Purchased 6 new e6510 latitudes and were running into a fluke on a few of them.
When the users travel between locations, they sometimes find when they turn the laptops back on that the ethernet connection is disabled. Its not the wi fi switched off, but the actual ethernet connection in control panel is disabled.
I am using a wireless connection via router to access internet at home. When my Dell Latitude E6510 Laptop is not on the Dell Docking Station and I'm using as just standalone I can access my wireless connection easily, no problem at all.However, when I attached my laptop to my Dell Docking Station, I can not access my wireless connection. The wireless connection is found, but when I click connect to network, I get "Windows cannot found network". When I remove the laptop from the docking station, I find the wireless connection and connect perfectly and it works normal.I am using Windows 7. I can connect to internet with straight wire going to docking station easily, but no wireless connection found when laptop is on the docking station. I work from home and use the docking station for two monitors for doing my job. I have struggle with this problem for two weeks now. I don't see anything on the docking station that's preventing me from access my wireless connection.

I used to have a D-Link router which broke down so I purchased a new router which is a Linksys E2500. I changed the configuration on my laptop to use WPA instead of WEP. My router is configured with fixed channels (not auto). My internet connection is continuously being dropped and I have to re-logon to everything (very annoying with vpn tunnels). All my other desktops/laptops in the house work without problems.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWith a clean install of Windows 8 64-bit...If I boot the laptop with the Ethernet cable disconnected, I will still get "media disconnected" from ipconfig if I then connect the Ethernet cable after login. The Ethernet connection comes back to life if I put the laptop to sleep and then wake it up, but it will go back to "media disconnected" state again if I unplug and replug the network cable.The laptop has the latest BIOS from Dell from this model (A32 -- and has been reset to the factory settings), but I'm wondering if any of the 21 (!) Advanced driver properties need to be toggled to something else for this particular model of Ethernet card to function. The driver version is 10.1.10.1 (dated 6/25/2012) as installed by Windows 8 64-bit.(I tried "updating" to the 10.1.12.1 driver from Dell's site -- for Windows 7 -- but that one is dated 3/23/2011, oddly enough, and cut down the number of Advance options to 6… -- and it still has the same problem -- Ethernet does not automatically reconnect if I unplug and replug the cable…)Might this be something I need to flip in the BIOS for this model?
I have a Latitude D630 -- running the same build of Windows 8 32-bit (but a different Ethernet adaptor, obviously) -- that does not have this problem. So it's not specifically a Windows 8 issue -- but an issue with the specific Ethernet card.

My ethernet connection device does not seem to be working. I already tried to trouble shoot it, but nothing worked. First, I have checked that the ethernet cable, and internet port are working properly. Then, i have looked in the device manager, and it indicates that my wired connection device are detected and enabled. However, when I connect a network cable to the ethernet jack on my laptop, there is no network light showing up. I have also updated the BIOS and wired network driver.
View 1 Replies View Relatedproblem with my Dell Latitude D600 Laptop,I tried re-installing my OS, so now with a fresh new OS the wireless capabilities worked fine, but only for the first day, then the next morning the whole problem began again. Now it would say " No supported wireless adapters found" and when i would open the device manager some devices would have the yellow exclamation point, some of the devices would say "Intel PCIC compatible PCMICA controller" and " PCMICA MTD-0002" or just "card bus controller" and many other ones that would alternate when they appear. And also sometimes my network adapters would completely disappear from the list. I also tried scanning my whole drive for viruses and nothing was found.
Then i found that if you disconnect the wireless adapter physically and re connect it, it might work, but it didn't. I should also add that before this problem for some time i had another problem with the same laptop that had to do with the battery malfunctioning, and it displays a 4 orange , 1 green pattern sequence on the LED charge display. But it had never affected any of the laptops hardware or software before, so I don't know if that might have anything to do with it.

When I start my laptop, it acquires the internet connection fine, whether wireless or the wired connection.However on the wired connection, if I unplug the cable and replug it, it does not get the connection. It shows Limited connectivity or no connection. If I try to repair, it says , the IP address could not be renewed. Nothing works but restarting the laptop.Same is the case with wireless connection at home. The first time it catches the wireless fine. However if the system gets locked because of inactivity, and I unlock it, I am left with LIMITED CONNECTIVITY or NO CONNECTION message on the Wireless. My Latitude D630 has been dropping internet connection all the time for the past three days. I looked up similar problems on this blog: a) cleared the DNS cache, b) downloaded windows XP- service pack 3, & 3 network software recommended for my laptop by Dell from the website and updated to the Intel PROSET/Wireless WIFI connection utility, d) ran ipconfig/all from C prompt and know the ethernet connections are disabled, e) called and checked with our local ISP and cleared the connection from their end. To sum it, I have tried everything I know and am still not able to maintain a steady connection to the net using WIFI. However I am able to connect using the cable to the router, so my net provider said the problem is with the wireless connection on the laptop. I didnt have this problem before.

It seems the problem is in the certificate, but I verified and Cisco client says it's ok. It's also the only valid certificate in MMC->Certificates->Personal.Furthermore, also using other smartcard (etokens) of other users it doesn't work.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have recently purchased a new Dell XPS 8500 desktop computer (running Windows 7) to replace my old Dell XPS 420 that died.
I have set up the internet connection on the new computer, however the Ethernet connection is painfully slow. Most webpages take forever to load, that is if they load at all. However, when I use my laptop on wireless, the speed is fine so there is no problem with the network - it must be an issue with the computer.
The laptop also works fine when connected via Ethernet.
Is there something hidden away in Internet settings that could be the cause of the slow speed, or could I just have a dodgy network card? I could easily buy a network card as there are empty slots to install. The computer will be under warranty, but would probably be easier to buy a network card for a few dollars and install myself rather than have someone come out.
I ran the Bigpond ADSL installation disk to install the relevant drivers and configure the settings automatically. I use a T-Gateway TG797n v3.

Whilst internet connection has since been restored I've noticed that there are now orange lights above the port where the ethernet cable connected to on our notebook. I also cannot get internet connection using the ethernet cable. Does this mean my internal modem has blown? I can use the wireless modem with no problems.
If the modem has blown, how much are they usually to replace and is it relatively easy? I have a Inspiron 1525 Notebook.
I got a Latitude E4310 recently, which had a dead HDD. I had to put my own drive into it and load my own copy of Windows 7 Pro onto it. Everything works, except wifi. I have tried every driver available for this model, but they just say something along the lines of the laptop not having compatible hardware. And yes, the switch on the side is on, and I have tried it in either position. In device manager, I see nothing along the lines of 'wireless card'.I even tried putting in my own mini-pci-e wifi card, an intel wifi link 5100, fully installing all drivers and software. That didn't work either - it picked it up and all the intel drivers installed but in device manager it said it 'couldn't start'.Does this model come standard with wifi?
