Dell :: Latitude D630 Wired Connection?
Apr 15, 2012My ethernet connection device does not seem to be working. I already tried to trouble shoot it, but nothing worked. First, I have checked that the ethernet cable, and internet port are working properly. Then, i have looked in the device manager, and it indicates that my wired connection device are detected and enabled. However, when I connect a network cable to the ethernet jack on my laptop, there is no network light showing up. I have also updated the BIOS and wired network driver.

Feb 25, 2011I switched my Dell Latitude D630 on yesterday morning and the WiFi light wasn't lit, and I am unable to connect to any network. I'm completely baffled why this has happened. I was using it the previous night, streaming some music on Spotify, then I turned it off as normal, and when I tried using the internet the next day...nothing. The bluetooth light is lit as normal but the WiFi light stays off, and I've tried turning the external switch on/off to no avail.

When my Dell Latitude E6510 Laptop is not on the Dell Docking Station and I'm using as just standalone I can access my wireless connection easily, no problem at all.However, when I attached my laptop to my Dell Docking Station, I can not access my wireless connection. The wireless connection is found, but when I click connect to network, I get "Windows cannot found network". When I remove the laptop from the docking station, I find the wireless connection and connect perfectly and it works normal.I am using Windows 7. I can connect to internet with straight wire going to docking station easily, but no wireless connection found when laptop is on the docking station. I work from home and use the docking station for two monitors for doing my job. I have struggle with this problem for two weeks now. I looked up similar problems on this blog: a) cleared the DNS cache, b) downloaded windows XP- service pack 3, & 3 network software recommended for my laptop by Dell from the website and updated to the Intel PROSET/Wireless WIFI connection utility, d) ran ipconfig/all from C prompt and know the ethernet connections are disabled, e) called and checked with our local ISP and cleared the connection from their end. To sum it, I have tried everything I know and am still not able to maintain a steady connection to the net using WIFI. However I am able to connect using the cable to the router, so my net provider said the problem is with the wireless connection on the laptop. I didnt have this problem before.

Jan 14, 2012I have recently bought a new XPS 15Z Currently when I surf the internet I am unable to use the browsers ( IE9 or firefox ). I am able to use non-broswer related internet applications like STEAM, MSN or QQ with no issues in terms of speed or stability. But when I use my browsers to surf, I can have periodic moments when I cannot surf the internet, such as IE9 which says that I cannot connect to the internet due to some unknown error. But when I run diagnostics, it says that I do not have any errors. My adapter for my wired is the Atheros AR8151 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.20). I have already contacted my ISP provider who have worked for with all the troubleshooting methods they can over the phone, and I trust that they are doing their best. But now it seems to me that the problem lies in my computer hardware or software and not in my router.

Jan 23, 2012I reformatted my HDD (needed to do that anyway) and re-installed Windows 7 and all drivers (Chipset 1st) from my Dell CD after messing up a recovery test.
Everything seemed fine. But now, when I am surfing the Internet, I sometimes lose the connection. The icon in the Taskbar has a yellow exclamation point. (This does not happen in Slackware on the same machine, just in Windows 7.)
The first time this happened, I couldn't ping my router, so I checked all cables, cable modem, and router. But they were all fine and my other (really old desktop running Puppy Linux) was still connected fine and could surf to new web pages.
I did "ipconfig /release" and "ipconfig /renew" on the Dell in Windows 7 and the NIC got the correct IP address and gateway. Now I could ping the router, but I could not ping the Internet, which didn't make any sense, since the other computer was accessing the Internet just fine on the same router! (No IP address confilict exists, and gateway was correct on both machines.) I tried updating the driver, but no new drivers were found. This first time, the issue was resolved by rebooting Windows 7. I also unchecked the setting to turn off the NIC to save power. (I just checked the USB hubs per another post, and it's also unchecked.)
The second time this happened, "ipconfig /renew" failed! I set everything manually (including DNS servers), and on reboot, it still wasn't working. I did a complete shutdown of the computer and startup, now it works again.
So here I am looking for a new driver (64-bit, signed). Not only is there not a new driver...they don't even list the current driver! The only one listed is from March 2010, my driver is June 2011. Current driver is version 7.46.610.2011. Where is there a newer Realtek driver? And why are this things so buggy more than a year after 7 came out, especially if these are supposedly signed by Microsoft?
Dell :: New Latitude E6510 Ethernet Connection?
Apr 10, 2011Purchased 6 new e6510 latitudes and were running into a fluke on a few of them.
When the users travel between locations, they sometimes find when they turn the laptops back on that the ethernet connection is disabled. Its not the wi fi switched off, but the actual ethernet connection in control panel is disabled.

