Dell :: Intel 82567LM Gigabit LAN Card Connecting At 10 Mbps - How To Disable Power Mgt On NIC

May 23, 2010

How do I disable the power management feature that slows my NIC down when I am on battery power?

I have a dell e6500 with a Intel 82567LM Gigabit LAN card that always connects at 10Mbps when I plug in the ethernet cord when I am on battery power, I've tried using different routers (I have two gigabit routers and one 100 mbps router)... it still auto-negotiates at 10 mbps I've tried using different cat6 cables, it still auto-negotiates at 10 mbps.I've checked the drivers, I have 10.0.6.0, which is the latest from the support.dell.com website.

However, the minute I plug in the laptop, the NIC connects at the proper speed.  Essentially, when the laptop is using battery power, the NIC decreases it's speed to 10 mbps.  When I plug the laptop in, the speed jumps up to what it should be (either 100 mpbs or 1 Gbps, depending on which router I'm plugged in to).

So, how do I disable this feature?  I want to connect at the maximum possible speed, regardless if I am plugged in or not.

Intel Gigabit ET Dual Port Card In ASUS P9X79 WS Motherboard?

Nov 4, 2012

reliability of the ET dual port server adapter. I have a Windows Server 2012 hyper-v host thats used to run all of the vm's I use in my house on an ASUS P9X79 WS motherboard. The board comes with 2 Intel gigabit nic's, one of which is an Intel server nic. Ever since installing Server 2012 it only registers one onboard adapter for use and the other isn't. Because of this I am planning on getting a second server grade network adapter for the vm's to use and have the onboard dedicated to management only. The only thing currently holding me back is if the OS will properly detect and run the network card in a non-server motherboard? Any insight as to if it will work on my board or not? Google has only revealed uses on server boards and not workstations.

After searching a lot I found out that the Intel has stopped supporting 5100 for windows 8. Is there any way possible to use the same adapter with compatibility drivers on windows 8?? Dell :: XPS 702X With Intel Centrino Wireless N-1030 Network Card

Oct 15, 2011

The wireless on my laptop keeps dropping out. When I first got it it was fine, but after a while I started experiencing problems on every wireless network I connected to. Most of the time it would connect, but after around 10 minutes or so, the connection would drop out and the wireless card has to be "reset" so I can connect again. Otherwise I have a little yellow triangle over my network signal strength bars. I've updated to the latest drivers (14.2.0.10) but it was no luck.

This happens with every wireless network and I know it's not the network because my old Vostro 1500 is running just dandy on all of them.

Dell :: XPS 13 Ultra Book Alternative To Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6235 Wi-Fi Card?

what other cards are compatible with XPS 13 Ultrabook? Like so many people, I have been having a problem with my wifi when the computer is used a little far from the router, and thinking about buying a new wifi card for a replacement (which is silly, and I shouldn't have to do, given my computer is brand-new and cost more than £1000, I know... but I don't seem to have much choice). I've tried everything that has been suggested in the Dell forums, and elsewhere, including those on the Intel site. But nothing has improved my connection even a bit.I have Windows 8 (64-bit). And it currently has an 'Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6235' wifi card that came with it.

Dell :: Latitude E6400 With 82567LM - Ethernet Will Not Reconnect

Sep 27, 2012

With a clean install of Windows 8 64-bit...If I boot the laptop with the Ethernet cable disconnected, I will still get "media disconnected" from ipconfig if I then connect the Ethernet cable after login. The Ethernet connection comes back to life if I put the laptop to sleep and then wake it up, but it will go back to "media disconnected" state again if I unplug and replug the network cable. The laptop has the latest BIOS from Dell from this model (A32 -- and has been reset to the factory settings), but I'm wondering if any of the 21 (!) Advanced driver properties need to be toggled to something else for this particular model of Ethernet card to function.  The driver version is 10.1.10.1 (dated 6/25/2012) as installed by Windows 8 64-bit.(I tried "updating" to the 10.1.12.1 driver from Dell's site -- for Windows 7 -- but that one is dated 3/23/2011, oddly enough, and cut down the number of Advance options to 6… -- and it still has the same problem -- Ethernet does not automatically reconnect if I unplug and replug the cable…)Might this be something I need to flip in the BIOS for this model?

