i have a Dell Latitude E6400. Just reinstalled Vista Ultimate. But it say, "Update Driver Software-Ethernet Controller and Update Driver Software-Network Controller. What I need to install from Dell website?
View 1 RepliesWith a clean install of Windows 8 64-bit...If I boot the laptop with the Ethernet cable disconnected, I will still get "media disconnected" from ipconfig if I then connect the Ethernet cable after login. The Ethernet connection comes back to life if I put the laptop to sleep and then wake it up, but it will go back to "media disconnected" state again if I unplug and replug the network cable.The laptop has the latest BIOS from Dell from this model (A32 -- and has been reset to the factory settings), but I'm wondering if any of the 21 (!) Advanced driver properties need to be toggled to something else for this particular model of Ethernet card to function. The driver version is 10.1.10.1 (dated 6/25/2012) as installed by Windows 8 64-bit.(I tried "updating" to the 10.1.12.1 driver from Dell's site -- for Windows 7 -- but that one is dated 3/23/2011, oddly enough, and cut down the number of Advance options to 6… -- and it still has the same problem -- Ethernet does not automatically reconnect if I unplug and replug the cable…)Might this be something I need to flip in the BIOS for this model?
I have a Latitude D630 -- running the same build of Windows 8 32-bit (but a different Ethernet adaptor, obviously) -- that does not have this problem. So it's not specifically a Windows 8 issue -- but an issue with the specific Ethernet card.
So i have a dell latitude e6400 laptop running windows XP. Now whenever I connect to my home wireless network, it will connect fine but randomly it will stop sending or receiving data. Therefore i cannot connect to any websites and i get a connection error. I check my connection though and it is running through an excellent connection.

I have a Latitude E6400 running Windows 7. Yesterday I was able to access the Internet with no problem. Today, I show that I have established a network connection with my Netgear router but I have no Internet connection. My wife has a Toshiba laptop and she has an Internet connection over the same network so the issue must be with my machine.

When the users travel between locations, they sometimes find when they turn the laptops back on that the ethernet connection is disabled. Its not the wi fi switched off, but the actual ethernet connection in control panel is disabled.
I recently got a Dell Latitude D600. I know, it's outdated. I'm running Windows XP SP3.
My problem is that after installing all of the drivers for the Broadcom 570x Gigabit Intergrated Controller, I can't get the wireless to pop up in the bottom right hand corner. I can only connect with an Ethernet cable directly from my router. I have tried many things, even support packages, but I can't seem to get it to work. I've also tried Fn+F2. Also, in the Device Manager I see a "Network Controller" but it has a question mark that is yellow beside it, and I can't seem to install it.

In the Device manager it has the '?' next to Ethernet Controller. The order for drivers installation says to install the DSS utility first, but I can't seem to find it in the Drivers & Downloads section for my Dimension 4550.
we just reinstall window xp because of some viruses. now that we put in our wireless notebook card window xp say ' Found New Hardware'
and under Hardware, Device manager, it pop up a yellow question mark and it say ' Ethernet Controller'. we already install the chipset driver and the 3com in the dell download pages for the 8200. i read some where that the 8200 come with the broadcom bcm5701 ethernet controller but im not sure.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI installed a fresh Windows XP Pro on my Optiplex gx270 last week. Everything was fine but now I cannot get an internet connection. I followed all the steps on the dell support web site for the windows reinstall, putting all the drivers on in the correct order, all from my original resource CD. Then downloaded the new recommended driver for my service tag from the dell site, and still no ethernet controller driver is found (a yellow question mark with an exclamation mark on top in windows device manager). Tried a couple of times with the dell online chat, but was disconnected right away. Then spent another 1+ hour on the phone with dell tech support this morning. After uninstalling and reinstalling the same drivers I had previously installed, they apparently had no other suggestions and disconnected me. So I'm left with what was a pretty decent machine that is incapable of connecting to the internet.

There doesn't seem to be a driver on the PC for it, although this may be dowon to the PC having a slight "accident" a few months ago which meant we had to reinstall XP. I don't have the utiliites disc, this wasn't a problem previously as we were able to connect our PC up via USB to the modem.
I have an old PC currently connected to the Internet trying to download the drivers from Dell's support section & tranferring these but this isn't working either.

I have downloaded what I think are the approprite files but get the message that the unzipped file is part of a series of disks and I need to insert the last of this series of disks.
