Dell :: Is There A Checklist For Wi-Fi XPS 14z
Apr 20, 2013
Current problem with Dell XPS 14z wireless connectivity, i have the laptop since January 2012 and all was well until January 2013. Problems started acting after christmas and now I regularly get dropped from the network. And now, my 8Meg broadband service often only gives me 0.1 downloads. I suspect, because some new router/AP device in the area is interfering with mine (which is a zyxel modem, supplied by Irish national telecoms provider, Eircom.)i have done speedtest around the house and when it fails in the sitting room (less than 20 feet from modem), I tend to get better results in the hall (10 incehs from modem). When I view available devices, one or two others get consistently better strength than mine -- not sure if this is the brand of mod

I am not getting anywhere near the same download speeds to my wireless laptop as my wired desktop? When I run the Xfinity speed test on my wired desktop I get anywhere from 18MB to 40MB downloads. But the same Xfinity speed test to my Wireless connection to my Dell laptop [G adapter] never gets above 15MB.Is there a checklist anywhere I can use to maximize my wireless speed to a [G adapter] wireless device?

I have recently bought a brand new Dell XPS One 2710 with windows 7.Really annoyingly, the WIFI connection is very slow, and disconnects every 10-20 minutes (sometimes reconnects again a few minute later, sometime not until the computer is restarted).I have no such problems when connecting with my Lenovo laptop to the same network. The wireless card installed is: Dell Wireless 1703 802.11 b/g/n (2.4 GHz).As far as I can tell the driver is up to date.

I have a Dell XPS 17 and I am having trouble with the wi-fi. It always connects and works, but is very inconsistent. It will speed up and slow down for no apparent reason. I ran a speed test and it will go from 40mbps to 2mbps. This does not happen on any other device connected to the wireless in the house. It does not happen when the laptop is connected directly. I also purchased a USB wireless adapter and do not have any problems when connecting wirelessly that way.A new modem and router have not changed the problem.I am 100% sure it is the wireless receiver in the laptop itself.

My specific Dell is the XPS 17 with the 3D screen (Model: XPS L702X). I checked product support and on this laptop it states a 3G card is not available on the 3D panel. I'm wondering why did they exclude the 3G card from this laptop. As far as I know, a 3D panel will have no effect on a 3G card (when Installed). Or is it they used the port for the 3G card for the 3D panel which I find highly unlikely.
I have contacted customer support but the people are not very informative. How to make this 3G card work in this laptop or how to get one in and make it work?

My wi-fi has always been a little spotty, but today it finally just completely stopped working.
I have an XPS L502x running Windows 7 and a Verizon FiOS connection (Actiontec modem/router). My work laptop (running XP), phone (Android), desktop (Win 8), and my girlfriend's Mac connect to this network fine. But the Dell has consistently had trouble over the year that I've owned it. In the past, I've been able to force it to connect by manually resetting the wi fi, but that didn't work today.
The wi fi will intermittently find the network, fail to connect to the internet, then lose connectivity to the network itself. Windows troubleshooting says I should reset the router (despite all of the other successful connections). This works for a second, but the Dell loses connectivity again (note: I''ve seen that this is associated with McAffee in other questions, but I'm not running McAffee). When I tried running the Intel troubleshooter, it passed all tests but the last one, saying it "Failed to Ping".
Another weird thing (not sure if it's related) is that my computer displays four different Network Adapters in Device Manager. One is the Intel Wireless-N 1000, but there are also two Windows adapters and what looks like a generic PCI driver. If you disable any one of them, you get the Intel "wireless adapter disabled" message. If you uninstall the Windows adapters, both reinstall when you try to connect to the network.

I have dell inspiron n4110, my warranty got expired recently. Suddenly I am getting blue screen and automatically re install again and windows is not coming up again, I tried all the options like restore etc. but finally I have seen a post in this forum and filled up the form to get Reinstallation CDs from Dell. I did the re install from dell supplied CDs its windows 7 even my earlier os also the same. After reinstall my wifi is not working and I tried to connect the Internet with a LAN cable and down load the required drivers for wifi, surprisingly even it's not recognizing and not connecting to Internet, I tried with my friend laptop with the LAN cable, his laptop is detecting LAN and working fine. what needs to be done to get it connected to Internet from LAN or wifi.

I got a (one year old) Dell Inspiron 1545 and I'm using it always with wifi on to get connected to the net.Since a couple of days this Wifi connection often goes off and on (by itself) and I got no clue what it source of this problem is.My Eventlog says that it switches off very irregulary (between 3 and 10 minutes). I've installed the newest drivers and got the latest updates for the Wifi card and on my Windows Vista.

I am moving house and the my main computer is going to be in a different room to my wireless router. I had presumed that I could just get a usb dongle from the manufacturer of the router and take it from there.Only problem is that the dongle won't fit into the front port of my inpiron 588. It will fit in halfway but then the casing of the dongle hits the bottom of the CD drive.

I bought this computer thinking it was wireless. It says it has Wireless-N capability. I can find no wireless in my network connections. I have a Netgear router and all my laptop, NOOK and cell phone have no problem connecting to this router. When I search in connections the only thing I see is a broadband connector, no "wired" showing in network. How do I fix this so I can use my desktop as wireless?

My wireless adapter that came inside the computer can connect to a network, but i do not have internet access. i had to go out and buy a external wireless adapter.
The external adapter was working fine for about three weeks, until i logged in one day and it said the same thing as internal adapter. "connected to the internet. no internet access"
Ive did research and tried some of the fixes on the web. But nothing worked. So i finally tried a system restore and it worked.
The next day when i logged on, i had the same problem again and the only thing that fixed it was another system restore. i didnt download or make any changes in between the two system restores.
my external adapter problem, and my internal adapter to work incase my external malfunctions again.

I have just bought my xps 12 in the last week. I was able to connect to the internet and hold a connection.
Then I came home to my apartment which provides wifi free to the building and i cannot stay connected and sometimes cannot even connect. I do not have access to the router but other devices using the wifi here are able to hold a connection. The network is a public one btw (don't know if it matters)
I have my power set to max performance for network connectivity and like i said this computer is less than a week old.

After starting WIN7 on my DELL Studio XPS8100, no connection to LAN is to be seen ( network symbol shows "!" ).The system shows this behavior in nearly 80% of starting attempts.
Click on network-symbol the network installation center shows :
computer (STUDIO ) ----------------some networks -------------X--------- internet
after "DEACTIVATION" of this public network and clicking on solving Problems / network diagnostics the result line shows : "LAN connection" is not active. After click on "Repair", the process leads to a fully functioning LAN - Process.
The Home-network is running ( not the public network, I don't need ). This is correct ! Next time , when I start the computer, the same procedure is necessary.

Im using a Linksys router, when I connect my Dell XPS 14z to the router wirelessly the connection drops out, the DSL and Internet lights go off and re-connect 5 minutes later creating an endless cycle. I'm not sure if it's the laptop settings or the router settings.
Using my mobile phones/xbox360/Alienware m11x the connection is stable and it doesnt drop out, using the XPS 14z makes it go off.
I've updated my network card drivers for the XPS 14z; i've kept playing around with settings on both the laptop and the router but no success?
