I have a ventilation controller that connects using a phone line. I have do not have a second phone line to dial out with my computer. is there a way i could set up dialing via broadband?

I can get onto the internet via a DSL connection, but it will not make a connection when I have a telehone line inserted in the phone line jack. The IPS service provider said to plug the computer directly into the phone jack without using the splitter which is a plug that has two openings(1 for phone and 1 for the computer in the event that the splitter is bad) I tried this and as soon as a connection is made about a minute later I'm disconnected again. I have a dlink DWA130 wireless N adapter connected and working. But AOL Dialup takes over. When disconnecting the phone line for AOL, there is no internet connection. The adapter is connected and has great signal strength. What can I do to make the wireless adapter work independently from AOL dialup?

I has been told in the past that all I had to do was buy a wireless router and plug it into the phone line. But today I called both Radio Shack and Office Max and asked if you could hook up a wireless router to dialup and both places told me absolutely not because dialup was too slow.
