My V715w printer works on USB. How do I get it setup as wireless? I have followed all the suggestions in the book, my network works super for both my computers, but it won't recognize the printer will not recognize my network?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got my first wi-fi printer, a V715w. Even though the Wi-Fi light on the front of the printer is green, I very often can't print to the printer. I get a box saying the printer can't communicate with the computer. I would have thought that the green light was signifying that Wi-Fi communications existed. Wrong? Then what does the green light signify? When I check the settings on the printer front panel, it shows the all the correct info, SSID, etc.. Do I need to do something each time before I try to print in order to ensure a wireless connection exists? Shouldn't the printer stay connected to the Netgear dual band wireless N router all the time? The computer, Win XP, sp3 stays connected to the router all the time. I expected the printer to do the same.

I'm getting to the last barrier to my Router USB printer working..The UPS is seeing my printer now but the last hurdle is the Printer Setup program. It is not comatible with Windows 8 apparently. The one I downloaded of the support site doesn't run either. Any news off one coming out for Win 8?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have had this printer for a while now and I was using it with a Aciontec DSL wifi modem. It connected just fine without any problems via the installation software and a usb cable to initalize. I just swtiched from DSL to a Cable setup. I am using a Motorola "surfboard" SBG901 with built in wifi. It came pre installed with a WPA PSK string. Every time I have tried to connect it would not accept the WPA PSK string and being a legit 8 -63 charcters. I messed around witht he Cable modem settings and eventually decided to turn off all proection for a second to see if I could connect. Sure enough I was able to connect. In my Cable modem settings I have WPA/WPA PSK/WPA 2/WPA2 PSK . When you select either WPA or WPA2 it greys out the WPA PSK and WPA2 PSK selections and vice versa. I am using WPA PSK currently. I tried to switch to WPA but the passcode section was greyed out and had some "radius key section". I am not too familar with network settings just the basics. I used the Dell Wireless connection utility and tried setting up a manual connection by putting in the ssid and what type of protection but it still would not accept the passcode as being a WPA.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron E1505 running windows xp. Also an HP Photosmart C6180 wireless printer. This happens every time I move. I get the computer on the network and the printer on the network but they don't talk. I can't ping the printer and I can't bring up the embedded web browser. I can print the network config page from the printer but can't print a test page from the computer.I've disabled my firewall. That hasn't worked. I've tried creating a port especially for that ip address. However I don't have the disk for the printer and when I had to select my product, it only showed the C6100 series BT. I don't know what BT means but I selected that. I don't know what that means but it still won't print. The printer shows up in my printer and faxes menu but when I ran the HP print diagnostic utility no printers were displayed.

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the wireless printer, modem and laptop to tall to one another. Am I missing something or should it all work? The laptop has internet access. The laptop also shows the printer installed with a big green tick next to it but it says it is offline. At no point has a green light appeared on the printer to indicate any wireless connectivity to the modem.

These are configuring printer, resetting printer & connecting to wireless network. It fails on Acquiring network address & communicating with the printer!
I have tried the following without any luck, uninstalling & re-installing, powering down cable modem/router, changing security settings on router from 64bit wep to 128 wep & WPA/PSK, dell expert taking control of my laptop & trying to connect (which resulted in Dell sending me a new printer because the expert seemed to think it maybe a faulty wireless card in the printer, this is not the case becuase the same problem occurs with the second printer dell have sent me!). I have downloaded & installed the latest drivers for this printer from the dell website & I've switched off my security (anti virus/firewall) when trying to install.
I am completely stuck as to what to try next, the printer works perfectly fine from the USB cable.

I use the program Free IP Scanner to look for the IP so then I can find the IP address of my printer. Then I would go to Port setting of the printer and change. Every week or month I have to do this. Two things I would like to know:
1. I have a 2003 server which is not connected or active yet. it's just sitting there running but no computers or printers are connected yet. How do I make this to be a printer server and solved my issue of having keep tracing the IP for my printer?
2. If not using the server, how would I setup my printer IP address to be permanent?

In the past, I have copied the wireless network profile to a USB drive and inserted it into each machine and ran the setupSNK file to add the machine to the network. However, that was for 20 machines, I now have to configure 600 machines with the same wireless password and was wondering if there was an easier way. The access point to computer ratio is is 1:10. I have also tried using Altiris to deploy the setupSNK.exe file automatedly to each machine but I have not had any success. Re-imaging the machines is not option because sysprep clears off all network information.

For now the router has the factory installed firmware on it, but i could put tomato or ddwrt on it. also in my house I have a linksys router already set up with a WEP encrypted wireless SSID which me and my 5 roommates share. I successfully set the IP, SM, GW but was unable to find anyway to configure the DNS1 or DNS2. Do the DNS's need to be configured for it to print?
