I have a laptop DELL Latitude E6500. I cannot connect it to LAN through Intel (R) 82567 LM Gigabit Network adapter. Connection is set up by DHCP. I get error message: "cable is unplugged", but cable is functional. How I can resolve this problem?

I've tried downloading software from Dell's web site, I bought (and returned) and USB to Ethernet cable, only to find out that it was a model ahead of what this machine needs.I've asked local repair place (Microcenter) what it might be, but they'll only tell me after I pay $70 just to open it up.Another repair guy said that it is probably the motherboard and it wasn't worth fixing. View 3 Replies View RelatedI have no Internet connection, and when I diagnose it, it will say, " plug an Ethernet cable in" when there is already one in. So I will attempt to restart it, and it will freeze when it says "Starting Windows" and it will do so every time. Until I pull the power cord from the back and plug it in again. Then it will log in fine, and the same problem will occur. I ran virus scans and nothing was infected. I had just recently got it rebooted also, twice in fact since this problem keeps reoccurring. (This computer has never blue screened or crashed) Every other device plugged into the router is working fine (Gaming consoles Xbox, and PS3). My friends laptop internet was fine also when we plugged it in using the Ethernet cable when he stayed at my place for days, also no problems with the wireless devices using the router.
View 9 Replies View RelatedLast night, my internet was working perfectly and I closed my computer lid before going to sleep as usual. This morning, I wake up to use my computer and the internet isn't working. I check the icon at the top and instead of showing an empty wireless meter with an X over it, it shows a computer and a cable with an X over it, which isn't normal. My laptop is an Acer Aspire 5532 with a built in wireless adapter and it has a button near the power button that turns the adapter on and off. I decided to turn it off, give it a while, and turn it on, but that didn't fix it, so I restarted the computer.
Now, when I try to turn it on an off, it gives the wireless symbol with a circled X over it. I have checked the device in Device Manager to see if it is working and it says it is working properly. So I uninstalled it, restarted and the computer automatically installed software like it should, but that didn't fix it. I tried a System Restore, but that didn't work as well. Another thing I should mention is that I have tried rolling back the driver (which didn't fix anything), then I updated it, which also didn't fix anything.
Is there anything else I should try? The only thing Diagnostics can detect is an unplugged cable, but it's built in, so it doesn't require a cable (I've had it for >1 year and this is the first problem I've had).I downloaded Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector and it says no wireless adapters can be found.
I have a Lynksys WRT600N. I had DD-WRT on it and it was working great for about a year. One day I changed some minor settings like wireless signal type, reboot it and it's gone. I can not access it from my computer. The network adapter shows "cable unplugged". The lights on the front come on, but I can't get anywhere with it.
I've done all the resets I know how to do, including the 30/30/30 and leaving it unplugged for a few months.
Can't log on to computer running win xp sp3. I'm getting message that ethernet cable is unplugged but it's not unplugged. The modem/router was installed by Verizon (for FIOS connection) in February 2011. Internet was working fine until a couple of days ago. I have looked at other posts on this issue but have found nothing that would solve the problem. My old dial-up modem was still installed in the computer and had a question mark on it in device manager so I removed it. I thought maybe there was an IRQ conflict as the modem used to use IRQ 11 and the network card (linksys) uses that sometimes as well as IRQ 10 but that didn't work.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI have an Inspiron 17R SE 7720 that is about a half-year old. This problem has been occurring for as long as I can recall. I'm running Windows 8, but this problem was identical with Windows 7.
My Ethernet adapter, a Realtek 10/100, works on boot-up. At some random point it stops working. It could be days later, it could be after waking up, it could be within an hour of a boot without sleep. "Network Connections" shows the adapter as enabled but unplugged. I can correct the problem by disabling the adapter and then re-enabling it, but that only works maybe a couple of times in a row. In the latest instance (moments ago), I right-clicked the adapter to disable it, and then right-clicked to enable it again. Normally the adapter would then show the adapter as enabled and the cable connected. When things really go wrong, a window pops up that first says "Enabling..." and then "Enabled", but it is still grayed out and not enabled. The only solution I have is to reboot the machine.
I've been trying unsuccessfully for weeks to find out how to turn on the Bluetooth adapter (turn Bluetooth radio on) on my Dell Latitude D620.
Firstly does the D620 have a built in Bluetooth adapter? I've done a search on the web and it appears it does. Also I see a Bluetooth symbol just above my keyboard, but it is not lighted up. How do I turn it on?
I went to Control Panel, Device Manager -> Network adapters, but I don't see any Bluetooth devices listed there.
Do I need to install some software? I went to support.dell.com and downloaded the installer for Dell Wireless 350 Bluetooth Internal Module driver. But when I install it, it is tries to install the Vista Profile Pack, and it fails because it "Could not find compatible bluetooth chip on your system" and "DFU install failed with returncode 137".
Purchased 6 new e6510 latitudes and were running into a fluke on a few of them.
When the users travel between locations, they sometimes find when they turn the laptops back on that the ethernet connection is disabled. Its not the wi fi switched off, but the actual ethernet connection in control panel is disabled.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWith a clean install of Windows 8 64-bit...If I boot the laptop with the Ethernet cable disconnected, I will still get "media disconnected" from ipconfig if I then connect the Ethernet cable after login. The Ethernet connection comes back to life if I put the laptop to sleep and then wake it up, but it will go back to "media disconnected" state again if I unplug and replug the network cable.The laptop has the latest BIOS from Dell from this model (A32 -- and has been reset to the factory settings), but I'm wondering if any of the 21 (!) Advanced driver properties need to be toggled to something else for this particular model of Ethernet card to function. The driver version is 10.1.10.1 (dated 6/25/2012) as installed by Windows 8 64-bit.(I tried "updating" to the 10.1.12.1 driver from Dell's site -- for Windows 7 -- but that one is dated 3/23/2011, oddly enough, and cut down the number of Advance options to 6… -- and it still has the same problem -- Ethernet does not automatically reconnect if I unplug and replug the cable…)Might this be something I need to flip in the BIOS for this model?
I have a Latitude D630 -- running the same build of Windows 8 32-bit (but a different Ethernet adaptor, obviously) -- that does not have this problem. So it's not specifically a Windows 8 issue -- but an issue with the specific Ethernet card.

