After a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate (service pack 1) I've visited the Dell Product Support section, entered in my service tag and downloaded all the recommended drivers & applications. Everything works fine on the laptop right now except for one major issue: I can't connect to the internet.The wireless switch is ON, but there's no sign of any wireless networks in the Network and Sharing center or in the system tray icon next to the clock.This is what I see in the device manager:When I double click the Network controller the device status reads:The drivers for this device are not installed. (code 28),I checked this thread which seemed to have a very similar problem to mine, and I updated the bios to Inspiron_7520_A07_BIOS.Next I installed this driver [URL]. Aug 29, 2003I am having a problem with my network controller after upgrading to XP Professional. The Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller driver (I've tried both the download and CD) works fine for the Card itself, but it doesn't work for the Network Controller. When I first restart after running the installation program included with the driver, XP tells me that a new Network Controller device has been found. As I go through the driver installation for that device it fails, and I receive a message telling me that the Hardware Update Wizard "Cannot Install this Hardware...The hardware was not installed because the wizard cannot find the necessary software." The device then appears in the Device Manager under the Other Devices section with a yellow question mark and exclamation point indicating trouble.

Jan 5, 2011I was given a dell latitude cpx laptop running windows xp recently with wireless b network adapter. My modem/router is a 2wire gateway DSL . When I brought the laptop home, it did not connect to my wireless network. It was able to find my ssid though, and the signal was weak even if I was close to the modem/router. Anway, someone suggested I switch from WPA to WEP encryption because old network adapters can only detect wep encryption ( or something like that) . So I did, and still no internet connection. i tried to ping yahoo.com and still not working. My DNS and Ip adress are set to automatic and still no internet. This laptop doesn't have an LAN port, so i guess it connects through internet wirelessly only. Someone also suggested i update my drivers for wireless adapter but i don't have the original disc that came along with it. This laptop was able to connect without problem before from a different network but not mine like a week ago.. I also have2 other laptops within this network and I never had a problem with it connecting wirelessly.

May 30, 2013I have a Dell Inspiron N5030 laptop that I just installed a new hard drive in. Prior to the new install had no issues with wireless connectivity, now I have none. I have researched this issue for the past three days without success.
I also installed a new wireless card which still did not solve my problem. As I said, this is a Dell Inspiron N5030. Operating system is Windows 7 32-bit The network adapter is an Atheros AR8152 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller.In the Device Manager the Network Controller is listed under "Other Devices" The new wireless card installed is listed as a DNXA-95-D1. That is really the only information I can give you about this card.
Side note: I can get on the internet if I hard wire in, just can't access internet wirelessly.

Apr 21, 2012I recently reinstalled windows 7 on my dad laptop after he <ADMIN NOTE: Profanity removed as per TOU> it up beyond repair. After installing the appropriate drivers I still had no detection on my w lan adapter so I checked out the device list, and it says I'm missing drivers for two things: one is the network controller, the other is just listed as an unknown device.
I already installed every driver for the appropriate devices on the laptop, in the correct order, or as i could best manage it, but still no dice. The only network driver on the disk for my inspiron is one for an Ethernet controller.
