My laptop is the E6420 and I cant connect to the Internet, the little wireless icon doesnt even show up in the taskbar. tried to set up a new network, didnt work, it says the modem's been removed. but no other info.

I have a Dell Latitude E6420. My computer had Windows 7 and I re-imaged it with Windows 7 (because of a procedure for work, something about removing myself from their network.. I was just following the directions I had been given). Since the re-image, I cannot connect to the internet whatsoever. With a cable or wirelessly. My computer recognized the wireless networks I had at my house before the re-image, but there is no longer a wireless adapter even under my "network adapters." Moreover, every single "Other device" has a yellow exclamation point next to it. I cannot connect to any internet at all to remedy the problem and am at a loss for what to do.

I downloaded the tar.gz, extracted it, and double clicked on misc/<some long filename>.deb, which opened up the software center, and I hit install.Installation fails saying the dkms dependency failed, but I have dkms installed.
I have a Latitude E6420 and I am lead to believe it has bluetooth but I am unsure on how to locate it or connect to anything else.

I have installed it with no problems except for the WiFi: when I install the driver I get this message in the Device Manager Properties window and the WiFi radio does not work (Intel software says no devices exist):

a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)
The device is Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced-N 6205.
Is there an updated driver that I can install to get this to work?
I cannot connect my Dell Inspiron 1300 through the NetworkManager "wired" connection, when I try to go direct to the cable modem. It fails to connect. If I connect the cable modem to my (linksys WRT54GS) wireless router, and then connect my laptop to a wired port in the router, it connects in seconds, successfully, This has happened to me 2 other times, when I tried to connect my laptop to a client's cable modem, because my client did not have a wireless router available, in their home. My wireless works fine. This has me perplexed. I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and NetworkManager Applet 0.8, I've tried some things to see what is going on, such as "ifconfig" "dhclient" as well as modifying the "Auto eth0" parameters and adding my laptop's MAC address, etc.
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy Dell Lattitude E6420 WIFI adapter disables anytime I plug my laptop into the adapter and electric wall outlet. It has the Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205 adapter. I've downloaded the latest drivers, updated the power settings on the adapter etc. it's becoming a real problem as I often have to be mobile moving from office to office and up having to stay on battery power until it almost dies to avoid having to go into Device Manager each time I plug back into to re-Enable my adapter.

I have an HP laptop that is running windows 7 that is wireless.When I look at network computers on the dell I get an error message that says that the computer is not accessible. The same thing happens when I try to log onto the desktop from the laptop. When I try to run the network wizard from the desktop, I see see connect to the internet, connect to a wireless router or access point, setup a dialup connection and connect to a workplace.None of them make sense but I tried connect to a wireless router and got a message that said to set it up manually or set up a flash drive, neither of which makes sense. I tried set it up manually and all that happened is the router setup screen opened up.I tried the same thing on the laptop and the setup the network wizard opened a screen that said choose a wireless router or access point to configure, but nothing ever showed up on that screen.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm desperately trying to set up my old D-Link DI-524 on my parent's Toshiba laptop...I'm visiting and going thru withdrawals! I've installed it, run the wizard etc but it doesn't work...not even wired. I've tried various cable configurations and I get nothing. Both cables are good and work just fine connected to the modem. I've reset it a few times, upgraded the firmware and still nothing...I'd think I'd at least get it to work hard wired. My laptop can see the network I set up even...but no data transmission. I'm not a wireless expert, but I need to become one fast!

My current setup: NetGear Wireless router is connected to my D-Link wired router, and I can access the internet no problem. View 13 Replies View RelatedI have an Inspiron 570 desktop that has worked fine for at least 6 months since the warranty expired...we had a power surge last week while I was gone and when I returned I was unable to get the wired network to work. I ran the diagnostics and it said that my cable was not plugged in...it was. I rebooted, reseated cables, etc. with no luck. I reset the cable modem and router, reseated cables, rebooted, etc with no luck. I plugged the cable into a laptop and it worked fine.
The diagnostics tools on the desktop indicate there are no issues with the network adapter and that it is allegedly working fine. What I have noticed is that the light indicators on the RJ45 jack on the back are steady state yellow and orange, regardless of whether there is a cable plugged into it.
I have an hp g62 laptop and it has an Atheros ar9285 wireless adapter and a realtek pci-e ff ethernet adapter. For some reason just recently neither will connect to my netgear cable wifi router. I have two smartphones,xbox and two other laptops that connect with no problem. Everything is configured correctly that i can tell and both drivers have been updated. still nothing, it trys to connect but keeps saying identifying then it says no internet access. also i have disabled firewall and entered the security paraphrase twice just to make sure.

I am unable to connect to the wired network. We have a 4 port prolink router and there is no error with it. I know because I am using the same cable for my laptop, which I am using for my desktop. I just unplug it from the desktop and plug it to laptop. I am unable to provide any specs from the desktop because there is an error in that computer.
However, I can give ipconfig/all data from my father's computer, which use another port of the same router.
My laptop is working perfectly with the Mobile BroadBand. And this is a dual boot computer with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and the cable is fine with Ubuntu.

I have a Dell Inpsiron with Windows XP. It will connect to many wireless networks, just not to mine, which of course is my kind of luck. It detects my network but when I enter my key and try to connect it says it's unable to connect. I have picked through a few other forums and saw that I should check my Device Manager. Now I did, but I have no idea what I gained with knowing that my Network Adapters are:
-Dell Wireless 1370 WLAN Mini-PCI Card
-Intel(R) Pro/100 VE Network Connection
And I'm sure my "radio button" is on, because I can connect to other wireless networks right now, just not mine.

All other devices in my house are getting a perfect signal from the network but my computer either can't find it, or only has 1 green bar and says it cannot connect. I've tried a system restore, I've tried to troubleshoot on my computer and can't figure it out. The weird thing is it is picking up other wireless signals fine (like my neighbors, ect) but just not my home one. View 1 Replies View RelatedI was given a dell latitude cpx laptop running windows xp recently with wireless b network adapter. My modem/router is a 2wire gateway DSL . When I brought the laptop home, it did not connect to my wireless network. It was able to find my ssid though, and the signal was weak even if I was close to the modem/router. Anway, someone suggested I switch from WPA to WEP encryption because old network adapters can only detect wep encryption ( or something like that) . So I did, and still no internet connection. i tried to ping yahoo.com and still not working. My DNS and Ip adress are set to automatic and still no internet. This laptop doesn't have an LAN port, so i guess it connects through internet wirelessly only. Someone also suggested i update my drivers for wireless adapter but i don't have the original disc that came along with it. This laptop was able to connect without problem before from a different network but not mine like a week ago.. I also have2 other laptops within this network and I never had a problem with it connecting wirelessly.

When i go in to view the options it gives for Wireless Mode it says B/G or just B or G. Now up top it does say 802.11N Mode and has the option for Enable and Disable and its Enabled. I can see my routernetwork and the signal strength is good, but when I try to connect it says that it cannot connect. When I press connect diagnose problem it quickly opens a small window stating that windows could not connect to "Kat-wifi" (my network. I have tried rebooting the computer as well as rebooting the router by uplugging and waiting the 30 sec to 1 min and then retrying but to no avail. When I connect the computer to an ethernet cable I AM able to connect to the interent. I even atempted to manually run a test with the wireless and it passed everything except the PING test. it stated NO RESPONSE DHCP SERVER. I tried then to go to the screen of Wireless Network Conenction Properties and checked the IP Version 4 (TCP/IPv4 and both the obtain IP address and Obtain DNS server automatically are already on.
