How To Open Nas Box To Customers

Apr 30, 2012

How to make Nas Box accessible by his customers so that they can upload large files to it rather than rely on posting these to him (e.g. on CDs/DVDs).He has the Nas Box for his own use and ideally would like to link it through his business website so that a customer can go there and upload files. Another option seems to be opening the network to his customers as well but I'm not sure about how to approach either of these options.

Wireless Access For Business Customers

Aug 22, 2011

I do alot with computers themselves, but, my networking skills are rusty and lacking....so, I'm hoping this is a simple one!I have a customer with a medium sized network (about 20 desktop computers) that are setup with a Domain. The business is a car dealership and he wants to be able to offer wireless to the folks that are waiting (but not give them access to the network, printers, server).I've never setup a wireless network where access to only the internet and not the network itself is the goal, so I'm not sure how to do it properly. Is there an easy way to explain how I should be hooking it up? Or will the network information, type of router, etc. be necessary?

Cisco WAN :: ASA5510 VRF-Lite Two Customers Same Subnet

Apr 6, 2012

We want to deploy a NMS (Network Monitoring System), in this case SolarWinds, to monitor devices we have deployed at the customer site. We will make an IP VPN connection (ASA5510 with Cisco 800's) to the customer site. We have one primary NMS installation running in our datacenter. This NMS has to have a connection to all customer sites. We run into a problem when two customers use the same subnet. We want to use VRF-Lite to solve this problem but I am stuck in my design.

I have attached "VRF.jpg" to show the (basic) design I have made. The connection from customer to the router in the datacenter is not a problem. We can put the fa0.1 and vpn interface in the same VRF group. Via one physical cable we will go from router to NMS in which the NMS has multiple virtual interfaces. The datacenter router will route between the 192.168.x.x (NMS) and 10.1.1.x (Customer). What I can't seem to comprehend is how the NMS can decide how to get to Customer 1 or Customer 2. The customer can reach the NMS one-way but the NMS has no way to reply back because if it replies to 10.1.1.1 it can either use interface fa0.1 or interface fa0.2.

Cisco Firewall :: 5525 - Upgrades From 8.2 To 8.6 For Some Customers

Nov 13, 2012

We have a 5525 that has not been deployed to production yet so we're using it in the lab.  I want to lab some upgrades from 8.2 to 8.6 for some customers but the 5525 comes loaded with 8.6.  Would there be any problem with reimaging the 5525 with 8.2?  I'm just not sure if there would be an issue with this new hardware running that old software.

Cisco VPN :: ASA 8.4 - Access Citrix Applications On Customers Server?

Actually, this is the same error message when we try to use ssh protocol. I'm pretty sure I have loaded all the plugins for this. All the other functionalists are ok for this equipment.

Certain Sites Won't Open?

Apr 3, 2012

For a few weeks now, I couldn't open any long links on Twitter. I can only open short links which can be highlighted, then right-click and "switch to 'website'". For example, I can open this link, because it's short enough to highlight the whole thing and then rightclick:It opens like that because it directly goes to that website without going through the shortened link first. When there's a long link like this one it won't open, just bring me to a page which says:"Oops, Google Chrome couldn't find t.co"This was mainly on Twitter, but now I found out that none of the shortened links like bit.ly, etc work either.

We already have wired network and some access points. Today one addition wireless access point (wireless router) is purchased. I'm confused how to start off though I know to configure after I read some articles(disable DHCP, and give lan ip) . In the router, it is written 192.168.1.1, id : admin, pass : admin. We already have router with 192.168.1.1 so if I type 192.168.1.1 , it opens the page of that router. How to open the new router page?

IPCONFIG shows valid IP addresses, DNS and gateway. Firewall/AV is off. It connects fine via wire. AND it connects with no security on the router. The router is a Cisco E3000. The laptop is an HP.

Cannot Open IE Or Internet Options

Jan 21, 2012

I brought a friend's computer home, thinking I could solve her problem but I'm at my wit's end. I cannot open Internet Explorer and Internet Options does not open from Control Panel. I followed other suggestions I found on your forum and on the net but nothing works. I cannot access the internet in any way (on that computer) and therefore cannot even supply you with a HiJack file. I tried several restore points and the only malware pgm on that computer is MalmareBytes (which found nothing). I cannot even run a anti-virus scan because that is no longer running - which is the reason I brougth her computer to my house in the first place. After several attempts of trying to open IE some times it stays open for a few seconds but most times it just flashes, then closes.

