View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Netgear WNR612 wireless router, which worked fine for a few weeks. Then something happened and I can't keep the connection anymore. It happened right after I used iTunes to update my iPhone, perhaps a coincidence, but I'm mentioning that just in case. Internet still works fine with ethernet cable straight from the computer, only the wireless connection doesn't work. This happened about a month ago and I haven't been at home much to fix the problem. I have turned off and unplugged everything for several days at a time while gone. I get a Network Error message saying, Windows has detected an IP address conflict. I have tried restoring the router back to factory settings and reinstalling the wireless card. I have tried changing the IP address settings both in the Network and Sharing Center and the router admin page. What I think I should do is change the IP address in Command Prompt, but when I type "ipconfig /release", it says "No operation can be performed on Wireless Network Connection 2 while it has its media disconnected" and the same for Local Area Connection. I don't understand what this means, because there is a wireless key in my keyboard and there is a white light (not orange) like there should be. Also in the Network and Sharing Center, I can see that the connections are enabled.

I tried to log a call with Dell as the machine is only 2 months old and someone remotely connected and said it was a software fault not hardware and they would charge me to resolve the issue. I found that hard to swallow so thought I would try here.

It seems that whenever I'm downloading anything or using the connection extensively I'll lose internet connection and the wireless icon in the bottom right hand corner of the screen will show an orange star to indicate that connections are available. However if I go to available networks I can immediately reconnect to the network I was on.
I have other notebooks that run on XP that do not have this issue and use the connection without a problem. Also when I connect my notebook directly to my belkin router via Ethernet cable the connection has issues. View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been experiencing fluctuating IP address problems with my pc having windows 7. I've even switched off bonjour and firewalls. In some case it connects to the net but if I disconnect the LAN wire and try to connect to the internet again,I find no connection.
What can be the problem with windows 7,whereas it is fine with my other pc with windows xp in it,thereby indicating that my modem is working fine. MY drivers are also working fine.
I've got a wireless network, consisting of two Windows 7 PCs, a wireless printer, an Android tablet and an iPhone. The PCs are always on the network; the other devices only connect occasionally. The router is a Dynamode R-ADSL-C4-W-G1. IP addresses are assigned by DHCP, and both PCs are set up to get an IP address automatically. Now and again, I get an error message on my PC, saying Windows has detected an IP address conflict on the network. I looked in the System Event Log, and found the following message: Quote:The system detected an address conflict for IP address 10.0.0.3 with the system having network hardware address [hex number here]. Network operations on this system may be disrupted as a result.
When I checked in the router settings, I found 10.0.0.3 had been assigned to the other PC, which also has the hardware address given in the error message - I'm not sure how that constitutes a conflict! When I get this error message, I never encounter any connectivity problems - i.e. both machines can still access the internet.
how to reset IP address for Win 7 and it takes you to a XP dialog box...my problem is when I try to connect wirelessly I get the old ''Limited Access'' and not connected in the status box. And the wireless connection utility shows my old IP address as autoconfigured to IPv4 169.xxx.xx whereas it should be 192.xxx.xxx.x the 169 number was for a connection I had security on but that company went out of business and now I have an Alfa usb hi-gain antenna that picks up my work place that I can share a connection to but it keeps going back to my old IP address and when I go to the star>control panel>internet connection> connections tab all I have is the LAN. At this point I am having to use a Virgin Mobile usb dongle to go on line and it is as about as good as dial-up slow as Christmas in August...and would like to connect to the linksys at work which I show 4-5 bars in signal strength...
