When I first installed the router I used the built-in provider settings for "ONE" which used to be the name of the provider before it was taken over by orange.at. It seemed to work fine but I experienced some funny server errors with certain web services. I contacted orange.at about this and they told me to adjust the provider settings in the router as follows:
Dial number: *99#
APN: fullspeed
The reason for the problems was that they use different proxy servers for their services and applications. Now it works fine (so far).

I'm getting to the last barrier to my Router USB printer working..The UPS is seeing my printer now but the last hurdle is the Printer Setup program. It is not comatible with Windows 8 apparently. The one I downloaded of the support site doesn't run either. Any news off one coming out for Win 8?
How do I setup a WRT160N as a wireless adapter to connect a wireless printer to my network? I do not use the wrt 160 as a router because I have an AT&T router for u-verse connection. Also, I physically cannot wire the printer to the main router (opposite corners of the house).

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a network printer which is connected to unmanaged switch, then unmanaged switch is then connected to one of the slots on the router (to get internet access). I use the program Free IP Scanner to look for the IP so then I can find the IP address of my printer. Then I would go to Port setting of the printer and change. Every week or month I have to do this. Two things I would like to know:
1. I have a 2003 server which is not connected or active yet. it's just sitting there running but no computers or printers are connected yet. How do I make this to be a printer server and solved my issue of having keep tracing the IP for my printer?
2. If not using the server, how would I setup my printer IP address to be permanent?

View 14 Replies View RelatedI just got a new-to-me multifunction printer that's "network ready" (ie, has an ethernet cable port.) I also got myself an asus wl-520gu router. For now the router has the factory installed firmware on it, but i could put tomato or ddwrt on it. also in my house I have a linksys router already set up with a WEP encrypted wireless SSID which me and my 5 roommates share. I guess for the purpose of this post we can call that network "Kermit" and pretend it has password "ilovepiggy" This router sits on the second floor landing in our three story house. My printer and this asus is going to be in my room, which is on the first floor. I'd like to
a) get better signal strength/speed in my room
b) network my printer so that I and others can print to it / scan from it wirelessly over the network. Can I do both things? and what would that setup be like? Would it mean making the ASUS a wireless repeater? at what point in the process and how do I add the printer?
I am trying to setup a HP Laserjet 4100N printer so that it can be printed to wirelessly. The printer is connected to the network by an ethernet cable. The tech guys told me to configure the printer as so...
IP: 10.4.100.205
SM: 155.155.155.0
GW: 10.3.100.1
DNS1: 209.183.205.35
DNS2: 209.183.192.65
I successfully set the IP, SM, GW but was unable to find anyway to configure the DNS1 or DNS2. Do the DNS's need to be configured for it to print?
I would like to set up a home server, that will sit under the stairs so that it can link to out BT home hub (v3). The idea is then to connect the printer to it, so that we can have both a wireless printer and a central file store for pictures/vids etc.Is XP ok for this? if so, what settings do I need to change/add?Is there any software that I need to make it work? How do I make sure that it is secure for external hacking? As it will contain our personal docs/photos etc and I would hate to use them.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy father works at a mall in a shop and had bought a Brother 2270DW printer (wireless and wired networking) to find that it was a bit bigger than he had anticipated it to be and does not fit on his kiosk desk, and so gave the printer to me yesterday. He was wondering if it is possible to setup the printer so that it could be printed to from over the internet. After I reserved a DHCP IP address for the printer, changed 'admin' and 'user' passwords, and disabled some protocols, I made sure IPP was enabled and that port 631 (TCP) was forwarded on my DD-WRT router.
I added the printer as my external IP address [URL] in Windows, selected the correct driver as provided by Windows Updates, and attempted to send a test page without success. This would be my first time trying to setup a printer for over-the-Internet printing (aka IPP).what I could do to try get this to work?
I have a question with the CAPWAP command. Typically, when I get 1142N from our provider, they have no configuration on them and all I need to do is enter 4 lines of code all starting with CAPWAP and then I have them join the controller and finish the config. This one I just received looks like it has an IOS image or configuration on it. (You can do a show run). I can: show CAPWAP - but I can not enter any CAPWAP commands. They are invalid input detected at marker. How to I get to the point where I can enter my CAPWAP commands ??

From there it connects to another router which connects to other clients from there i have another router with a VPN connection with other clients. I would like to be able to see everyone on the network. How do I setup the routers in particular the router with the vpn which is the last router. Also the vpn router is connected through its WAN port to the router ahead of it at its lan port so it can use its VPN connection. If it makes it easier lets ignore the cable modem as router and ill find the printer another way of connecting but essentially i need the two other routers for two ip addresses. One for the first router with my regular IP and then the other is for VPN IP.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWe recently switched from cable internet to Verizon DSL since my roommate moved out and took his equipment with him. I set up the wireless router last week and got my laptop to work on the wireless connection. Now I am unable to get my boyfriend's computer to connect to it, when it never had this issue before with the previous wireless. The first day I had it set up, it said it connected, with an "excellent" connection strength, but then the status was 'unable to connect.' I was on the phone with the Verizon guy, who after doing a screen share, said it was my IP address.
So I tried resetting my IP through the CMD, with no luck. Now it doesn't even let me connect to the wireless at all. I've tried both the Intel PROSet/Wireless and the Microsoft client to connect (this is running Windows XP) and when I click 'repair' on the Microsoft client, it tells me it couldn't be corrected because it could not renew the IP address. The firewall is currently off and I removed the defunct McAfee that was never renewed anyway[CODE]

View 9 Replies View RelatedIn the settings menu, there is no l2tp in which it was possible to configure a local address of the router. It should be: 10.155.41.41There is an option only for VPN server setup(10.255.255.254), but where it takes a local address that my provder has gave me? - it is not clear. At the same time in the status of the router receives a DNS correctly and the second address embarass me little bet DNS should be:
1) 80.252.130.253
2) 80 252.130.254
first dns is correct, and second one looks like: 80.252.45.86Maybe he does not take a local setting of ip adress via DHCP?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Time Warner modem/router. There are a ton of different devices constantly being connected/disconnected to our router - itouches, computers, smartphones etc.
The problem started with my otherwise super reliable HP g42 (i3) laptop. Nothing would solve the issue other than recovering it back a few days to when the issue wasn't happening. But then it would happen again after a few days. All other devices would connect without issue.
Time warner's technical troubleshooting consists of "unplug the router for 10 seconds and then plug it back in. Did that work?"
So now, my son gets his first computer and I bring it home last night. Also an HP (pavillion -i3). Same deal. At first, it connects fine and dandy. Then after about 2 hours it get the ol' "won't connect - diagnose the problem?" After diagnose, it says "DNS server may not be available.
Here's the thing: Both computers connect immediately and without issue to my smartphone wireless tether.