No Ports Seem To Open Up According To Routers GUI

Apr 6, 2012

No ports seem to open up when they are supposed to be open according to the routers GUI.When i use "port checker"-websites, they even say that port 80 is closed until i actively open it in the router, then it shows up as open. This however only applies to port 80, no other ports shows as open OR allow any traffic through. The same thing happens when the router is in DMZ.What I have done so far is google my butt off without any results, I have tried a new router, a new network card, formated, re-installed windows and made sure that my ISP is not blocking the ports that i have tried to open.My purpose of opening a port is to run a mumble server, which I have run on a Hamachi VPN so far, and that has worked fine.

Multistory Building LAN Using Open It?

May 10, 2012

This lab teaches the application performance of two different networkarchitectures: Daisy Chain and Collapsed Backbone Network. The bookshows a collapsed backbone data network in which there is a core switch inthe basement equipment room. The core switch is linked directly to aworkgroup switch on each floor. Another option is to link the switches in adaisy chain. In this approach, the basement core switch is linked directly tothe first floor switch, the first floor switch is linked directly to the second floorswitch, and so forth. This lab shows the application latency introduced by connecting buildingswitches in different ways.

OverviewOperations building has 10 floors, each havingmany users connected to a 10Base-T workgroup switch in the telecommunications closet. The users share an Oracle server and seven fileand print servers in the basement. In Scenario 1, the switches on each floor are daisy chained to the core switchin the basement. We will see that this daisy chain approach introduces highapplication latency to users on the highest floor. In Scenario 2, the daisy chain topology is retained, but the core switch ismoved to the fifth floor. We will see that this reduces latency on the highestfloor but increases it on the bottom floor. In Scenario 3, the core switch is kept in the basement, but ollapsedbackbonetopology is used, in which the core switch in the basement is linked directly to the workgroup switch on each floor.

Several users are connected to a switch on each of the 10 floors. The share an Oracle server and 7 File, Print, and Email servers in the basement. The users on different floors are running a 2 Tier Oracle application. We willstudy the performance of this application. And showed me the error message in pictures (3) I asked the doctor and she told me to change the Switch name (located in the red box in picture) but still error constant I think the error is due to the type of Switch (core switch) or the type of link between the (core switch) and (7 File Print & Email Ervers)

Set Up Secure NAS With Two Networks And One Of Them Open?

Jul 8, 2012

One project I want to do is get them a network storage drive (Except, due to budget reasons, all I get is the 1Tb external they've had for a year now, and a NAS adapter). I can set up the NAS no problem, but here is the catch. From the ISP we have a B/G Router/Modem combo, and for range, we have a d-link B/G/N router.

I would like to have the ISP's G network open to cover our lobby for free access, and have the D-Link's N to cover the far offices, WITH access to the files. Now the issue, how do I set up the D-Link router, to only share the NAS files with devices conected directly to it.

Can't Seem To Open Port For Camera

Dec 10, 2012

I have an IP camera (foscam). It's connected to my wireless router. My router is connected to my motorola cable modem. My isp is Cox.I want to be able to view this camera from outside (ie: when I'm at work) by going to http://(my real ip) : (port). Port that I use is 88. I can't seem to do this.

First I set the port 88 to the camera's config. I can see the camera when I'm at home (going to 192.168.1.106:88). Reading the manual, I need to forward the port 88. So I go to my linksys wireless router 192.168.1.1 and single-port forward 88 UDP TCP (both) to 192.168.1.106.This doesn't solve the problem.I go to Open Port Check Tool and put in port 88 and it says I could not see your service on (my real ip) on port (88)

See The Files From Open Computer On Another?

Jun 25, 2011

I have a netbook or laptop or whatever those small computers are called which I use as a server (it just sits there with the lid closed all the time answering website requests). It generates logs but I absolutely hate laptops and can't stand them, not only is using a touchpad an experience from pure hell, but it's absolutely impossible to find buttons like home, end, page up, page down, so I can't manage to use it 5 seconds without wanting to smash it to powder.I know a lot about computers and programming but NOTHING about networking. Both the laptop or whatever it's called and my personal desktop PC are connected to the same router. Is there any way I can access the log folder on the server from my personal computer so I have a proper mouse and keyboard to work with?
