so i can not connect to net on my desktop but my wifi works fine, the error is the realtek PCIe FE family controller (code 31) i have tried updating the drivers but nothing i have verizion fios.

I've thought for a long time that there is probably something wrong with my network card, but I've run some tests that I saw on the internet, and it appears as if the network card is fine. I've also thought that there might have been a program or something that I installed that could have caused this problem, but I can't find the problem. When I go to the device manager, I can find one network card called: "Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller". I've tried to reinstall the card, but it doesn't work. I can't find any software on the internet for this card either.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIve just downloaded wireshark just to mess around and ive noticed that even when ive got nothing open its still capturing packets. It gives me a choice of interfaces i want to choose to monitor and i would of thought it be "Realtek PCIe Family Controller" as this is normally the default one (im using wireless) but its saying no packets are being captured from this interface its the "Microsoft" Interface thats capturing the packets. Ive attached a screenshot, i know this isnt nothing bad but was just wondering 1) why isnt my Realtek PCIe interface capturing anything (even when i have youtube open it doesnt capture anything) and 2) why is Microsoft capturing packets? what is this microsoft interface and why is it capturing packets when nothing is open.

Being disabled and pretty much not able to work no longer with a life threatning illness, and not much in my bank account, I have not much to worry about this. However I dont want my typical neighborhood kid hacking on my connection either, it tends to slow down your bandwidth.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a wireless modem/router that I connect to my PC thru USB cable and working fine. I newly installed Lan Card (Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC) and it doesn't connect to internet. It says connected with 100Mbps but Received data bytes are ZERO.
I did ipconfig/all and got all static address I had given while setup. When I "ping 127.0.0.1" it works fine. When I ping 'default gateway IP' it also sends/receives data. When I try to install the driver I got in the CD along with the LAN card, it says "you have already installed recent driver needed etc. " and doesnt allow me to install from the CD. Currently it shows 'Driver Used as : c:windowssystem32driversRtnicxp.sys'

After installing several drivers and probably 10-20 tweaks, the issue has stopped for about 50 minutes after consistent at least every 10-20 minutes.I actually just placed an order for a Motorola Surfboard 6121 Although I need the upgrade anyway.

I have used various torrent clients and problem remains.I have the latest drivers Realtek 8168 v 7065 . Some suggested to turn Checksumms off from the property menu , but that would increase my CPU load. Some other suggested to turn off Task Offload , but I cant find anything similar in Properties.

Network fixes I have attempted from the OS level so far include:
~ Switching the dynamic port range to start at 10,000 and run for approximately 54,000 ports
~ Systematically reviewing every running service to make certain that only the essential ones are on
~ Disabling all NIC stacks except Client for Microsoft Networks, IPv4, File and Printer Sharing and Comodo
~ Attempted connections with Comodo turned completely off and its NIC driver disabled
~ Attempted rolling back the RealTek driver to an earlier one from the same family and device line

I have just purchased a new laptop (HP Pavilion G series) for my studies at university. The wirless works fine when I am connect to my network at home, but I am only able to connect to the university's network when an ethernet cable is plugged in. Everybody else I know, who has a similar setup to myself has no problems connecting to the network without the ethernet cable and I was curious as to why this might be.
I am running on Windows 7 and the wifi adapter is a Realtek RTL8188CE 802.11b/g/n

At startup we get a message from Norton A/Virus 2003 - Symantec cannot scan your email address, because your network is not properly configured.
Canceling this message and trying to connect to the internet using the Dial –up connection gives this message:
Error 720: A connection to the remote computer could not be established. You might need to change the network settings for this connection.
I have checked the Network Properties as per Windows Troubleshooter, but cannot find anything unusual.
I have also ran the Dell Diagnostic CD, but these tests have are all clear.
The Windows firewall is also disabled
When I try to enable it I get the error message –
Windows Firewall settings cannot be displayed because the associated service is not running. Do you want to start the Windows Firewall Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) service?
After clicking on “Yes” A dialog box shows “Starting the Windows ICS” Then comes the message “Windows cannot start the Windows Firewall /ICS Services”
All of a sudden, my ethernet port isn't being recognized. View 2 Replies View RelatedEverything was working fine, I was able to make everything work fine. Then yesterday morning I started up my computer and it was not connected to the internet. My ethernet was plugged in and everything was as it should be. I went in to device manager and noticed that my realtek network controller was not in the device list under network adapters. I then tried to reinstall my LAN drivers from ASUS (my motherboard) which is how I got it to work in the first place. However, this time when it "finishes" installing an error pops up and says "The realtek Network Controller was not found. If deep sleep mode is enabled Please plug the cable."

