my WLAN works usually fine but I noticed in one public(Hot spot) place, I was able to connect the router but no IP address was assigned. it is a laptop and it is working in other public Hot spot places. Is it anything to do with the settings or it is that specific place that has problem. my IP address setting is in DHCP and automatically is assigned.
View 1 RepliesI recently purchased a Wi-Fi repeater (Siemens Gigaset Repeater WLAN SE365) to boost my wi-fi signal throughout my house without having to drill through walls of concrete (with a boost in phone wi-fi in mind on the top floor of the house). I was advised to buy one specifically with the make and model of my router in mind, as connectivity might be an issue if these don't match up. I own a Siemens Gigaset SX55 router so there should be no issue there (I can use the repeater on 2 different frequencies, not sure which one is best, 2.4 or 5 ghz). The instruction manual told me to connect the repeater to my pc once (through use of an Ethernet-cable supplied) so I could alter the settings of the repeater to match with that of my router (same SSID, protection method, channel). Whereas naming it the same as the router by modifying the SSID and using the same ASCII WEP-protection password as the router were doable, I could not find an option to change a channel.
At this point the instruction manual was fresh out of ideas and told me that I had set up the repeater as it should be installed. After unplugging it from my pc and plugging the regular ethernet cable back in for internet (There is wi-fi coming from the router downstairs but also a cable through the house to the pc) I was ready to go and seeing the wi-fi bars on my phone jump up to maximum made me extremely happy. Unfortunately the phone (and the app Wifi Analyzer) did recognize the full signal but when trying to open sites or apps that use internet it responded as if it had no signal whatsoever
I recently setup a 2504 WLC that has two primary WLANs (internal and guest) which get their IP addresses from a central DHCP server using the local router's broadcast forwarding. Things seem to be working well for the internal wlan, but clients on the guest wlan don't seem to be getting IP addresses. If I give the client a static IP they are able to communicate across the wlan okay.
It is worth noting that I am using LAG between the controller and router and this guest wlan is really just a regular wlan (with PSK) that has an access-list applied to force it to the internet only. The access-list should be allowing dhcp requests through, but in any case, I removed the access-list and it made no difference.
Here is a debug client for a machine connected to the guest vlan (vlan 33). The internal wlan is on the 10.10.10.0/24 network (same as wired and same that the AP's are connected to) and the guest wlan is 10.33.0.0/16. I don't understand why I am seeing the dhcp request come from the internal vlan/ wlan first and it gets an IP address on this network. I then see a request on the guest wlan/vlan at which point it appears to get a valid IP address on the guest network (10.33.0.0), but the client never sees this. [code]

I tried from the device managger on the usuall way, i tried from regedit and i also tried with mac changer programms.
In the regedit, the Network address changed, but when i type the "ipconfig /all" commant to the cmd it show me my default mac address.
I also tried to connect to the network witch use mac filter (that's, why i want to change my mac) , but i can't.

Both computers are connected to the router, as well as I've got no problems sharing files to my PS3 via media servers. But connecting the two computers is impossible. I've tried everything I can think of. I've tried connecting the two both using Homegroup services, and in the old fashion way, without the Homegroup service, using only IPv4.It seems like firewall settings and sharing in general works ok, but making it work over WLAN is very troublesome.

- I can confirm that the WLAN component is activated in BIOS. Actually, it worked just fine running Windows 7 until yesterday.
- After a clean Win8 install the missing component is enlisted as "Network Controller"
- Installing the "Dell Dell Wireless 1901 802.11a/b/g/n (2.4GHz and 5GHz) Dell Wireless 1901 Bluetooth" driver from your website (Network_Atheros_W8_A00_Setup-92GWH_ZPE.exe) didn't change anything,, the device is still missing its driver and thus not working.
- I tried to install the drivers coming with the driver CD for Windows 7. No change.
- I tried to install almost any driver on your web site related with WLAN, Vostro 3460 and Windows 8: no success.
I downloaded Windows 8 on the first day of it's public release. I have an Inspiron 1545 laptop. As soon as I installed W8, my wireless card stopped working. Is there any chance that W8 drivers will be released anytime soon? I am very dependent on my laptop and need to get it up and going again.

Everything is working now except the WiFi does not get on the web. I have a strong signal, and it says Connected, but also says "Limited Connectivity". Most functions work well. 4 wireless computers (1 Macbook, 3 Win 7), 1 wireless android, 1 wired Win7 computer, 1 ethernet connected hard drive, 1 ethernet connected printer. All computers can ping router, access hard drive, access internet, ping android and ping Macbook.However, router, nor any computer, can't ping Win7 computers. Apparently IP based connections between WinX computers is blocked. My real applications are to Remote Desktop Connect from 1 Win7 computer to another, or to run a DLNA music server on 1 Win7 computer, accessed by another. (the LAN connected computer is the server, accessed by a wLAN client. All worked fine on WRT54G router, but can't connect thru E4200. When these apps failed, I tried PING, and that failed as well.All computer's IP addresses are properly served from E4200 via DHCP, and are visible thru the router's DHCP Reservation panel.

