The wireless internet keeps cutting out but only on my laptop,it cuts out and then connect again.I have downloaded drivers for my dell laptop but it hasn't solved the problem.I'm no whizkid at laptops and only got this laptop a few months ago, it's so annoying.I wish I had brought it back straight away.
View 1 RepliesWe have a Belkin N300 router connected to the internet through a cable modem(Comcast). Up until yesterday it worked fine for all the devices connected. But now whenever my brother's laptop connects(wireless) to the network it makes the router lose connection to the internet so all the devices connected lose connection, too obviously. Everything shows connected to the router, but the router releases it's DHCP whenever he connects. As soon as he turns off his wifi or manually chooses to disconnect... the internet fires right back up within a minute or so. We have no idea what is causing this. We did notice that his laptop was trying to connect with IPV6 while everything else was using IPV4

I have also experienced this with every network I have tried to connect to; it does the same thing. I figure it is therefore a problem with my laptop itself, but trouble shooting has yielded nothing and most of the fixes I have found require connecting to the network, but obviously I cannot do that.I can connect with an Ethernet cable just fine. My guess would be that there is a setting that is incorrect within the wireless on my computer, but what that is I could not even venture to guess.

I installed it from the disk, and it worked for around a minute, then... nothing. This kept happening every time with several reboots and reinstalls inbetween.I thought maybe the adapter was faulty, so I installed it on my Mums laptop. It worked great.I have tried flushing the dns, and some other command prompt based things suggested on other sites, but to no avail.But here's the thing that strikes me as funny: Even when it connects to the internet for that minute or so I cannot ping the router, even though it says on the router page (viewed from another computer) that I am definately connected to it. I also cannot ping google or anything but myself.
View 5 Replies View RelatedThe modem connects to a D-Link DIR-655 which connects to a computer (Vista) and a switch, the switch then connects to another computer (Win7) and an xbox. the problem is that the vista computer will randomly connect and disconnect from the internet/ network. The vista computer also generally runs very slow on the internet. The Win7 computer runs perfectly and there is never an issue, so I'm wondering if the problem has to do with the vista computer not being connected to the switch? It is not an issue with the router, I have tried two already and the same issue occurs.the vista computer is running with a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R which has a Realtek 8111C LAN chipset.

After a couple of hours using the internet, the connection stopped. The wireless router still had an 'Excellent' signal, but it also said I had no internet access. All of the other wireless devices in my house connect to the internet perfectly, including when right next to the laptop.I've tried disabling the firewall and resetting the computer a few times, but nothing seems to pick up the internet access. The troubleshooting guide tells me that it is a problem with the wireless modem, but quite obviously that isn't true.

It's great, but I ordered a rosewill wireless adapter for it and noticed that my connection strength and speed are both pretty terrible. I went on amazon and bought a TP-Link wireless adapter(TL-WN822N). I installed the most recent "V2" drivers from their website and upon disabling my rosewill adapter and enabling the new TP-Link adapter, I was able to connect to the network, but not access the internet. I have tried power cycling the router, using the reset switch on the router, restarting my computer, and a bunch of commands that I found on this site. Is it possible that I have a defective adapter?
Also, some more information: My isp is comcast and the router is from them as well. Here is my ipconfig /all log for the rosewill adapter(internet access):

If you place the laptop next to the cable modem/router, the connection stay up and the download speed is fast (40+Mbps on a 100 MBps connection. In the begining the desktop would always say its had limited connection the the network and such i couldnt connect to the internet but disconnecting the router several times and restarting the computer several times eventually the computer would have full internet access through the network without disconnecting at all.
A few days later the computer starting connecting to the network and gaining full internet access usually without turning of the computer and restarting it although i would disconnect from the internet every now and again for a minute or so and reconnect automatically this would happen more frequently when using Skype or msn messenger extremely frequent when using skype and especially when in a call.ive updated the driver of the wireless dongle to the latest version.my desktop is running vista while the laptops are running windows 7 and mac osx or whatever.ive also download a free version of avast and given a full scan of my computer without finding any threats.
I've recently installed the E2500, and it's been mostly great....when it's connected. Set up was easy, all the devices in the house were recognized, the coverage is excellent, and it's nice and fast. But several times throughout the day, the wireless signal will simply drop off. Disconnecting and re-connecting gets it back on, but an hour or two later, it's off again. It;s fairly frustrating because you'll be in the middle of something, and you'll have to manually disconnet, and then reconnect. The status will show as "Local". Running Windows XP with Verizin FIOS. Old Linksys wireless router never had a connection problem.