The board is amazing, especially for the money, except that I can't connect to the internet.So, for the last two weeks I've power-cycled about a billion times, ipconfig /this/that/and the next thing over and over, I've winsocked, I've turned programs on and off and on again, checked that the LAN is enabled in BIOS, firewall is off, and probably a bunch other things from the 100's of google pages I've searched.I spent 45 minutes on the phone with my ISP, and the guy was 99% sure there is something wrong with the NIC. Windows says that the device is working correctly, and I think that it is. There must be some setting, some driver, something that will reconnect me to the internet.

everything was fine until yesterday...started up laptop and noticed the network connection icon in my task bar hd the "red-x" through it...i knew something was up cuz i had ethernet hardline in to my machine. after I had inspected every possible home netwrok issue...i noticed it was more pc related.now i go to my device manager to check my network adapters..... there are NONE listed...i go to "View" to find that unhide all devices and note there are only wireless drivers in this device and NOT the typical "realtek-8111E" controller that SHOULD be listed.
So far...i have done these steps
1) ensured BIOS (my cmos is phoenix tianos build) lan settings are correct- done
2) Removed RAM from slots
3) Removed Cmos Battery
4) waited for 15 minutes.it is still not working ....a i even tried a clean install of win 7 and that doesnt work?

View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a Gigabyte motherboard that ive just installed into my dads new PC and the gigabit LAN has started taking 60 seconds to connect to router, very annoying...sitting with browser open waiting for it too connect... the issue seem to first appear during windows updates, i uninstalled device driver, rebooted and reinstalled the driver off disk... this sorted the issue.. THEN windows installed more updates, however these were nothing to do with networking (Office updates) and its back ...ive tried downloading the driver from gigabyte (newer) but still the problem persists...

I had to format my hard drive yesterday but the back up disc I have wasn't working, so I reinstalled Windows XP straight from an XP disc. I was missing a few drivers which I've managed to find. One of the devices showing as unknown was the Ethernet Controller, which was preventing me from being able to use the Internet. I managed to find myself the drivers for this "Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC". Now no devices are showing as unknown, all are showing as working and the below screenshot shows that apparently I'm connected (via ethernet cable), but for some reason the Internet isn't working.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIt's not on one device, and it doesn't matter if you are connected wirelessly or by cable. It also doesn't matter what internet browser you use. I would guesstimate that every 5-15 mins the dsl broadband just gives and all internet goes down for probably 1-3 mins at a time.I honestly have no idea. I'm using a 2Wire, just what AT&T gave me. I'm guessing it's either the dsl filter, or the actually router itself, i'm just not sure how to go about troubleshooting and figuring out the root of the problem.

1. instal avast anti-virus (which I have since uninstalled)
2. connected my iphone 4 to my computer (perhaps for the first time)
There is no problem with the actual internet connection and there are no other problems with my computer.
My wireless network connection appears to be working; I can access the Internet from my laptop, iPad, iPhone, but not from the Dell PC that is the 'host' computer. Local Area Connection 2 Status window shows it as working, when I try to repair it, I get hung up with an error msg:

I just got a dir-655 revb, and it does not connect to the internet. I have DSL, and the old router works fine with PPPoE, when I configure my dir-655b router, it can not connect to the internet. I get the flowing error:

Problem:Yesterday, I installed VMware Player and XP Mode to play a legacy game; also, some Automatic Windows Updates were applied.
After the Windows Update's all done, it prompted me to restart every 10 or 15 minutes, even after I chose Postpone 4 Hours every time. Probably one hour after, I closed VMware Player and restarted Windows.
Later, I found my Internet didn't work anymore.
Troubleshooting Attempts:I had already did the ip stack reset, removed VMware Player, restarted the wireless router, restarted WiFi, reenable WiFi adapter, reinstalled Wireless driver with latest driver, System Restore to the day before (System Restore said it didn't work, but Windows reboot said it has been restored), disabled the Internet sharing (I didn't turn it on, I guess some program like VMware did it), removed Stored Wireless Network Profiles and added later.Windows 7's network troubleshooting found no problem.
Current Situation:The home wireless network is working properly for sure, because both my phone and others' laptops connect to the same WiFi and work properly.I installed Ubuntu 12 on this same laptop and connected to same WiFi to go online.WiFi is shown to be connected and working. I can ping and connect to the wireless router (192.168.2.1), but unable to go to any website.
