I uninstalled AVG today [URL] as I want to use Microsoft Security Essentials instead. Since then the internet connection won't stay for more than a few seconds. I use Windows XP home and a Dell UBS 1450 wireless adapter (as I need a 3 metre extension to get a signal to the desktop). I had no such problme before today.

All my internet devices (Laptops, PS3, iPad etc.) have been able to acess the new network but my old Dell XPS 600 with its Dell 1450 wireless card cannot "see" the new network. When I refresh available networks in wireless connections the old XPS 600 can see various networks (neighbours etc.) but cannot recognise the new network even though its working fine with my other PCs
Do I need to upgrade the Dell 1450 wireless card ? If so what am I missing - what requirements do I miss? Which card should I buy?
I built my new computer a while ago & I have went through 3 wireless network adapters already... 2 from d-link that just stopped working after 1-3 months and my current linksys ae3000 disconnects from internet randomly while gaming.I am looking for a new Wireless Network Adapter, or any tips or anything to stop my current problem.

Computer recognized it and attempted to install using plug and play XP. Displayed the message that the driver(s) were missing. Went to Broadcom website and found the driver dl site clicked on the BCM94309M site but no driver(s) download available. Where I can download the drivers?
View 2 Replies View RelatedYesterday work installed Kaspersky on my laptop and after trying to acess outlook and the internet today I find that although I have connection no internet page will dispay and outlook will not connect to the server.All other laptops/PS3 are working on the network except mine.Kapersky has been uninstalled, windows firewall has been turned off, various pings all returned a reply and all the settings are apparently spot on.

After checking device manager I now have little yellow exclamation marks next to my Ethernet Controller, WAN miniport, and my Nvidia network controller.
I tried a registry clean to no avail.
Running Windows 7 on a Toshiba Satellite laptop. Had BSECURE web filter on computer last couple years but decided it cost too much. Uninstalled the program and now none of the web browsers will connect to internet (have IE, Chrome, and Firefox).I shut down Avast and Windows Firewall, but had no effect. Checked each browsers settings and all seems normal. The computer detects the wireless connection just fine.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOk, so my internet disconnects while downloading at high speeds, anything higher than 2mbs. I end up having to reboot my computer because my modem looks fine and even if I reboot it, it does not fix the problem. Repairing the connection does not work either.I have a Dell XPS 720 H2C. The computer came out in 2007, costed like 6 grand lol. I'm happy with it aside form this problem though. It sucks cause they quickly stopped making the computer so tech support on it is tough to come by. I have Cox Communications and when I run speedtest.net I get 140/30. I'm hoping they aren't disconnecting people that reach a certain download speed.Anyway I'm fairly positive it is an issue with my computer or Windows Vista. I know I should upgrade to Windows 7 and I just might if it turns out to be the culprit. I just don't want to do that unless I absolutely have to. So ya, first off when using utorrent my internet will crash if I have a lot of different torrents open and downloading at the same time. It will also crash if I have one torrent active and that torrent goes above 2-2.5 mbs download speed.Also when downloading from a fast filelocker my internet will crash. The only filelocker that will crash my internet without me browsing at the same time is a filelocker called Gamerfront. The speeds are around 2mbs. I will also crash sometimes though if I'm downloading and browsing at the same time. My downloading speeds could be well below 2mbs but if I am watching youtube, streaming, or just browsing the internet sometimes the internet will crash.
That is the main problem, but sometimes, rarely I'll disconnect just from watching a youtube video. That's happened maybe 3 or 4 times. Anyway that is the summary of my issue. Again only a computer reboot will fix my connection. When I get disconnected the modem does not change at all and is still working perfectly. The modem is relatively brand new as well. I haven't tried much to fix it because I just have no idea what I could do. Device manager looks fine, no exclamation points. I know when most people have this problem it's because of a router or it's the modem but I don't use a router and my modem seems to be totally fine. [code]
I just got the Alienware m14x r2 few days ago. I checked everything and there was nothing bad with my new laptop.
But today, I realized that my laptop disconnected internet randomly while I was gaming or browsing, then it automatically reconnected after 20 or 30 seconds. Sometime it could not reconnect internet, and I had to do it manually !!!!
I searched how to fix this issue from the Internet. Most people said that this problem was caused by my router, but I don't think so because my old laptop and my phone still worked well and did not have the same problem with my new laptop !!!

My Vista computer and my XP computer had been happily "talking" to each other, sharing files and printers. I got tired of paying $70 a year for Norton Internet Security, so I uninstalled it (using the Norton removal tool) and selected the Windows Firewall. I also installed Avast! and SuperAntiSpyware. Now neither computer talks to the other. When I run "\FamilyRoomHPOfficeJet" I get "Windows cannot access \FamilyRoomHPOfficeJet" . Check spelling, etc. Get error code 0x800704b3 "The network path was either typed incorrectly, does not exist or the network provider is not currently available..." What have I messed up by going from the Norton firewall to the Windows one.

