D-Link DIR-601 :: Wireless Connection Causes Ip-address Conflict
Jan 6, 2012
I am having issues with wireless connections with my laptop but I can connect with my phones and iPod, however wired connections work perfectly.
The moment I attempt a wireless connection I receive continuous error messages saying that there is an ip-address conflict with another system on the network and i lose all internet access.I have already tried adding a dhcp reservation?

This has been happening for a few months and I have had to reset the router every time and it usually works. I have 3 laptops, normally 2 are used and a roku streaming player connected to the tv. Both laptops are on windows 7 and sometimes the wifi suddenly stops working [sometimes only stops for some devices] even though i am still connected to the my router. Some times, a popup comes up that says that windows has detected an ip address conflict, so I think that that is the problem, but when I try to do ip/release, renew, it says that the media is disconnected to wireless network connection 2 even while i can access the internet.

When I sign on the internet, I get a Windows System Error - "There is an IP address conflict with another system on the network." I went to command prompt and typed "ipconfig /renew" but the response was "No operation can be performed on Local Area Connection while it has media disconnected".

I get a "IP address conflict" message on my wireless network. Using a WRVS4400n wireless router with the latest firmware that is set to PPoE. Motorola 336 dsl modem is set to bridge mode. My network has 2 computers attached: hardwire desktop and wireless connection to laptop. When I contacted ATT support, they said the problem is in the wireless modem. Are there some settings in the WRVS4400n that must be set to insure that each computer gets a different IP address?

Nothing seems to be able to connect to my wireless network. It seems to have occurred after I installed a new copy of windows 7 onto my sister's desktop. A message appeared saying we have the same ip address. I've tried renewing our ip address on both desktop but it won't give us new ip address for some reason.

I have a Netgear WNR612 wireless router, which worked fine for a few weeks. Then something happened and I can't keep the connection anymore. It happened right after I used iTunes to update my iPhone, perhaps a coincidence, but I'm mentioning that just in case. Internet still works fine with ethernet cable straight from the computer, only the wireless connection doesn't work. This happened about a month ago and I haven't been at home much to fix the problem. I have turned off and unplugged everything for several days at a time while gone. I get a Network Error message saying, Windows has detected an IP address conflict. I have tried restoring the router back to factory settings and reinstalling the wireless card. I have tried changing the IP address settings both in the Network and Sharing Center and the router admin page. What I think I should do is change the IP address in Command Prompt, but when I type "ipconfig /release", it says "No operation can be performed on Wireless Network Connection 2 while it has its media disconnected" and the same for Local Area Connection. I don't understand what this means, because there is a wireless key in my keyboard and there is a white light (not orange) like there should be. Also in the Network and Sharing Center, I can see that the connections are enabled.

I've got a wireless network, consisting of two Windows 7 PCs, a wireless printer, an Android tablet and an iPhone. The PCs are always on the network; the other devices only connect occasionally. The router is a Dynamode R-ADSL-C4-W-G1. IP addresses are assigned by DHCP, and both PCs are set up to get an IP address automatically. Now and again, I get an error message on my PC, saying Windows has detected an IP address conflict on the network. I looked in the System Event Log, and found the following message: Quote:The system detected an address conflict for IP address 10.0.0.3 with the system having network hardware address [hex number here]. Network operations on this system may be disrupted as a result.
When I checked in the router settings, I found 10.0.0.3 had been assigned to the other PC, which also has the hardware address given in the error message - I'm not sure how that constitutes a conflict! When I get this error message, I never encounter any connectivity problems - i.e. both machines can still access the internet.

I've been getting a popup error message for about a week:"There is an ip address conflict with aother system on the network". This is only for 2 desktop PCs with wired ethernet connections. Wireless devices are fine with no error message. The wired LAN PCs basically lose all network capability. Reboot fixed it, but it returned every time it was rebooted.I have a Virgin Media Superhub with another router configured as an access point. To cut a long story short, after trying to reset everything, re-installing network adapters & swapping ports, I decided to set the Superhub to Modem Mode, and re-configure the access point router to act as a standard wireless router. In other words renewing the whole network's LAN IP addresses.I now don't lose network capability, but the error message is still appearing on both wired LAN PCs. I use the Fing app on my android phone which lists IP addresses for all devices on the network, wired and wifi, and no 2 addresses are the same, which suggests that DNS is doing its job.

