Does SOCKS5 Expect Layer 4 Header

Apr 11, 2012

I managed to narrow down my question to this.SOCKS5 proxy is able to handle both TCP and UDP transport protocols. If I have IPinIP encapsulated tunnel, will this work?
in other words, does SOCKS5 expect Layer 4 header immediately after Layer 3 header or not?

Cisco Routers :: 887VA Cannot Expect Client To Make Change Every-time

May 16, 2013

I have a curious issue on a customer site where the above components are installed. The issue being that the iPhones the users utilise cannot connect to the mail server via WiFi, they are forced to connect with their 3G connection. The core issue seems to be the 887VA, as when I've installed 'lesser' branded ADSL routers, the connection seems to be fine. The iPhones are set to access the mail server via the URL: mail.customer.com. Should I change this to the internal IP of the server 192.168.12.200, the mail connection works fine. However I cannot expect the client to make this change every time they arrive or leave the office. Presently I have them disable WiFi when on premises.

Cisco Application :: Insert Http Header Ace 4710

Jan 9, 2013

I have an ACE version A5.2 configured in one-armed leg (doing source nat). I have a requirement to add(or copy) the "referer" header value from the original request to the request send by ACE.

I cannot figure out how to copy this value. It is easy to add the source ip address  by adding: " insert-http x-forwarded-for header-value "%is".

So how I am going to copy the Refere header?

#Referer
#Address (URI) of the resource from which the URI in the request was obtained

Everythings works great in http but no in https. In my example, i would like [URL] to be redirected to my server2 but it's always using the default rules instead of the L7CLASSSrv2. Today [URL] is well redirected. All other apps are correctly loadbalance with the stickyness effect but I can't handle the https connections.

Cisco Application :: Insert X-Forward Header In ACE 4710?

May 5, 2013

We are using Cisco ACE 4710 to load balance servers. We have created VIP under the interface vlan using nat-pool command. Also, we have changed the gateway of the server to point to the ACE vlan ip address which is created using alias 10.x.x.x 255.x.x.x command under the interface vlan. In short ACE is in inline mode for the servers which needs to be load balanced.

[code]...

But still I am not able to view the original client IP. Just to add more, the site is a HTTPS site & we have not doing any kind of SSL offloading on the ACE, it is taken care by server itself

I just want to do the HTTP & HTTPS load balancing without SSL offloading & should be able to see the original client IP in the server logs

Connecting Two Subnets At Layer 2

Jul 2, 2012

I have :

- two different subnets (S1, S2)

- these subnets are connected to an IP backbone via wirelles acces points

I would like to physically connect these subnets together so the networks devices in S1 could directly communicate with the devices in S2 and vice versa without going through the backbone.

The obvious solution seems to interconnect these subnets with a router or a switch L3. But I would like to connect these subnets and stay at layer 2.

So, is it possible to connect S1 and S2 with a switch L2 ? If I do that, what is going to happen? Can I create just one subnet S3 from this two subnets when I connect them together and have my two separate subnets back as soon as I disconnect them?

Cisco :: Can QoS Be Retained From Layer 2 To 3 Without VLANs

Feb 9, 2013

I have a question about QoS and how, or if, it functions between a layer 2 switch and a router. My question is, can a frame's COS sent from a layer 2 switch to a router be recognized and converted (mapped) to a DSCP setting without the use of a vlan (not the native vlan1), and can the reverse be done from a router to a layer 2 switch? Can QoS be preserved as it passes through the different devices? I know, pretty basic, but I have to start somewhere.

Cisco :: How To Configure IP On Layer 3 Interface On Nexus

Apr 11, 2011

With most of my Layer2/Layer3 switches, I'm accustom to giving them a SVI on my management VLAN, and calling it a day. I can't find in the Cisco Nexus guides how to do something similar; everything points to the mgmt0 physical interface, which seems like I need to uplink it to an access port on another switch. Can somebody point me in the right direction for how to do give the Nexus an IP that I can ssh/snmp into it across a trunk for management? I must just be missing the keyword.. NX-OS is still quite a different beast.I see in the manual it says: "SSH has the following prerequisites: You have configured IP on a Layer 3 interface, out-of-band on the mgmt 0 interface or inband on an Ethernet interface." Cisco Nexus 5000 Series Switch CLI Software Configuration Guide page 284, How do I configure an IP on a Layer 3 interface on a Nexus?

Upon exam the VLAN is at the remote site but it does not work.
