Jun 1, 2012I have a wireless network (cable modem and router) set up in my home, which all of my devices are able to connect to the internet just fine, all but two; one is a netbook and the other is a desktop. The netbook has a wireless card built in, and the desktop has usb wireless card. Both of devices are running xp (both are the only compters in my home ran on xp), and these are the only two devices that will not connect to the internet wirelessly, except for when the wireless is unsecure these two devices connect fine, but once I enable a password these two devices say connected with an excellent signal strength, but once I open up the brower no web page comes up (just a message saying server not found). These two computers are able to install automatic program updates from over the internet, but still no web page will come up.

Jan 27, 2013My ISP is RDS (Romanian Data Systems) and if i have there cable connected directly to my laptop, i have download speed of 11 MB/s, but if i connect through a router my download speed is just 10% of that. I made a trace and saw that it took 11 points to reach google.com (when i'm connected directly) and 12 when i go through the router. They most certanly cut the band when the ping/trace has a difference of 1 point. They probably do this to preserve the band limits. How can i connect through a router and make the system think i'm connected directly ? So that i can have the same band that i pay for, not just 10% of it?My router is : TP-LINK 300M Wireless N Router Model No. TL-WR941ND . Now i know that in order to make this bypass i can install the Linux version of the router, but i don't know the steps in order to do that.

Nov 14, 2012ACS 5.3 configured with two rules, 1 rule for standard level 15 access for the Network Engineers and a 2nd rule to allow some limited access to switches: The limited access account has enough command set access to change the vlan on a switchport, so Configure Terminal, Interface FAx/x and switchport access vlan x.
Switch configuration:
aaa authentication login default group tacacs+ local
aaa authentication enable default group tacacs+ enable
aaa authorization console
aaa authorization config-commands
aaa authorization exec default group tacacs+ local
aaa authorization commands 0 default group tacacs+ local
aaa authorization commands 1 default group tacacs+ local

aaa session-id common
Everything works well and the limited access users can only perform the commands i've setup.
Problem:The problem i've encountered is when one of the network engineers makes a change that would stop the device from being able to see the ACS server it stops allowing any commands to be typed in the router/switch. Additionally if you then connect to the device and login with the local username and password the device then waits for it to hit the TACACS server timeout for every command you enter. This is obviously very slow and painful for the engineer.
Question:Is there a way to set this up so the engineer logging in with full Level 15 access doesn't have to have each command authorized by the ACS server but still allow the limited access accounts to be able to make interface changes?

Jan 11, 2013I would like to be able to limit a group of users to certain sites but am encountering problems. I logged into the Cisco EPC3925 config menu, clicked on Access Restrictions and, under Basic Rules modified the '1.
Default' rule as follows:
I enabled Parental Control
Key word List: anonymizer (came up by default)
Blocked Domain List: *.*
Allowed Domain List: a list of domains, eg [URL]
On the tab User Setup I have the following:
'1. Default': no enabled
'2. User': Enabled, Content Rule: '1. Default'
'3. su': Trusted User: Enabled
When I log onto a website I am presented with a prompt asking me for username and password. I enter the credentials of '2. User' and proceed to a screen that tells me that I am logged in. My problem is that this user is able to surf to any website and not only to those in the allowed list.The firmware of my EPC is epc3925-ESIP-16-v302r125533-110811c.

Oct 30, 2011I'm having problems with the access restrictions feature on the WRT600N. I do have the latest firmware upgrade, which was released in 2008 I believe. Anyways whenever I totally block a PC from the internet either by MAC or by IP, it affects the internet on the rest of the house. Logins to sites do not work right. Logouts from do not work right. Different features of different sites will not work properly. There also will be a lag sometimes when entering the url for a new site. But as soon as I turn the access restriction off, everything goes immediately back to how it should be working.

When testing the setup the local computer with the VPN Client connects to the dedicated services it has access to behind the ASA, and the local computer can ping any computer on the local LAN and it can also access the internet and webpages on the local network
But the supplier complaints that he cannot run a local Navision session on the remote computer while connected to the VPN tunnel. I am not able to run a test that mirrors this.
I have followed the descriptions in document ID: 70917 in setting up the split tunneling, and as far as I can see, the setup works. But is there any restrictions laid on the local computer running the VPN Client in what services on the local network it can connect to?

Sep 14, 2011I want to set up access restrictions to one MAC address (my kid's machine) basing on week days. From Su to Th allow less access time while during Fr-Sa afternoons access time should be longer. The question is how to program it in router. I know I can set rules with "allow" and "disable" keyword, but I don't know rules preference. When I set (Su-Th 6-21) allowed access time then router automatically denies defined machine internet access outside this time range. The problem is in the power of thus calculated denying time. I want to allow more access time in weekend, so I hoped if I can simply add "Fr-Sa 6-22:30 allowed access time" rule. I hoped that router will regard explicitly set time over inexplicitly set time but it appears it is not so. What are their preferences/priorieties, iis it possible to stack more rules affecting one MAC address or it is so simple that the first rule "rulez"? Is it possible to set more than one time rule affecting the one machine?

I did. I got the E1200 v2 recently, however, after I installed the CD and found there is no "access restrictions" tab, instead the "access policy" is still there. by the way the firmware is 2.0.02 now. How to get the "access restrictions" from setup? I've chatted with cisco support person twice again, but nobody can fix the problem, one suggested to restart and reinstall the CD. I uninstalled the software, restarted the computer and reinstalled the CD. same problem, no tab of "access restrictions".

Oct 25, 2011we have two servers in our network, one functions as a file server (windows server 2008) and the other as a domain controller with active directory and some database applications running on it (windows SBS 2003). the file server has folders for the different units in our company, these are shared folders. these folders can be accessed by anyone with a domain login by running \servername from their computers, without any further authentication required.
i have tried to set up sharing restrictions with no success, for example the Accounts folder, i right click on it and select properties, and the sharing or security. under both tabs i added three names of those that i want to have access to the folder. these names appear in the sharing list together with:administrator(servernameadministrator) administrators (servernameadministrators) administrator systemeveryone has not been added as is the case with all other folders. what is this system on the list? how i can restrict access, perhaps there is a setting that i have missed or settings in the network that prevent these restrictions?
