of the slots on the router (to get internet access). I use the program Free IP Scanner to look for the IP so then I can find the IP address of my printer. Then I would go to Port setting of the printer and change. Every week or month I have to do this. Two things I would like to know:
1. I have a 2003 server which is not connected or active yet. it's just sitting there running but no computers or printers are connected yet. How do I make this to be a printer server and solved my issue of having keep tracing the IP for my printer?
2. If not using the server, how would I setup my printer IP address to be permanent?

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy father works at a mall in a shop and had bought a Brother 2270DW printer (wireless and wired networking) to find that it was a bit bigger than he had anticipated it to be and does not fit on his kiosk desk, and so gave the printer to me yesterday. He was wondering if it is possible to setup the printer so that it could be printed to from over the internet. After I reserved a DHCP IP address for the printer, changed 'admin' and 'user' passwords, and disabled some protocols, I made sure IPP was enabled and that port 631 (TCP) was forwarded on my DD-WRT router.
I added the printer as my external IP address [URL] in Windows, selected the correct driver as provided by Windows Updates, and attempted to send a test page without success. This would be my first time trying to setup a printer for over-the-Internet printing (aka IPP).what I could do to try get this to work?
Im trying to setup a cable modem which is also a router that has a printer attached to one of its lan ports. From there it connects to another router which connects to other clients from there i have another router with a VPN connection with other clients. I would like to be able to see everyone on the network. How do I setup the routers in particular the router with the vpn which is the last router. Also the vpn router is connected through its WAN port to the router ahead of it at its lan port so it can use its VPN connection. If it makes it easier lets ignore the cable modem as router and ill find the printer another way of connecting but essentially i need the two other routers for two ip addresses. One for the first router with my regular IP and then the other is for VPN IP.

However, I need to share a printer amongst all of the computers. The printer is LAN enabled and I would normally just put all the PCs on a hub, together with the printer and share it that way. BUT my question is can we access the internet using the wireless network and the printer using a separate wired network at the same time?
