I have a Dell E6420 running WIN7 32bit. It is running the Dell broadband utility. I am trying to find a way to keep the users from selecting auto-connect in settings>config. I am looking for a registry key or something that can be done from the admin side to stop this.
View 3 RepliesI have a Dell Latitude E6420. My computer had Windows 7 and I re-imaged it with Windows 7 (because of a procedure for work, something about removing myself from their network.. I was just following the directions I had been given). Since the re-image, I cannot connect to the internet whatsoever. With a cable or wirelessly. My computer recognized the wireless networks I had at my house before the re-image, but there is no longer a wireless adapter even under my "network adapters." Moreover, every single "Other device" has a yellow exclamation point next to it. I cannot connect to any internet at all to remedy the problem and am at a loss for what to do.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an E3000 Dual Band. On my 5Ghz channel, I can select Auto(DFS) or I can manually select a channel.First of all, what does the DFS stand for? My 2.4 GhZ channel only has Auto, not Auto(DFS).
Second, when I select Auto(DFS), my wireless speed defaults to 144Mbps, and is only a single channel (I can see it in the in SSIDer utility). When I manually select a channel, no matter what channel it is, I get 300mbps and I can see that the signal is two channels (for instance, 36+40). Why Auto(DFS) doesn't automatically select the best channel and fastest speed?
I have a Latitude E6420 and I am lead to believe it has bluetooth but I am unsure on how to locate it or connect to anything else.

I have installed it with no problems except for the WiFi: when I install the driver I get this message in the Device Manager Properties window and the WiFi radio does not work (Intel software says no devices exist):

a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)
The device is Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced-N 6205.
Is there an updated driver that I can install to get this to work?
After booting up the laptop, no wireless networks are recognized. i know there at least 1 wireless network available (mine).

View 10 Replies View RelatedI have verified that I am set to auto connect however my wireless does not do so upon start. I have to do so manually each time I use my computer. This is a new problem since installing the newest driver update because I could not connect at all or randomly. The update fixed the connection problem and I no longer have dropped connections and wifi connection back to normal. HOWEVER it has left my auto connect nonfunctional.

I downloaded the tar.gz, extracted it, and double clicked on misc/<some long filename>.deb, which opened up the software center, and I hit install.Installation fails saying the dkms dependency failed, but I have dkms installed.
My Dell Lattitude E6420 WIFI adapter disables anytime I plug my laptop into the adapter and electric wall outlet. It has the Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205 adapter. I've downloaded the latest drivers, updated the power settings on the adapter etc. it's becoming a real problem as I often have to be mobile moving from office to office and up having to stay on battery power until it almost dies to avoid having to go into Device Manager each time I plug back into to re-Enable my adapter.

I can successfully print from both Mac's, however I have to manually disconnect and connect the printer in the vusb client. I can't get the auto-connect and auto-disconnect settings to work by themselves. Any guidance on the proper settings here?Additionally, do I need to configure the printer driver though the vusb client? View 1 Replies View RelatedI've just bought a new Dell laptop (Inspiron N5110) and have Windows 7 installed on it. Things happened when my laptop get viruses and I have to re-install everything all over again. After successfully installing Windows, I installed the drivers for my laptop.
The problem is:
I have an internet connection in my house: wired and wireless.
I can connect the wifi zone from my laptop normally. It's ok. But when i plugged in the DSL Cable, the internet connection is always disconnect and then auto-connect again and again :(

Wireless service on Dell laptop computer had been running fine for 4.5 months until underground Comcast cable failed, presumably due to freezing and thawing in cold New England soil. All Comcast service went out, TV, Internet cable modem, etc. Service was restored with above ground cable, and wireless service returned to other devices in household, but not the Dell laptop. I am wondering if my wireless card itself was damaged in the event, as no software fixes I have tried have worked. However, the device manager says the Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN Mini-card is working properly and the driver software for the service is up to date.