I have been having router/wireless internet issues since my internet provider had to come out and fix the outside lines. Ever since then I get the Network Error: "Windows has detected and IP address conflict" whenever my laptop and my wife's try to use the wireless at the same time. I have tried release/renew of my IP address and also reseting my router to factory settings to no avail.
Computer info and ipconfig/all:

OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium , 64 bit

There are about 3 laptops, one desktop, and 2 gaming consoles that are using the router. Everything connects fine expect the one laptop. It is an ASUS laptop running Windows 7. Whenever the laptop is going to connect to the internet every other device using the internet is stalled for a few moments, then reconnects. The computers then give the IP Address Conflict message. This is extremely frustrating. Sometimes it happens when people are accessing the Web for college assignments, and sometimes gaming, which is annoying to get disconnected from. I have tried to release / renew the IP, but it tells me it can't complete the process.

here where I work we are having an issue with IP Address conflicts. We are not sure exactly why, though. We have only had it happen 2-3 times so far, but this has been over the past week or so, and we would like to get it resolved. Here is what is happening: Last week we were getting an "IP Address conflict" message on one of our computers. It had received 192.168.3.112 from our DCHP server, so we switched it to a static IP address up beyond our DHCP range. We then tried pinging the address with the conflict, but got nothing. We figured it was some device that had a static address, so on the DHCP server we reserved it to a non-existent mac address so it wouldn't hand that one out again. This wasn't a problem, since it was an isolated incident.
Since then we have tried periodically pinging 192.168.3.112 to see if there is actually a device using that address, but have gotten no replies. Since then we have had another one or two times where this has happened, but with different IP addresses. We went around and checked a couple of different wireless routers that we had deployed, but the DHCP had been disabled on all of them (but then again, the issue came up just recently, while the routers have been out there for months).

I have recently started getting random 'Windows System Error- There is an IP conflict' blah blah blah messages on my PC, this only seems to happen when I also have the wireless switched on on my HTC Desire phone.I have done the usual checks and everything in the house, that is connecting to the wireless (2 phones and a laptop) is on a different IP address so as far as I can see there is no actual conflict.I have a Netgear WPN824v2 Router with the main PC connected to it. Sometimes it goes for ages without doing it or I can get one after the other, sometimes the PC drops it's internet connection altogether.

My neighbour n myself are using a shared internet connection. The modem is situated in his house and I have connected to that modem using a LAN cable, which comes to my house. That LAN cable goes into my WiFi router (through which I use the internet connection). I use a Lap and my neighbour a Desktop, he's receiving a "IP address conflict error" in his system, due to which his internet connection is getting disrupted. If I don't use my Wifi router and connect directly through the LAN cable he does not face any problem. But I need my router back?

I have a Netgear DG834PN Router. Connected to it usually are 2-3 laptops (XP, Vista, 7) wirelessly, a Xbox 360 and Win 7 PC via cables, a wireless printer and often an iPod touch, however PS3s, mobile phones etc are connected occasionally.
It had been functionally normally.until we changed ISP after ours was taken over (we didn't change but the provider obviously now has). However, since then (1st Feb) we've been having connection issues, probably an IP address conflict where items can access the router but not the internet.
The iPod and Xbox sometimes don't connect, as do the laptops often after been powered up from a sleep. Yesterday, when powering up one of the laptops, I got an IP address conflict message. Restarting the router sometimes works, but mostly it allows one device on and not another.
The printer has a static IP address (192.168.0.4) that I had to set up to get it working, but this has been active for months now without issue. I've had a look in the router settings and it's set up for DHCP as default with IP addresses from 192.168.0.2 to 192.168.0.254 so I don't understand why it has this issue suddenly. I had a look at the connected devices list, and everything appeared to have its own IP address.

I have switch 2960 and router that connect with one interface to that switch. the link is trunk and Router function is inter vlan routing between 4 vlan. This netwrok has only one ip address space that is 10.10.2.0/24 and work without problem. We connect cisco switch 2960 with optic link to another switch that in stack 3750 which configured as trunk link and allowed only 3 vlan between them. In the other side netwrok which consist the switch 3750 we have different subnet ip address that switch working in layer 3 too. the problem is that when I permit vlan 210 in the switch 2960 only layer 2 between this switch and the 3750 in network that consist th ip address 10.10.2.0/24 devices, if I disconnect and then connect pc to network he says that he has ip conflict and in the log he show mac address of router that has vlan 210 subinterface configured with 10.10.2./24 subnet. But how I gibe back vlan 210 from permited vlan in trunk devices start normaly working. If I again put vlan 210 to permit vlan in that trunk devices again said that there are conflict ip address and show mac address vlan 210 router subinterface.

