Sep 27, 2012With a clean install of Windows 8 64-bit...If I boot the laptop with the Ethernet cable disconnected, I will still get "media disconnected" from ipconfig if I then connect the Ethernet cable after login. The Ethernet connection comes back to life if I put the laptop to sleep and then wake it up, but it will go back to "media disconnected" state again if I unplug and replug the network cable.The laptop has the latest BIOS from Dell from this model (A32 -- and has been reset to the factory settings), but I'm wondering if any of the 21 (!) Advanced driver properties need to be toggled to something else for this particular model of Ethernet card to function. The driver version is 10.1.10.1 (dated 6/25/2012) as installed by Windows 8 64-bit.(I tried "updating" to the 10.1.12.1 driver from Dell's site -- for Windows 7 -- but that one is dated 3/23/2011, oddly enough, and cut down the number of Advance options to 6… -- and it still has the same problem -- Ethernet does not automatically reconnect if I unplug and replug the cable…)Might this be something I need to flip in the BIOS for this model?
I have a Latitude D630 -- running the same build of Windows 8 32-bit (but a different Ethernet adaptor, obviously) -- that does not have this problem. So it's not specifically a Windows 8 issue -- but an issue with the specific Ethernet card.

So I entered the express service tag and found a recent driver which says it supports WPA. I downloaded it, installed it, and it does allow me to enter WPA-PSK mode and allows me to input the key but it will not connect. I spend almost two hours on the phone with a Dell Wireless Support Agent, who finally tried to convince me that 802.11b does not support WPA. (ACK---_) When I asked why my service tag, input on the support page, takes me to a network driver for the TM 1150, which states the reason for the driver update is (Support of WPA in Windows XP), she placed me on silent hold, then elevated volume music hold, then transferred me to General Hardware support.... How to be successful in utilizing the True Mobile 1150 (aka Orinoco) and WPA.

First, I have checked that the ethernet cable, and internet port are working properly. Then, i have looked in the device manager, and it indicates that my wired connection device are detected and enabled. Feb 6, 2011problem with my Dell Latitude D600 Laptop,I tried re-installing my OS, so now with a fresh new OS the wireless capabilities worked fine, but only for the first day, then the next morning the whole problem began again. Now it would say " No supported wireless adapters found" and when i would open the device manager some devices would have the yellow exclamation point, some of the devices would say "Intel PCIC compatible PCMICA controller" and " PCMICA MTD-0002" or just "card bus controller" and many other ones that would alternate when they appear. And also sometimes my network adapters would completely disappear from the list. I also tried scanning my whole drive for viruses and nothing was found.
Then i found that if you disconnect the wireless adapter physically and re connect it, it might work, but it didn't. I should also add that before this problem for some time i had another problem with the same laptop that had to do with the battery malfunctioning, and it displays a 4 orange , 1 green pattern sequence on the LED charge display. But it had never affected any of the laptops hardware or software before, so I don't know if that might have anything to do with it.

May 19, 2012My Latitude D630 has been dropping internet connection all the time for the past three days. I looked up similar problems on this blog: a) cleared the DNS cache, b) downloaded windows XP- service pack 3, & 3 network software recommended for my laptop by Dell from the website and updated to the Intel PROSET/Wireless WIFI connection utility, d) ran ipconfig/all from C prompt and know the ethernet connections are disabled, e) called and checked with our local ISP and cleared the connection from their end. To sum it, I have tried everything I know and am still not able to maintain a steady connection to the net using WIFI. However I am able to connect using the cable to the router, so my net provider said the problem is with the wireless connection on the laptop. I didnt have this problem before.

It seems the problem is in the certificate, but I verified and Cisco client says it's ok. It's also the only valid certificate in MMC->Certificates->Personal.Furthermore, also using other smartcard (etokens) of other users it doesn't work.

Aug 16, 2009I have a Latitude E6400 that I had to rebuild due to a hard drive failure, with a Dell 1510 WLAN card installed. Upon reinstalling the Dell WLAN Card Utility however, I now receive the following prompt every time I log into my machine:“Reminder: The Dell Wireless WLAN Card is still disabled. Slide the Wireless ON/OFF switch to enable it.”
I am able to connect to wireless networks without any issues, and when enabled it works great. I do however like to keep my wireless radio off when I am not using it. I certainly don’t need the software to tell me that my WLAN card is disabled when I already know that it is. How do I disable this message from coming up each time I log in? I don’t see any options in the software to simply disable reminders, however I don’t want to disable the software from loading altogether.

Jan 25, 2012I just recently purchased a dell latitude E6400 laptop and I did a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit on it, not an upgrade. I also installed service pack 1 right after the OS install. My problem is I cannot find a single driver that allows my WiFi card/connection to show up in Windows. I have been browsing the internet like a fiend and cannot find a single driver or solution anywhere for this. Every install or driver I try either shows an error saying "incompatable" or just does not fix the issue. All I want is my WiFi card to work, and dell did not have any drivers that worked off of its support site even when I put in my service tag number. compatable driver for the WiFi card for windows 7 64bit? May 24, 2013I got a Latitude E4310 recently, which had a dead HDD. I had to put my own drive into it and load my own copy of Windows 7 Pro onto it. Everything works, except wifi. I have tried every driver available for this model, but they just say something along the lines of the laptop not having compatible hardware. And yes, the switch on the side is on, and I have tried it in either position. In device manager, I see nothing along the lines of 'wireless card'.I even tried putting in my own mini-pci-e wifi card, an intel wifi link 5100, fully installing all drivers and software. That didn't work either - it picked it up and all the intel drivers installed but in device manager it said it 'couldn't start'.Does this model come standard with wifi? Do I have to go and buy a special dell wifi card and install that?I also have 2 Latitude E4300 laptops which I am about to put new HDDs into and set up, which I believe will have the same issue.

Dell Latitude D610 Wifi Won't Work?
Dec 6, 2012I have a Dell Latitude D610 and my problem is that the wifi light won't come on. I've done the Fn+F2 thing and all that is enabled is bluetooth. I've gone to dell's site and updated drivers and done basically everything I've seen others do on forums. What's interesting is that once in awhile, my wifi light comes on and my wifi will work for maybe 30 seconds and then it disappears. When i go to device manager, my broadcom 802.11g adapter sometimes shows up but usually it isn't there. So it's not there with a yellow exclamation mark over it; when it is on there it's fine but it's hardly there ever. I've even removed the wireless card and reconnected it to see if it'd work but no luck.

Jul 1, 2011I'm having a problem using this Dell Latitude. It's always having these connection fits where it randomly disconnects & then reconnects to our wireless internet. I'm always seeing the internet icon in the toolbar either on "Acquiring network address" or "Not connected", and when the internet is working, the icon doesn't even show up in the toolbar. This keeps on stopping me from doing stuff like posting in forums (I was lucky to be able to post this :P), logging into my email, etc. This problem, however, never existed on the Compaq, so I know it's not the signal. Is there any way to keep it from disconnecting constantly?