Till yesterday everything was fine, all of a sudden my laptop stopped connecting to internet through wireless.I have tried it in safe mode. I have tried to delete the network also but now that left me with inputting the password everytime I want to connect. Its showing all the networks available, and it shows connected. but there is a triangle on the signal. When i disconnect and connect it again, then i get an error saying "windows cannot conenct to wireless network". When i click on the Trouble shoot problems, its showing below

But still it won't connect to the network. i've been searching in the internet for solution but couldn't find it. In a couple of tech forums people posted same problem for Dell studio 1555. But there is no solution. I think it has something to do with this model? I've been using it for past 3 years without many problems(except my mike is stuck with only yahoo messenger and won't work on skype/gtalk etc)I tried to download drivers from dell and install, but it gives error saying "This software package cannot be installed on your system. Setup will now exit."
I tried removing the drivers and then rebooted the system. The drivers were then automatically installed by the windows again. I went to Intel website and it downloaded a tool to my pc to check for old drivers and it found out my adapter was not having new drivers so I downloaded the drivers from there, installed them but its still the sameThis is my wireless adapter. Older model Inspiron 1545' using the 1397 WLAN card. Has been working fine, until perhaps the past two weeks. Now it frequently drops out, requiring manual disconnect and reconnect. Tonight Internet very slow on that laptop.
There are other devices using the same wifi (including this iPad used to post this), which connect to the wifi and Internet no issue. To me, its pointing to the laptop - either the WLAN card itself, or something in the laptop starting to fail (the laptop does have issues restarting - where it won't do that unless left for say 30 mins).
I'm suspecting a recent windows update or mcafee security update - no other software has been installed or updated.
I've tried changing antenna setting from auto to aux with no change to the above. Have checked for newer drivers - the laptop reports the version we have is the latest ( from 2009) - although they are the windows driver. Running windows 7, 64 bit - as supplied by dell when laptop was brand new. should I give up on the 1397 card and use another USB wifi adapter ?
Whenever i boot my machine (sometime from hibernate mode), sometimes WiFi adapter refuses to connect to internet. if i reset WiFi adapter then also it refuses to connect to internet. the only solution i found is to restart entire OS.

I have changed the power settings from the device drivers (Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power) but the problem persists.
I am running Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) on a Dell Inspiron 560. I am using a DI-524 D-Link wireless router. I have an Acer Aspire One Net Book running Windows XP Home it is equipped with an internal wireless network adapter. I can connect/communicate with router and access the internet with no problems whatever. However, when I connect an external wireless network adapter e.g. Alpha AWUS036H I cannot get a connection when I disable my internal network adapter. I have also tried the Trendnet TEW-424UB USB external wireless network adapter and the symptoms are exactly the same.

View 3 Replies View RelatedAs the title says I'm having really annoying 3 second disconnects every 3 minutes or so. I don't notice this when I'm browsing, just when I'm gaming. I realize that wireless and gaming don't mix but it's my only option at this point. What I'm looking for is a steady connection so I don't keep lagging out. I usually don't lag out from the server but it will say "There is a problem with your connection" for a second than resume as it takes a few more seconds to fully recover. The router in which its connected to is a room away though I live in an apartment so I'm not sure if that's part of the problem. The receiver I'm using is a dlink DWA-160.

This happens pretty frequently, about once a minute or so. It makes doing anything over wifi almost impossible. Plugging in an ethernet cable (directly from modem or from wireless router) keeps the internet connected. My wife's laptop, coincidentally also a Dell, doesn't have this problem. Neither do mine or my wife's iPhones or my kids' Nintendo DSs. I'm totally lost. Dell Online is saying my desktop is out of warranty and I cannot lodge and email service request.i have noticed with my XPS8300 then when playing games (not online) or when streaming videos, the wireless NIC will either disconnect (and refuse to reconnect even though it can see the network) or remains connected but does not allow any traffic to flow. The wireless NIC returns to normal roughly a minute afer I have exited / closed a game.
If I try to run online games (i.e. COD Black Ops), I constantly get the "Connection Interrupted" error message despite the wireless NIC showing full connection.To test whether if it's the room, I brought in my laptop and it did not have the same issue. Therefore, I am thinking it could be the half-mini wireless NIC.I have tried looking everywhere but nobody seems to have experienced this or have a solution. Dell just told me to reinstall the drivers, which I've done but to no avail.

Following a recent reinstall of windows XP, my wireless no longer works. The Intel Proset / Wireless software is controlling the wireless connection and it indicates that the wireless is turned off. It states that I should use the wireless On/Off switch to enable it. I can find no such switch to enable the wireless.
I have seen that the Fn + F2 combinaion should toggle the switch, but it does not work on my system. In the device manager, everything seems to be installed and working correctly. In Control Panel / Network Connections, the Intel Pro/Wireless is shown for the wireless Network Connection, but it is shown as not connected.how to turn on the adapter so that I can make a wireless connection?