Hooked up this router the other day to replace my old Linksys G - which has been bulletproof for 8 years. I am now wondering if I made a mistake with this unit.
I set up DDNS - after much trial and error with dyndns it now works fine.I tried to set up NTP time function - does not work. Then I set time manually. Of course on reboot it looses the time since there is no internal time function. So I need NTP.In the course of troubleshooting I turned off DDNS and behold the NTP time function now works. I turn DDNS back on and NTP does not work.
I see no logical connection between these two functions, yet the seem to interact (or not) somehow. When the NTP is not working, on reboot the time displayed in the router is the last time that I MANUALLY set the time, even though that is grayed out since I have (supposedly) activated NTP.
If I do NOTHING to NTP and uncheck DDNS, after reboot the time is correct.I tried many different NTP servers all with the same result.Looking back on-line, I see the NTP function has been a continual problem with some folks (maybe those using DDNS?) in earlier firmware. Come on DLINK don't you think it's time to get this fixed?

I recently switched routers to the DIR-615 and I'm trying to troubleshoot why one of our laptops keeps losing the IP address and gets a self-assigned IP address. I see the following messages in the log, I am wondering if the reason codes are listed and explained somewhere? I tried searching the manual but could not find any information.

We’ve recently installed a 5508 w LAN controller for my organization wireless network and each time devices connect to this wireless network they receive an ip conflict error. All devices conflict with the ip address of IP address 0.0.0.0 with mac address 00-00-00-00-00-00.
All devices event viewer has this TCP error: “The system detected an address conflict for IP address 0.0.0.0 with the system having network hardware address 00-00-00-00-00-00. Network operations on this system may be disrupted as a result.” We previously experienced the same ip conflict with 12000 w LAN network that he had used as proof of concept.

I have a Belkin N Wireless Router Model F5D8236, which has served my laptop with wireless and my wifes desktop computer through a ethernet cable for the last year.Recently we had to move her computer to another room so I got a Usb Wireless adapterNow when I try to connect her desktop to the network it says the settings do not match, or when prompeted for the PSK, it says its wrong, even though I'm dead sure I put it in right.I've tried transferring a copy of the settings with a flash drive, I tried resetting the router a dozen times, and all the wp2 settings. The USB adapter works, because when I turn the security feature off on the router, suddenly it can connect to the network.

I'm attempting to connect multiple computers, laptops and printers to the same LAN. I currently have the switch daisy chained to the modem. I'm having issues with conflicting IP addresses and wireless access. I think I have to create static IP addresses but don't know which nor how.The hardware I'm seeking to have on one LAN:
- Netgear CGD24G Cable Modem from Time Warner
- Netgear GS116E un-managed switch
- iMac OSX 10.8.x
- Dell PC desktop, Windows 7
- Sony Vaio PC desktop, Windows XP
- Dell PC desktop, Windows XP
- Sony Vaio laptop, Windows 7 Pro
- MacAir OSX 10.8.x
- MacBook Pro OSX (not sure which OS version)
- HP JetDirect 300x Print Serve (hooked up to HP LaserJet 2300)
- Epson Artisan 835
- Netgear Universal Adapter for Home Entertainment (SAVB5004)
- Netgear Powerline 500 Nano
- Apple iPhones (4 of these)
- Apple iPad
Several of these can work wirelessly, though I prefer wired whenever possible.I have been getting IP address conflict notices as well as the wireless signal not being received on some of the wireless capable devices, which seems to be random but it could be that I just don't know enough to recognize a pattern. I believe the devices are all set to automatic assignment of IP addresses. What is the correct way to daisy chain the cable modem and switch? What is the correct protocol for assignment of IP addresses in order to avoid IP conflict? Why does my wireless drop on some of the wireless-capable devices (such as the iMac, MacAir or Sony laptop)?

I have tried the hardware manager and several drivers from around the world (all being the same). Again the adapter can see the internet and connect with my router but it will not pickup the IP address. How do I get the wireless adapter to see the IP address?