Dell Latitude D600 Network Connection Fails
Feb 6, 2011problem with my Dell Latitude D600 Laptop,I tried re-installing my OS, so now with a fresh new OS the wireless capabilities worked fine, but only for the first day, then the next morning the whole problem began again. Now it would say " No supported wireless adapters found" and when i would open the device manager some devices would have the yellow exclamation point, some of the devices would say "Intel PCIC compatible PCMICA controller" and " PCMICA MTD-0002" or just "card bus controller" and many other ones that would alternate when they appear. And also sometimes my network adapters would completely disappear from the list. I also tried scanning my whole drive for viruses and nothing was found.
Then i found that if you disconnect the wireless adapter physically and re connect it, it might work, but it didn't. I should also add that before this problem for some time i had another problem with the same laptop that had to do with the battery malfunctioning, and it displays a 4 orange , 1 green pattern sequence on the LED charge display. But it had never affected any of the laptops hardware or software before, so I don't know if that might have anything to do with it.

Aug 17, 2012Lost my internet connection to my Dell XPS 435t/9000 running Win7 (64) yesterday. Unable to restore. No know configuration changes other than the regular weekly window update. My service provider is Verizon FIOS and all there stuff checks out. My iMAC and Dell Laptop connect fine through the same devices (router/modem/switch).
The xps shows no hardware faults and all the wired connections are intact. Unable to ping router. Network Sharing interface shows good connections to switch and router by a bad connection between router and internet.
Ran WIN7 network troubleshooter and it just told me to contact ISP.Rebooted machine several times but no joy.

When I start my laptop, it acquires the internet connection fine, whether wireless or the wired connection.However on the wired connection, if I unplug the cable and replug it, it does not get the connection. It shows Limited connectivity or no connection. If I try to repair, it says , the IP address could not be renewed. Nothing works but restarting the laptop.Same is the case with wireless connection at home. The first time it catches the wireless fine. However if the system gets locked because of inactivity, and I unlock it, I am left with LIMITED CONNECTIVITY or NO CONNECTION message on the Wireless. I need to restart my comp because the repair or the disable and enable of WLAN does not facilitate.

Oct 28, 2012I have a Dell Latitude E6510 with a DW1520 Wireless-N WLAN half-mini card. I used to have a D-Link router which broke down so I purchased a new router which is a Linksys E2500. I changed the configuration on my laptop to use WPA instead of WEP. My router is configured with fixed channels (not auto). My internet connection is continuously being dropped and I have to re-logon to everything (very annoying with vpn tunnels). All my other desktops/laptops in the house work without problems.

This keeps on stopping me from doing stuff like posting in forums (I was lucky to be able to post this :P), logging into my email, etc. This problem, however, never existed on the Compaq, so I know it's not the signal. Feb 26, 2011I finally moved on from my Dell Latitude, I purchased a Lenovo today.Just set up Windows 7 on it, but I am having a real problem...I have looked everywhere on the Internet for a fix and can't seem to find it.I am trying to connect to my home network, belkin54g, but am being told "No Internet access." Under Device Manager, I have two network adapters listed, a Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter and a Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller. My network is set up as such...My dad's Mac has the router/modem wired to it, and every other computer connects wirelessly. MY connection is set up as a Windows 7 "Home" network. When hovering over the wireless icon thing at the bottom right of the screen, it gives the network name in bold, then No Internet access in italics right below. I am connected to the home network for sure though, because when I view devices on this network, I see my brothers laptop listed. Most recently I tried to do a Winsock reset from the Command Prompt, but it didn't work.

I was just following the directions I had been given). Since the re-image, I cannot connect to the internet whatsoever. With a cable or wirelessly. My computer recognized the wireless networks I had at my house before the re-image, but there is no longer a wireless adapter even under my "network adapters." Moreover, every single "Other device" has a yellow exclamation point next to it. I cannot connect to any internet at all to remedy the problem and am at a loss for what to do.

It works fine on 3 notebooks, while on 2 notebooks the VPN connection fails with error:

We use a smartcard for VPN access (etoken from Aladdin)

It seems the problem is in the certificate, but I verified and Cisco client says it's ok. It's also the only valid certificate in MMC->Certificates->Personal.Furthermore, also using other smartcard (etokens) of other users it doesn't work.

We are using a small office network with y computers connect the laptop being the third and I am connected via wireless connection. I can connect to our network printer and the other 3 computers without a problem but I cannot go ontothe internet. I have an ip address 10.0:0:9 which is within our LAN range and my subnet mask is 255.255.255.0. I cannot also setup outlook and if I ping sites like google .com I get the reply 'could not find host'