Although the file implies that some 1395 cards may have 1500/1505 draft 802.11n capabilities. When looking at the driver details, it does not have any options or settings for 802.11n. Confusing. Since my computer is a number of years old, it may be that the wifi card is pre-cards with the 1500/1505 draft 802.11n capability.
My question is there an update driver for the 1395 mini-card that would allow the card to access my 802.11n router?
Is there a newer or compatible wifi card for the Inspirion 1525 (dell or otherwise) that can replace the 1395 mini-card so that I take advantage of my 802.11n router (Netgear N600 Dual Band Router) higher speed capabilities?
I have an XPS 8100 and have been very satisfied for the most part, but have had a persistent problem with the wireless card, the Atheros DW1525 WLAN PCIe Card. The wireless signal swings wildly between 3 bars and 5 bars - and the computer is close to the router. The card only weakly picks up other signals and it is often weak and spotty. I compared with my Dell Inspiron 13 (which has an Intel wireless N card), and it is literally 5x as fast on speed tests, picks up a lot of other signals, and is always 5 bars.
I tried to reinstall the Atheros drivers from the Dell support site, and that seemed to do the trick for a while.... the card was picking up as many signals as my notebook and at the same strength and speed. But after a Windows Update, the problem returned. I tried to reinstall the drivers again but got blue screen errors when I attempted to install Atheros' drivers... I spoke to a Dell tech, did a full factory image restore, and while I'm not getting blue screens now, the signal continues to be weak and spotty. I have Windows 7 64 bit..
I installed W8 on my Dell Studio 1735 computer. Wireless Internet access is very very slow. I have not this problem with W7 on the same computer. I tried it with an external Network cable. Very fast, 50mbps. I also tried it with an external USB Belkin wifi adaptor. It works fine. Computer has a Dell Wireless 1500 N WLAN Mini Card. Driver version:5.100.245.20 Date 2012-03-13. I cannot find any better driver.
I have one more problem that I don't have with W7. I cannot rate the computer. The Windows experience index cannot go past the test of Direct3D 10 Texture Load Assesment.

I have a Dell Latitude E6410 and the driver from Microsoft worked for the most part but I was having issues connecting to my Windows phone 8 device (Nokia 920). First I though it was my phone but when I tried other devices like my Surface I could connect with no problem. I am also running Windows 7 32 bit, when I boot up that OS I had no issues connecting to my phone. I also had issues with stable connections to my 5Ghz Wi-Fi access point. Well if any of these symptoms sound like something that you been going through then check this driver out. I used the 43224AGN 802.11 a/b/g/n 2x2 driver and now everything seems to work.

Imagine my surprise that I can't connect to my wireless connection unless I am less than 10 feet away from the AT& T wireless router. There are 3 computers 1 floor up and 30 feet away that can connect, so I know it isn't that the signal isn't strong enough. My Inspiron 9300 that I have had since 2005 can connect and I am using it right now. Here's my specifics.

The new computer will hook up when extremely close to the router but it does lose the signal occasionally even though I am only 10 feet away.
I have a Linksys E1000 router. The macbook is getting great signal even out in the yard. The PC running Windows 7 and using an AE1000 wireless adapter is only getting 2 bars out of 5. I don't think there's any interference. I can't figure out why the signal strength is so poor.

I would prefer to connect the WLC Guest port to an ASA 5510 and the WLC Staff port to an internal 2960S switch. Will this work? I haven't setup a 2500 series controller previously.
I have several E4200 routers deployed in our library district. In one branch, we have been having sporadic problems with computers not being able to maintain a connection. Typically the computer will connect and then the connection will drop and Windows will display the yellow error triangle on the wifi signal strength display.I have swapped the router with another brand new E4200 with the latest firmware but am still having this problem.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought a usb printer server to connect my usb printer to my router. USB cable to the print server and cat 5 from the print server to the router. The print server has a static fixed ip of 169.254.10.10 and a subnet mask of 255.255.0.0 I can ping the printer server and it works perfect from my windows 7 laptop. When I attempt to set it up on my windows xp (SP3) laptop I am not even able to ping the 169.254.10.10 address. On the windows 7 laptop i can navigate to the print servers menu by placing 169.254.10.10 in the address bar of internet explorer. No so with the xp laptop.What is different about the ip configuration between win xp and win7. how to get the xp laptop to "see" the print server. Want to keep the print server at the default settings if possible.

About 2 years ago, after reinstalling my windows,(I am using and used before reinstalling windows7) my IP adress started to work as it wouldn't be external. I couldn't host servers and stuff like that anymore.I tried turning off firewall, few other tricks but nothing changed.When I look information about my IP adress ,most of the sites see it as external.Also, when I call my interned providers, they tell me that they see my adress as external.
Some details :
-Internet is provided by a cable (not using telephone, TV or something else from those internet dealers)
-I am alone using this internet, no one else is connected to it.
