I am working on a Dell Inspiron 3000 for a friend. It was gifted to him and he had to re-install the OS which is Win XP. I installed all of the drivers Dell had listed that goes with this particular model. It is still not connecting to the Internet wirelessly or via LAN.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1318 Laptop. It uses Vista with Service Pack 2. It does work with the wireless router at my house. It will not connect to the internet at a Bloodbank I visit twice a week. It will connect to their wireless network, and gets a strong signal, but no internet. Other people at this facility seen to have no problem connecting to the internet. I tried downloading updated drivers for my wireless card, but it said I already had the latest drivers. I have turned off my firewall and changed to the lowest security settings. I don't know what to do.

The 'repair wireless network connection' does not work, it tries to repair it then stops at 'renewing your IP address'. It has nothing to do with the wireless network, because we are at a university and only this computer will not work.

I have Inspiron 14R using it for more than 1 year, from yesterday im not getting the internet connection but it detects my Wifi connection.
Wifi router has been resetted and turned off, but it doesnt connect. Wifi is connecting in my mobile but its not connecting to my laptop.
My Dell Inspiron 530S does not recognize any wired internet connection. I have my modem and router set up and working with my PS3 as well as my HP Desktop. But even when I use the same wire that is in the HP, my Dell doesn't pull up any network/internet.

Wireless network shows good connectivity and I tried plugging in my ethernet cable between the router and my Dell and it didn't work. My desktop and other devices (Wii, other laptops, itouch) can connect wirelessly without a problem. I have had this laptop for about a year and it has worked perfectly until today. I was using the internet an hour prior to shutting down the system. When I restarted it an hour later the wireless connection was there, but there was an error saying that I could not connect to the internet. I tried restarting the router and the system and nothing worked. Could this be a hardware problem with the network card? Area networks appeared, tried to connect to my network (entered password, etc.) and would attempt to connect, but could not. Solution - activate McAfee security center.Products - 2 day old Inspiron 14z (windows 7, intel wi-fi) & Netgear n300 (6 months old, connecting 2 yo inspiron 15, sony bluray, kindle fire, hp photosmart 3500 printer with no issues)
I checked router log in information, firmware updates, cable connections - all okay. So I called tech support and the first cutomer care rep adjusted the power saving settings to "Dell" (was turning off wi-fi adapter to save juice), but that didn't solve issue. He told me that it was probably an ISP/router issue. Eventually I spoke to three other reps and 2 supervisors and was consistently told issue was ISP and/or router. Crankily, I told the last customer care rep that if the issue wasn't resolved, I would return laptop, since everything else was working. (Not nice of me, but that's how I felt. I'm not about to spend an extra $100+ on a router when mine is working fine and my ISP service is fine.) So, that rep agreed to connect to both my new laptop and the older inspiron 15 to find any differences in settings. He then found a solution - McAfee security center. I had not activated it, because I prefer another product, and hadn't uninstalled it before calling. The rep activated it and voila, connectivity. Afterwards, I did uninstall mcafee and installed my preferred security product, and still have connectivity.
I use a Dimension 3000 desktop. I cannot dial in to my ISP (Juno). Each time I try, it responds "can't dial in". I checked the connection, that's ok. I checked the phone line and that's ok. A box pops up that says "system service not working go to Help & Support" When I try to go to Help & Support, a box pops up "system service not working".
This all began after I used an AVG PC Tuneup. Since then the bottom line colors changed. For example, where START was green with white letters and the windows colors symbol; it is now WHITE with Black letters only. Where bottom line across was blue, now it too is WHITE.
I can pull up WORD, Games,etc. but am unable to dial in to get to internet.
I have the 2wire Gateway modem to connect to the internet on my HP all-in-one desktop computer, which I bought a little over 3 years ago. Occasionally, the computer will show that the internet is disconnected, however the modem will have all it's lights flashing. After attempting several times to get to connect again, I called the support number, and they told me that I would either have to the ethernet cord hooked to the computer or purchase a network adapter. BUT my computer already had a network adapter installed in it before I even bought it, so I don't feel that I need to purchase one and I was able to get it to connect to the internet wireless by myself after hanging up. My question is how to keep my computer from wanting to disconnect from the wireless internet?