My wireless has been working successfully for the past 2 years no problems till now. I have a Dell Latitude E6410 my computer is running Windows 7 32bit. When I open up the DW WLAN Card Utility it says "There are currently no wireless adapters available and enabled. Please enable any available wireless adapters before accessing this configuration utility. I tried reinstalling drivers for the wireless but my computer says "no compatible hardware found".
Also the under the wireless adapters section of Device Manager there isn't an adapter for wireless, but there is an unknown device.

I've installed version 4.8.02.0010 of the VPN client onto a Dell Latitude D820 laptop. When I attempt to connect, I get this message. There are no firewalls running (I disabled the Windows XP firewall) and I'm running under Service Pack 2 with all of the latest security patches from Microsoft.
I even tried un-installing the client and using an older version (4.8.00.0440) and it reports a similar error in the Log file.
I'd prefer to NOT have to wipe the laptop and reinstall the O/S if I don't have to. This is the only laptop that I've experienced this problem with but it's also the first Dell Latitude D820 that I've attempted to install the client on.
Is there a problem with the Dell Latitudes and the VPN Client? Is there another way around this other than a wipe and re-install?

I use a hardwired Ethernet adapter to connect to the internet from home. I cannot connect to the internet on the N5110 but can connect on my desktop PC. I look at the hardware device manager and cannot find an Ethernet adapter. This leads me to believe something happened to the card. It should show up in the hardware profile. I don't want to use a wireless connection. I want to use my hardwired Ethernet adapter.
How can get the system to recognize the device? I don't need to send it in for repair. There is some work I do that can only be done on this computer.
i have installed linksys pci adapter with speed wmp54gs. i try and turn it on and it will not show any devices and it will not let me click on rescan the the only thing that highlights is exit when you open!

When I try to add it, it will not let me and wants me to add the hardware via a disk or CD rom, which I don't have. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a couple of Ethernet cables, however a lot of them have their latches broken off but that hasn't stopped my laptop from working but it isn't just that when i plug in a Ethernet cord with the latch into the port of the 660s no lights show up, plus when i put in another cable, i guess some regular cord , i do get lights but that doesn't connect me to the internet...and i am just confused.
So what i am trying to say is: Is there something wrong with the port?
