Dell :: Inspiron 1545 Not Connecting To Internet
Feb 6, 2013On a Dell Inspiron 1545, the internet stopped connecting. I updated all of the networking drivers and that did not work. The 'repair wireless network connection' does not work, it tries to repair it then stops at 'renewing your IP address'. It has nothing to do with the wireless network, because we are at a university and only this computer will not work.

Aug 24, 2012A Dell Inspiron laptop (2011) with Windows 7, will not connect to the internet. Wireless network shows good connectivity and I tried plugging in my ethernet cable between the router and my Dell and it didn't work. My desktop and other devices (Wii, other laptops, itouch) can connect wirelessly without a problem. I have had this laptop for about a year and it has worked perfectly until today. I was using the internet an hour prior to shutting down the system. When I restarted it an hour later the wireless connection was there, but there was an error saying that I could not connect to the internet. I tried restarting the router and the system and nothing worked. Could this be a hardware problem with the network card? I have been using the network card heavily for internet gaming and noticed that the laptop has been getting very hot.

Jan 13, 2011I've been having a few problems keeping my laptop connected to any wireless network I use. It'll connect fine and work for a while and then it'll stop loading or refreshing pages. If I got to network connections and hit 'disable' and then 'enable' it'll connect fine again and run for a little longer but it's really beginning to get frustrating having to do this every 5 minutes.

Apr 23, 2012I have recently purchased a new HUAWEI wireless modem. This lovely little device will connect beautifully to my iPad, to all the Acer computers at work, to my Samsung mobile phone. It will not however successfuly connect wirlessly to my Dell Inspiron N5010.
I plug it in via a USB port and can connect to the internet that way. If I unplug the USB cable the computer says I am connected but when I try to access a webpage the browser says I am not connected. In the bottom right of my screen my computer says I am connected. This is most confusing and frustrating. I took the computer to work and had the IT department look at it but they had no answers for me.this same computer has recently been connecting to a different wireless modem so I am at a loss.
Dell :: New Inspiron 1764 - Low Signal Connecting To Wireless Networks?
Jun 28, 2010I have a brand new Dell Inspiron 1764 laptop that I received on the 25th of June. It is "replacing" a Dell Inspiron 9100 that has gotten to be too slow and bulky for my needs. For support purposes, both laptops are running on Windows 7.Overall, I love my new Inspiron 1764. However, I have noticed seriously degraded connection/signal strength with the wireless card (Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN Mini-card) compared to my Inspiron 9100 (Dell Wireless 1350 WLAN Mini-PCI card).
In areas of my house that my 9100 can get full signal strength (5 bars), my new 1764 is getting 2 or fewer bars. This behavior is also not limited to only my house, as I have tested it at my job and in an area less than 10 feet away from the wireless router, I have "Internet connectivity problems".
I tried twice this morning to speak with Dell support. The first person I spoke at least initiated a DellConnect session with me so that they could check some of my settings and such (however, why they went twice into my sharing settings I could not determine since they have absolutely nothing to do with signal strength.)
Unfortunately, I was disconnected from the session when I went to an area that had less signal than right next to my wireless router.I then got back on chat support with Dell and received another technician to speak with. I explained my problem, told them that I was in a DellConnect session with the other technician, and they looked up my support contract.They then told me that my warranty does not cover software issues and referred me to the software department and told me it would be an extra charge. I told them that I did not believe it to be a software issue in any way, shape, or form. They told me that it must be a setting issue. I have since spent several hours scouring the internet forums on Dell and other websites checking people who have had similar issues. Some of their issues were admittedly from software settings, but I have still yet to find anything that indicates to me that I have an incorrect software setting.
As of this writing, I am standing in my kitchen, typing on my Inspiron 9100 with a full 5 bars, while my Inspiron 1764 sits next to me with a measly 2 bars, and I am literally standing 7 feet above the room that houses my Linksys WRTU54G-TM router.Personally, I suspect a faulty wireless card, but how do I convince Dell to hear my case and replace it rather than trying to bilk me for unneeded software support?

Sep 14, 2012I have a new inspiron 15 laptop and also bought an all in one wireless printer. I have a iinet BOB lite modem. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the wireless printer, modem and laptop to tall to one another. Am I missing something or should it all work? The laptop has internet access. The laptop also shows the printer installed with a big green tick next to it but it says it is offline. At no point has a green light appeared on the printer to indicate any wireless connectivity to the modem.

I have tried the following without any luck, uninstalling & re-installing, powering down cable modem/router, changing security settings on router from 64bit wep to 128 wep & WPA/PSK, dell expert taking control of my laptop & trying to connect (which resulted in Dell sending me a new printer because the expert seemed to think it maybe a faulty wireless card in the printer, this is not the case becuase the same problem occurs with the second printer dell have sent me!). I have downloaded & installed the latest drivers for this printer from the dell website & I've switched off my security (anti virus/firewall) when trying to install.
I am completely stuck as to what to try next, the printer works perfectly fine from the USB cable.

Aug 10, 2011Ive been having problems with the Wireless connection on my laptop for a while now. Basically even though the signal strength is shown as excellent and hovering over the little monitor in notification area shows "Internet access" i cannot connect to the Internet via WiFi. The strange thing is when i connect an Ethernet cable the signal strength on the bottom goes up and i get Internet access but the computer seems to think its got a wireless connection, even though its actually a wired connection. Feb 9, 2013I have not yet confirmed that this is a hardware issue but I'm pretty sure it is. I was suspecting that it was and issue with SP3 or a driver issue however it is doing the same thing always now. It will turn on and detect wireless networks but when I go to connect the connection box simply stays on "waiting for the network" then just stops. No faults or warnings. This happens with any network.
I stopped using the wireless a few months ago when it would randomly disconnect for any network. The thing just would not stay connected. Just used LAN. I have tried several different drivers and even a complete image restore. It really does seem like a hardware issue. Now I can pick up a new card for pretty cheap but I just want to if this is a common problem.

Jul 17, 2011I purchased a Dell Inspiron 15R at the weekend and I am having problems with the wireless internet speed.I have Virgin Media broadband in the UK, my package is 50Mbps. This is via a Virgin Media super hub and is only 1 month old.The internet speed on my new Dell is very slow in comparison to my old laptop (an HP) so I tested the connection using Speedtest.net. As you can see the HP is consistent on both the wireless network and hard wired but the performance of the Dell is excellent on a wire but terrible on wireless.Some further info - I bought Norton 360 with the laptop, the above results were achieved with that installed. I have since uninstalled that and there was no difference to the speedtest.net. I then turned off the windows firewall and again it made no difference to the results.

Each time they fix it , it works for sometime and then again it goes off. I think they purposely do it only for a short period of time .This is the worse computer ever . My wife's one-year old laptop computer (Dell Inspiron 5010) worked fine until this week when it suddenly lost connectivity and I can't get it back on-line. My laptop still works fine. I first ensured that the wireless function is on. I then clicked on the connectivity icon which shows "No connections available". It also won't show me any available wireless conection options. Under the "Open Network and Sharing Center" link, I've tried the "Set up a new connection of network" and "Connect to the internet". Under "How do you want to connect?" it only gives me "Dial-Up" as an option initially and adds "Broadband" when I choose "Show options the computer is not set up to use". When I choose broadband, and enter my user name and password, I get a message that "The wizard cannot create the connection". I also went to Control Panel, Internet Properties, Connections, Set-Up, and it takes me back to the same "Connect to the Internet window mentioned above with the same issues. I also plugged my wife's computer dirrectly into the router and still got no connectivity. How do I get my wife's computer back on-line?