Basically even though the signal strength is shown as excellent and hovering over the little monitor in notification area shows "Internet access" i cannot connect to the Internet via WiFi. The strange thing is when i connect an Ethernet cable the signal strength on the bottom goes up and i get Internet access but the computer seems to think its got a wireless connection, even though its actually a wired connection. I have not yet confirmed that this is a hardware issue but I'm pretty sure it is. I was suspecting that it was and issue with SP3 or a driver issue however it is doing the same thing always now. It will turn on and detect wireless networks but when I go to connect the connection box simply stays on "waiting for the network" then just stops. No faults or warnings. This happens with any network.
I stopped using the wireless a few months ago when it would randomly disconnect for any network. The thing just would not stay connected. Just used LAN. I have tried several different drivers and even a complete image restore. It really does seem like a hardware issue. Now I can pick up a new card for pretty cheap but I just want to if this is a common problem.

I have a network at home that me, my brother, and my parents share. I will be building my own PC and placing it in my room, which is upstairs. However, our router and modem are both downstairs. Now, my questions is, will that be a problem? As in, will my network bandwidth be bad? I really can't reconfigure my network nor can I have my computer downstairs since there is not enough room downstairs to place it. I also have a computer desk in my room from a few years back. The modem we have is 2700HG-B Gateway and the router is a CISCO Linksys one. I just have a miniUSB Wireless N adapter.

It'll connect fine and work for a while and then it'll stop loading or refreshing pages. If I got to network connections and hit 'disable' and then 'enable' it'll connect fine again and run for a little longer but it's really beginning to get frustrating having to do this every 5 minutes.

I have recently purchased a new HUAWEI wireless modem. This lovely little device will connect beautifully to my iPad, to all the Acer computers at work, to my Samsung mobile phone. It will not however successfuly connect wirlessly to my Dell Inspiron N5010.
I plug it in via a USB port and can connect to the internet that way. If I unplug the USB cable the computer says I am connected but when I try to access a webpage the browser says I am not connected. In the bottom right of my screen my computer says I am connected. This is most confusing and frustrating. It is "replacing" a Dell Inspiron 9100 that has gotten to be too slow and bulky for my needs. For support purposes, both laptops are running on Windows 7.Overall, I love my new Inspiron 1764. However, I have noticed seriously degraded connection/signal strength with the wireless card (Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN Mini-card) compared to my Inspiron 9100 (Dell Wireless 1350 WLAN Mini-PCI card).
In areas of my house that my 9100 can get full signal strength (5 bars), my new 1764 is getting 2 or fewer bars. This behavior is also not limited to only my house, as I have tested it at my job and in an area less than 10 feet away from the wireless router, I have "Internet connectivity problems".
I tried twice this morning to speak with Dell support. The first person I spoke at least initiated a DellConnect session with me so that they could check some of my settings and such (however, why they went twice into my sharing settings I could not determine since they have absolutely nothing to do with signal strength.)
Unfortunately, I was disconnected from the session when I went to an area that had less signal than right next to my wireless router.I then got back on chat support with Dell and received another technician to speak with. I explained my problem, told them that I was in a DellConnect session with the other technician, and they looked up my support contract.They then told me that my warranty does not cover software issues and referred me to the software department and told me it would be an extra charge. I told them that I did not believe it to be a software issue in any way, shape, or form. They told me that it must be a setting issue. I have since spent several hours scouring the internet forums on Dell and other websites checking people who have had similar issues. Some of their issues were admittedly from software settings, but I have still yet to find anything that indicates to me that I have an incorrect software setting.
As of this writing, I am standing in my kitchen, typing on my Inspiron 9100 with a full 5 bars, while my Inspiron 1764 sits next to me with a measly 2 bars, and I am literally standing 7 feet above the room that houses my Linksys WRTU54G-TM router.Personally, I suspect a faulty wireless card, but how do I convince Dell to hear my case and replace it rather than trying to bilk me for unneeded software support?

I have a Linksys X5000 hooked up with my home pc. The internet I get is free though the private school's network I work at (across the street) through a LAN. With a bit of wrestling I got my desktop to connect with the internet through the Linksys like an ethernet switch.I can't get my wireless devices to connect with the internet without logging in as a guest, which is annoying to do every time, especially through my iPod. Since this is a school network, my IT guy gave me a static IP address to speed up up/downloads by disabling DHCP. Every time I try to do that I get a message that "the page at 192.168.1.1 says the value can't be equal." OK, so I try to change my router's IP to 192.168.1.2 and...no luck, same message. I love working with hardware, but networking is beyond me. I don't think I can log into the guest screen in my own house any more! I am getting a new tablet in 2 days and this just won't do.

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the wireless printer, modem and laptop to tall to one another. Am I missing something or should it all work? The laptop has internet access. The laptop also shows the printer installed with a big green tick next to it but it says it is offline.
