we are trying to restore an ACS SE backup into an ACS Windows but we get the message error: "The backup file selected is either not a Cisco Secure V4.2 backup file or it has been corrupted". The version/patch level is the same in both 4.2(0.124). I think that is possible (restore SE in W2000), isn't it?.

I bought a usb printer server to connect my usb printer to my router. USB cable to the print server and cat 5 from the print server to the router. The print server has a static fixed ip of 169.254.10.10 and a subnet mask of 255.255.0.0 I can ping the printer server and it works perfect from my windows 7 laptop. When I attempt to set it up on my windows xp (SP3) laptop I am not even able to ping the 169.254.10.10 address. On the windows 7 laptop i can navigate to the print servers menu by placing 169.254.10.10 in the address bar of internet explorer. No so with the xp laptop. What is different about the ip configuration between win xp and win7. how to get the xp laptop to "see" the print server. Want to keep the print server at the default settings if possible.

My IP adress has always been external. About 2 years ago, after reinstalling my windows,(I am using and used before reinstalling windows7) my IP adress started to work as it wouldn't be external. I couldn't host servers and stuff like that anymore.I tried turning off firewall, few other tricks but nothing changed. When I look information about my IP adress ,most of the sites see it as external. Also, when I call my interned providers, they tell me that they see my adress as external.
Some details :
-Internet is provided by a cable (not using telephone, TV or something else from those internet dealers)
-I am alone using this internet, no one else is connected to it.

I have been experiencing fluctuating IP address problems with my pc having windows 7. I've even switched off bonjour and firewalls. In some case it connects to the net but if I disconnect the LAN wire and try to connect to the internet again,I find no connection.
What can be the problem with windows 7,whereas it is fine with my other pc with windows xp in it,thereby indicating that my modem is working fine. MY drivers are also working fine.

I've got a wireless network, consisting of two Windows 7 PCs, a wireless printer, an Android tablet and an iPhone. The PCs are always on the network; the other devices only connect occasionally. The router is a Dynamode R-ADSL-C4-W-G1. IP addresses are assigned by DHCP, and both PCs are set up to get an IP address automatically. Now and again, I get an error message on my PC, saying Windows has detected an IP address conflict on the network. I looked in the System Event Log, and found the following message: Quote:The system detected an address conflict for IP address 10.0.0.3 with the system having network hardware address [hex number here]. Network operations on this system may be disrupted as a result.
When I checked in the router settings, I found 10.0.0.3 had been assigned to the other PC, which also has the hardware address given in the error message - I'm not sure how that constitutes a conflict! When I get this error message, I never encounter any connectivity problems - i.e. both machines can still access the internet.

how to reset IP address for Win 7 and it takes you to a XP dialog box...my problem is when I try to connect wirelessly I get the old ''Limited Access'' and not connected in the status box. And the wireless connection utility shows my old IP address as autoconfigured to IPv4 169.xxx.xx whereas it should be 192.xxx.xxx.x the 169 number was for a connection I had security on but that company went out of business and now I have an Alfa usb hi-gain antenna that picks up my work place that I can share a connection to but it keeps going back to my old IP address and when I go to the star>control panel>internet connection> connections tab all I have is the LAN. At this point I am having to use a Virgin Mobile usb dongle to go on line and it is as about as good as dial-up slow as Christmas in August...and would like to connect to the linksys at work which I show 4-5 bars in signal strength...

I have been having router/wireless internet issues since my internet provider had to come out and fix the outside lines. Ever since then I get the Network Error: "Windows has detected and IP address conflict" whenever my laptop and my wife's try to use the wireless at the same time. I have tried release/renew of my IP address and also reseting my router to factory settings to no avail.

There are about 3 laptops, one desktop, and 2 gaming consoles that are using the router. Everything connects fine expect the one laptop. It is an ASUS laptop running Windows 7. Whenever the laptop is going to connect to the internet every other device using the internet is stalled for a few moments, then reconnects. The computers then give the IP Address Conflict message. This is extremely frustrating. Sometimes it happens when people are accessing the Web for college assignments, and sometimes gaming, which is annoying to get disconnected from. I have tried to release / renew the IP, but it tells me it can't complete the process.

my WLAN works usually fine but I noticed in one public(Hot spot) place, I was able to connect the router but no IP address was assigned. it is a laptop and it is working in other public Hot spot places. Is it anything to do with the settings or it is that specific place that has problem. my IP address setting is in DHCP and automatically is assigned.

I have recently started getting random 'Windows System Error- There is an IP conflict' blah blah blah messages on my PC, this only seems to happen when I also have the wireless switched on on my HTC Desire phone.I have done the usual checks and everything in the house, that is connecting to the wireless (2 phones and a laptop) is on a different IP address so as far as I can see there is no actual conflict.I have a Netgear WPN824v2 Router with the main PC connected to it. Sometimes it goes for ages without doing it or I can get one after the other, sometimes the PC drops it's internet connection altogether.

My Dell was running very slow, so I used the disks that came with the computer to reinstall Windows XP. After doing this, it wasn't detecting our wireless network. I went through on the drivers disk and installed the drivers in order according to Dell's specifications. It still wouldn't work, so I went to the dell website from another computer, and downloaded the drivers that pertained to the network. Now it is recognizing the network, I was able to enter my key, but it won't stop "acquiring network address". When I do the ipconfig /all, it looks like there is no IP address:
Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]

C:Documents and SettingsUser>ipconfig /all

I am a Rogers Customer (Canadian isp) whch uses DHCP IP address. My set up is like so: SMCD3GN2 Modem with gateway and wireless mode disabled. (i'm using it as a pure modem) 2 of its 4 ports are active, one is connected to my pc directly and the other is conencted to a d-link router. The router is connected to 4 other pc's + some wireless devices. What I want to do is change my IP address ( the pc with the direct connection ) in windows 7. I can effectively do this by simply shutting the modem off for about 30 seconds. Luckily my isp pretty much continuously assigns me a new IP address every time I do this.
The issue is I don't want to disrupt my entire network ( the router ) With windows XP I used to be able to go into cmd and ipconfig/release, then go to my ipv4 settings and set a custom spam ip address/subnet and then go back to automatic and then ipconfig/renew and voila I would have a new IP address. With windows 7 I have no luck. I have tried spoofing/changing my mac address of my network card/adapter and it results in my modem not assigning me an IP address. Is there any efficient way to change my DHCP IP address in windows 7 without disrupting my entire network?

I can sign on with all tools (i.e. phone, PC, etc.), but for whatever reason, I am having issues connecting my laptop. I'm running Windows 7 on a newer laptop. I tried changing the password and it worked for a minute, but now that's not doing the trick. It keeps telling me it doesn't have a valid IP address.