I've gotten a dir-600 and have been trying to configure it so that it won't auto connect to the internet. Some people in my network prefers to manually connect to the internet from their pppoe dial-up on their PC. I've tried changing it to static or dynamic ip in the LAN config, but everyone connected to the router from LAN couldn't dial out as well. changing it to ap allowed everyone (including wireless) solved the problem. but doing so, i am not able to access the router. the default ip's don't work, nor could i find the ip of the router on the network.
so what i want to do is reset it to factory settings and just use it as a hub/switch w/ wireless. don't want to use it to connect to the net automatically.
Trying to select a router that will work well networking a computer with a nettalk duo, on a limited bandwidth connection: .3/3Mbps up/down. From what little I've been able to find on this, QoS bandwidth control seems critical, yet the list of recommended routers from Nettalk seems to favor routers that don't have this feature. On the other hand, the list apparently hasn't been updated in a year and a half.

My laptop is fine but the desktop just keeps restarting itself when its attempting to connect. This didn't happen before I moved. View 2 Replies View RelatedAbout six months ago I replaced my old router (some generic 802.11b/g router I got for free with a rebate years ago and which lasted a few years) with a Dir-601 after the old router started intermittently cutting out. Setup of the Dir-601 was straightforward enough and I have WEP enabled. Both my Macbook and my wife's Macbook can connect fine if we choose the router from the drop-down wireless network list, and the router has been consistently reliable in maintaining a connection as long as the OS is running.
HOWEVER, neither computer will remember the wi-fi network and won't auto-connect when waking up from sleep or after a restart. Our iPhone and Android smartphones remember the network just fine and auto-connect every time, zero issues. I've gone through all the typical Mac troubleshooting steps, deleting saved network connections and re-establishing new ones. Never solves the problem. We always have to go to the wireless network menu and manually select the wifi connection to connect to.
It's not the Macbooks. Firstly, both macbooks have the same issue, and they're each running different MacOS versions, so there's no version-specific issue that can be at play here. Secondly, neither macbook had this issue with any previous wifi router. Thirdly, anywhere else we take our macbooks where we've set up a wifi connection, they remember it and auto-connect without us having to manually select the network. The only network where we have to manually select the network every time is the one set up with the Dir-601. In fact, we're at my inlaws for the holidays and our Macbooks have been auto-connecting to their router each and every time.Is there a setting I'm not seeing on the Dir-601 admin page?
I have problem auto connect Easy VPN client to Easy VPN server using saved X auth username/password. The ez vpn client is a Cisco 2691 using IOS 12.4.15T7. The config is as follows:

the router keeps prompting me to manually enter username/password. connectivity will work be established after i manually enter the username/password. But this is not what i desired. I need it to connect automatically.

They have wireless printers, iMacs, pc laptops and iPhone 4S's, all connecting without any problems. Recently, they got an iPhone5 and it will not connect to their home wireless automatically, they have to re-enter the password each time. They've tested their iPhone 5 on other networks and they do not have to re-enter the password. Apple and ATT are blaming the router. I do not live near them and I'm going to have to facilitate them remotely. At this point, I believe their router is configured with WPA2, but I can't be sure. Which configuration will work with the iPhone 5, as well as their other, older, devices that have worked for 4 years

My ISP has allocated me a /29. The DSL configuration means that the IP address on the PPP session is assigned randomly. I have a mix of internal devices on a private IP range and a few devices with publically accessible addresses. All of the devices on the internal network need to be NATted to a public IP from the range allocated to me.
I can see that I can use the software or hardware DMZ to set up the servers, but I can't see any way to configure the external NAT address.
I have a Dell Inspiron and it had a virus that didnt let me get into anythihng I took care of the virus, but now when I go to internet explorer it says I cant connect (I am connected to the wifi) so it tell tells me something about tools-internet options-connections-LAN settings, but I have no idea how to fix the proxy settings?