I have a Latitude D630 -- running the same build of Windows 8 32-bit (but a different Ethernet adaptor, obviously) -- that does not have this problem.  So it's not specifically a Windows 8 issue -- but an issue with the specific Ethernet card.

My old gigabit NIC on my old computer shows all, 10s, 100s, and 1000s and the auto. They tried to fix it and even changed the driver but it still is not showing the 1000s. Their option was to change the motherboard with a refurbished one and my computer was just bought just 2 months ago. The original computer had 12GB memory, I7, AMD graphics card, 460 PSU. no blue-ray, no usb 3. The new setup is 16GB memory, I7, Nvidia GeForce GT 550 Ti, Usb 3, Blue-ray, I think 800 PSU.I am running Win 7 Home Premium 64. I have a Gigabit connection from my internet service so I wanted the NIC to go that fast too. The specs shows the computer to have a Gigabit NIC but the properties is not showing the 1000s.

Dell :: Not Connecting To Buffalo WHR G-125 With Latitude E5420 / Intel Centrino Advanced N 6205

Mar 30, 2013

I just purchased a used Latitude E5420. It looked like the seller did a fresh reinstall of Windows just before selling it to me. The non-internet applications are working fine, but it's not connecting to my home wireless router. I have a  Buffalo WHR G-125. I tried pretty much every type of security type, but nothing worked, so I eventually disabled security and set up MAC filtering, after which I put in the MAC address for the laptop. That still didn't solve the problem.

It does connect to my neighbor's unsecured linksys network. Both the neighbor's network and mine are 802.11g

I went to Intel's website and installed the latest drivers for the network card, but that didn't work. I'm using the latest firmware on the router already.

Here are the specs for the laptop

Win 7 Professional 64-bit
Intel Core i5 2520M @ 2.50 Ghz
16 GB RAM

Gigabit NIC Slow Upload On 1.0Gbps But Ok On 100 Mbps?

Mar 28, 2011

I have a PC with an onboard Realtek 8168 PCIe Gigabit connected to a D-Link 655 Gigabit router. Here's the odd situation: when speed/duplex is set to 100Mbps, my upload speed using www.Speedtest.net is fine (~3.0 Mbps). However, when I switched it over to 1.0Gbps, it goes down all the way to 0.06 Mbps. Download speed is generally unaffected. can't tell which is the likely culprit!

Onboard NIC faulty/underpowered?

Faulty cable (highly doubt, I've tried 5+)?

Or is it a matter of settings? I turned off QoS and WISH on the router, but it didn't do much.

Dell :: Wireless 1397 WLAN Mini-Card / Connecting To WPA-PSK Protected Network

Feb 27, 2009

I got a Studio 1535 Laptop which comes with a Broadcom WiFi card that is named "Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN Mini-Card" in the Hardware Manager.

I tried to connect to my ZyXel WiFi router but though i had it all configured right, Windows would always come up with "you entered the wrong key". After playin around for some time i figured out that everything just works fine when i switched my router from WPA-PSK to WPA2-PSK. My router features both WPA-PSK and WPA2-PSK but since my other PC does only support WPA-PSK the router is set to that and i want it to stay that way. I just don't want to buy new hardware for all my other computers.

So is this WiFi card strictly incompatible with WPA-PSK? Does'nt make any sense to me because WPA2 works just fine! Normally they are downwards compatible aren't they? (Moreover, when setting up a connection i can choose WPA-PSK from the dropdown menu.

Intel Wireless Card Keeps Losing The Connection?

Jun 13, 2011

my Intel wireless card keeps losing the connection. Until a couple of weeks ago it would be fine for roughly the first 20 minutes then the connection would just completely drop out and the only way to get it back again is to go into the network and sharing centre, disable the network card and then reenable it. Most of the time this works, but again for only the first 20-30 minutes, then I have to do it again. Occasionally it works for for longer but that's a rare occasion. Now not only does it do this, but also, if I put my laptop into sleep, sometimes when I turn it back on again the card will not connect to the network and I have to do the same disable and enable process.[ODE]
