View 1 Replies View RelatedI have 2 Windows 7 desktops that are both connected to seperate vonage boxes and those vonage boxes are connected to my D-Link DIR-655 router. That D-Link router is getting its connection from a Comcast router. I am looking to get one of the desktops to share a printer from the other one which has it hard wired via USB cable. When I first set this up I did not have the vonage boxes and the desktops were connected right into the router and everything worked fine. Now that the vonage boxes are in place it is a mess. I can get internet fine on both machines, but no file/printer sharing. I have followed all the steps to setup the correct workgroup and file and printer sharing options on both windows 7 machines but they cannot see each other at all. My feeling is that now that the vonage boxes are there that instead of the desktops looking at the D-Link router for its sharing option they are looking at the vonage boxes and that is why they cant be seen. Does this make sense? Is there a firewall on the vonage boxes stopping these two desktops from seeing each other? Do I have to change something on the D-Link router options for it to give access to the vonage boxes for these 2 machines to see each other for printer/file sharing?

TP-LINK WDR4300 750N Dual-Band router issue.
I started having a problem with a VONAGE V-Portal VoIP adapter losing connection to the Vonage server. I Unplugging the adapter and waiting doesn't solve the problem. The only way I can temporarily fix the issue is to reboot my TP-Link router. Once the router is rebooted the adapter can connect to Vonage. After a few hours it loses connection again. I have set the adapter to use a static IP outside of the DHCP reserved pool. This didn't fix the issue.
I have had vonage for many years and this router for the last 10 months and not had a problem until the past two weeks. Nothing only my local network changed. All of my PC's have no problems with internet access during the time that the Vonage adapter gets an Error 004 (lost connectivity). I still have connectivity with my ipod touch and other internet enabled devices as well. I was using 8.8.8.8 as my DNS server in the router DHCP configuration as well as the static value when I tried using a static IP with the V-Portal. I then switched all system to the ISP (Comcast) preferred DNS servers. The problem still exists. The only way to get the Vonage adapter back to running is to reboot the router.
I should mention I have Motorola Cable modem to a TP-LINK WDR4300 750N Dual-Band router. I have two Vonage vportal adapters plugged into the a couple of the LAN ports on the TP-LINK router. One vportal is my roommates, one is mine. Everything has been working fine for the last 6 months and now one or the other Vportal loses communication through the router, but the other vportal doesn't lose connectivity. It only happens to one of them and it varies as to which one will ERROR out.
1. Can you use a wireless printer with Vonage? If so, do I need to buy a router?
2. My wireless printer is an all-in-one printer (print, copy, fax, scan). With Vonage am I able to use the fax without getting a dedicated line. Presently, with my local phone company I just plug the phone line (line also has DSL) directly into the wireless printer. It is not a dedicated fax line.
3. How many extension phones in the house can Vonage cover or does the number of extension phones matter?

I'm a court reporter trying to set up a connection between my laptop and my court reporting machine, which has built in wifi capabilities. My court house has public wifi but there is always some interference which causes transmission between my laptop and machine to freeze. I was told I could create my "own wifi" between my machine and laptop if i bought a router. is this possible with this hardware?I don't need the internet or want an internet connection. I have the internal modem in my laptop. I just want to provide a connection between my laptop and writing machine wirelessly. That is, data being sent back and forth between the two. (Like your headset and smartphone connected with Buetooth). I can use the Bluetooth method to connect the two, but I opted for wireless connection because Bluetooth still can have some interference when attorneys come in the courthouse building with a Blackberry smartphone. I heard this router will provide a secured, private wifi connection between my laptop and machine. It doesn't say anywhere in the instructions that how to do this or I just don't know which method to use this router for what I want to do. Is it WISP, AP or BRIDGE, etc...?

I've searched and found many step-by-step guidesm kind of at my wit's end here.Right now when I connect wirelessly to the internet, it jumps on a connection labeled "linksys," which is my wireless router (BEFW11S4 ver. 4).
