I have consistently had this problem with my laptop and paid almost 400 dollars 3 times to dell technical support. Each time they fix it , it works for sometime and then again it goes off. I think they purposely do it only for a short period of time .This is the worse computer ever . The wireless internet just stops working and I have to manually connect using an Ethernet cable.

This is via a Virgin Media super hub and is only 1 month old.The internet speed on my new Dell is very slow in comparison to my old laptop (an HP) so I tested the connection using Speedtest.net. As you can see the HP is consistent on both the wireless network and hard wired but the performance of the Dell is excellent on a wire but terrible on wireless.Some further info - I bought Norton 360 with the laptop, the above results were achieved with that installed. I have since uninstalled that and there was no difference to the speedtest.net. I then turned off the windows firewall and again it made no difference to the results.
I have a Dell Inspiron 1501.The problem is that i cannot switch on the wifi.I tried Fn+F2 but no use.When i checked the Network controller i could see a yellow ! mark.I can connect to internet by using a cable.Another issue is that when i start my laptop it says 'Battery cannot be dectected' and 'Battery cannot be charged'.But battery is working fine?

I have also been having problems with some computer programs. McAfee and windows threat both decided to shut down along with the firewalls. The security seems to be up and running now but my firewall doesn't seem to want to turn on.
We've had a home wireless router for several years. My wife's one-year old laptop computer (Dell Inspiron 5010) worked fine until this week when it suddenly lost connectivity and I can't get it back on-line. My laptop still works fine. I first ensured that the wireless function is on. I then clicked on the connectivity icon which shows "No connections available". It also won't show me any available wireless conection options. Under the "Open Network and Sharing Center" link, I've tried the "Set up a new connection of network" and "Connect to the internet". Under "How do you want to connect?" it only gives me "Dial-Up" as an option initially and adds "Broadband" when I choose "Show options the computer is not set up to use". When I choose broadband, and enter my user name and password, I get a message that "The wizard cannot create the connection". I also went to Control Panel, Internet Properties, Connections, Set-Up, and it takes me back to the same "Connect to the Internet window mentioned above with the same issues. I also plugged my wife's computer dirrectly into the router and still got no connectivity. How do I get my wife's computer back on-line?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having problems connecting to the internet. I've tried changing my security from WPA to WEP and back again. I've searched these forums for a solution and nothing has worked. I've changed my antenna output to Aux from Auto as one thread suggested, but no luck.
For a time, I could connect to my wireless BT Home Hub 2, but the range was pathetic (about 4 metres). I've tried connecting to my partners home wireless connection, and again, same problem. Now the connection is virtually nothing. If I am lucky enough to get a connection then it will be poor and usually fail within 2 minutes.

I've had the computer for 5 years, and have always connected to the internet using wireless with no problem. Just moved to a new place, don't have a router yet, and now when I try to connect via the ethernet cable my internet is sooo slow, taking about a minute to load a page. My roommate's computer runs great using the ethernet.

I have a Dell Inspiron 11z (1110) with Dell 1397 mini wireless card. The wireless connection lags/drops persisitently at any time of day or night. When I connect the computer to internet via ethernet the connection is stable. When I run a diagnostics on the wireless card all pass, except the internet IP ping. I get the following message:
The wireless router/AP for your network is working, but your computer is not able to use an IP address to connect to the Internet. You will not be able to connect to the Internet, although you might be able to connect to your local network. Contact your network administrator or wireless router/AP installer for assistance.
I have installed latest driver for the 1397 mini wireless card, albeit a couple of years old.
The wireless router I am using is Netgear Rangemax Dual Band DGND3300v2. I can get into the router administration area but am at a loss as to how to reset/re-install it.

I have spent countless hours searching online attempting to fix this problem. I read in numerous posts if I remove the RAM and place it back in after 10 minutes it should solve the issue, but others have said it did not work for them. I recently purchased 4 Inspiron 660 destkop with Windows 7 x64 Pro. When I plug them in to an ethernet connection, they are able to pull an IP address from DHCP but they do not connect to the internet. The network icon in the taskbar has a yellow exclamation point and has the message "No Internet Access" when I mouse-over it. I am trying to connect the computer in an office with a DHCP server. I have not joined the computer to the domain yet. I can plug any of my other computers into the same ethernet port and they will connect to the internet including other computers with the same OS and computers with XP SP3 or Vista. I have also had another tech connect the computer to other ethernet ports that we know work with other computers and the computers still cannot access the internet.
I have already tried the solution here: [URL] which advises you to uninstall the free McAfee software (which was already done or the computer didn't come with it) and uninstall a windows update which we did. The computers still do not connect to the internet. Are there any other possible solutions? These computers are straight out of the box and unaltered other than removing the software and update in the above link.
Could this have anything to do within the Atheros Smart Net software or the Intel Trusted Connect Service Client? I'm not familiar with this software or what it is supposed to do.
My computer is a inspiron 17r and is only a month old. for the last week or 2, it has been disconnecting from the internet while at home. The computer says it has an internet connection and is discoverable on the LAN, but will not connect to the internet for browsing, email or any other internet activity. I can restore the internet by rebooting the computer, or by rebooting the router and modem, or by deleting the network and re-establishing it through the network sharing center. Any of these will work, but somewhere between 1 minute and several hours, I will again lose the internet. I have several other computers and devices and none of them lose the internet so I know the router and the modem are fine. This also ONLY happens at home. I take the computer to work and connect with no problems and stay connected for 9 or 10 hours.
