Linksys Access Point :: Difference Between Wumc710 And Netgear R6300

Feb 16, 2013

I´ve recently purchased a Netgear r6300 and a wifi ac bridge (Linksys wumc710) When hooking up my Readynas Pro to the r6300 via the wumc710 I only get transfer rates at max 8MB/s. That´s not very impressive, and even with the bridge located within 10 feet of the router, no walls in between. What am I doing wrong? I´ve set the MTU on the Readynas and the r6300 to 1500.When doing a wired test between the r6300 and the Readynas Pro I can copy a file from the Nas to desktop at approx 80-100MB/s, but with wireless ac via the wumc710 only at 4-8MB/s.

Linksys Access Point :: Connect And Configure WAP54G Access Point To New Cable Modem?

Nov 1, 2012

How do I connect and configure my WAP54G wireless access point to my new Cable Modem? I have it connected to the modem but I cannot access it to configure it. It appears to be working but before I got the cable modem I had it connected to a router and it was set-up with a static IP address. With my new ISP, I no longer have a static IP address so I am trying to configure the WAP54G to use DHCP. Trying to access it thru the internet at 192.168.1.245 does not work.

Linksys Access Point :: WRT54G - Unable To Find Access Point In Home Network

Aug 29, 2009

I just bought an LG Bluray DVD player (BD390) which is unable to find the access point in my home network. My router is a WRT54G, ver. 2.2, running firmware: Ver.4.21.1.  My home network uses high speed cable with two computers on the wireless network, all working with no problems. The router is on the second floor but the two computers and the new BD390 are on the first floor - about 35 feet away. I have the wirelss security set to none and use only the specific computer MAC addresses to allow connection to this network.

I found directions in the forum for a setup using the LG BD390  but with a different Linksys router. I changed the security to WPA (AES); the Beacon interval from 100 to 75; the Fragmentation Threshold from 2346 to 2304; and the RTS Threshold  from 2347 to 2307. The DVD wireless connection still failed to find my network. There is a "Push button" connection feature on the BD390 setup which I tried, but the only "button" on the router I could find was in the basic wireless setting, a green icon for the wireless SSID setup. No connection was made there either.

The recommendation connection from the LG manual is for a network cable, but that would be over 50 feet and a real pain to connect, so I would prefer WiFi.

Linksys Access Point :: WAP54G Access Point Unable To Connect To More Than One PC?

Apr 25, 2011

I've got a AP WAP54G. I've managed to get into the configuration page and rename my router and set a WPA2-Personl password.

The issue I'm facing is that when me and my roomate try to connect to the router at the same time, it shows the laptop that connects second as one that has 'limited connectivity' and hence cannot use the internet. The 1st laptop however works fine!
The settings for the router have all been left to default.

I'm not sure, but does this problem have anything to do with the fact that the router in configured with a static IP. If so, then there is another issure which is that whenever I try to change it from static to automatic/dynamic IP, the page fails and the router doesn't even get connected to the configuraion page(192.168.1.245) after that. The only way to get that page again is the reset the router.

Also I'm not able to directly get into the config page when I connect my router to my laptop via lan. I need to change the LAN IP to 192.168.1.x where x is >1.

Linksys Access Point :: WRT120N - Cannot Connect To An Access Point

May 10, 2013

I'm using a WRT120N and have had no problems connecting most wireless devices, but a Nintendo DS and DSi owned by my family are unable to connect to the access point. My wireless security mode is disabled, network mode is set to mixed, SSID is the same as on the DS/DSi, Channel width is 20Mhz only, Standard channel is set to 6, but I tried using channel 1 and 11 without success, SSID broadcast is enabled.

I've tried every work-about I could find and always get the 51300 error code, and am at a loss as to what else I can try to get the devices to connect to the access point.

Converting Router To Access Point

Mar 22, 2012

I am having problem converting my router echolife HG532b to work as an access point. I have main router as linksys wag 120 with IP adress 192.168.1.1 and DHCP server enabled and IP range from 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.100 . I changed the IP adress of the echolife to IP adress withen the range of DHCP and disabled the DHCP server according to this thread Connecting Additional Routers, I changed the wireless setting to match main router with secondary router and connected Cable from main router to LAN port of echolife. When i tried to connect wireless to the network. It takes 5-15 second obtaining the IP adress then it connects but with limited connection with no internet. I have noticed that when i just plug the cable to echolife it become online in the network map for 10-30 sec then it goes offline. I tried to choose IP adress for echolife outside the range of DHCP. In network map echolife stays online but still same problem limited connecting and no internet

Connect A Router To An Access Point?

Dec 9, 2011

I currently have a network setup like this:

Route 1 --> Switch --> Access Points ---> Router2 connected to one of the access point

So pretty much I'm trying to create a wireless network for a temple. I set up a network with several access points as above. However, they wanted a network for the office separate from the rest of the temple. So I decided to setup Router2 and connect it to one of the LAN ports of an access point.

However, this seems messing up the whole network. People can connect to the access points but they won't have access to the Internet. Also, if I connect my laptop to the office network, I wouldn't see the gateway as 192.168.1.1, which was set for Router2. Instead, I always saw the IP address of Router1 as the gateway.

Get A Wireless Access Point (not A Router)?

Dec 4, 2011

1) I have an appliance that I need connected to the internet however it only accepts an ethernet cable(cat5 is the name I think). However, my modem and wireless router is another room, and I do not want to extend a cable from one room to another. I was wondering if I can do this:

Get a Wireless Access Point(not a router). I noticed that there are ethernet ports behind the WAP. Can I configure the WAP so that it receives internet connection from my original router, and then when the WAP has internet connection, can I just plug a ethernet cable from the WAP to any appliance that I want to go online with.I will try to make it easier:

Modem---(WIRED CONNNECTION)---Router...........(Wireless Connection)......WAP----(Wired Connection)----APPLIANCE

I read somewhere that you can only connect to the WAP wirelessly, and not through ethernet. And if I can, is it easy to set up for a noobie like me?

2) If this sort of configuration is possible, can the router and WAP be different brands? For example, can my router be Linksys and my Wireless Access Point be D Link?

Getting An Access Point To Communicate With A Router?

Nov 28, 2012

My basement doesn't get a good wireless signal. It doesn't affect my computer since it's hardwired via a couple of Asoka PlugLinks. However, I've always had bad signal reception from my main router which is two floors above. Because of this, I was rarely able to connect my Wii to the internet and am now unable to connect my Wii U to it either.Recently I purchased a new wireless router (a Linksys e1200n) to speed up the network. So, having a spare router (the old router: a Linksys WRT54G), I decided to try to convert it to an access point in the basement so the Wii U could finally get a stable internet connection (it's very picky about signal strength for some reason). I reset the old router and followed some instructions on how to make it an access point instead of a router. Once it was configured I bought another Asoka PlugLink and placed the WRT54G in the basement. I connected the PlugLink to the wall outlet and connected the Ethernet cable to LAN port 1 on the WRT54G. I thought everything would be fine, but then the problems came.

My Wii U was unable to connect to it. I also tested a couple of laptops and they were able to connect to it, but they couldn't access the internet. I assumed maybe distance from the main router was the cause(a PlugLink is connected from LAN port 1 on the back of the main router into a wall outlet, linking other PlugLinks to it), but my computer's PlugLink is in the same room and has no problems connecting.
