Linksys Cable / DSL :: WAGN320N - Can't Set Secure Password

Sep 12, 2012

I've just bought and installed a WAGN320N router and I have identified two problems:

1 - The router actively prevents me from using non-alphanumeric characters in both the admin password and the shared folders passwords, however such passwords are more secure and in most other places recommended. How do I switch off this restriction so that I can set a secure password?

2 - The Filename Encoding on the Storage>Administration page can't be changed. I have changed the drop down box to "Western Europe/Latin1" several times and then clicked "save settings", but setting always flips straight back to "USA" after saving.

Cannot Obtain IP In Windows 7

Jan 12, 2011

I've recently reinstalled Windows 7 64 bit on a machine and it was working fantastic. I installed new parts including RAM, hard disk, disk drive, power supply. I rebooted the machine and everything was working perfectly. A few days later I booted and it no longer connects, regardless of being directly connected to the modem, the router, or using a wireless USB dongle purchased from a retail store. The NIC is set up to obtain IP's automatically but an ipconfig /renew gives an error and the built in troubleshooter just states that it can't obtain an IP.

Computer Cannot Obtain IP

Sep 19, 2012

In my home Ive got ADSL wifi router. Me and my brother have 2 computers ( 1 MSI , 1 DELL )There is a problem with obtaining IP addresses.When I connect to WIFI, it works with no problems ... I get IP 192.168.1.x ... But when my brother wants to join WIFI, he gets address 169....But sometimes it is working for him and somtimes not.We solve this problem with turn off and turn on wifi router. But there is still same problem, now my brother gets IP address 192.... and I get 169... so it looks like wifi can give only 1 IP but dhcp is configured for more IP ... We also have 1 desktop computer which is connected with ethernet cable and there is no problem with connection... only wireless problem.

Cannot Obtain Domain Controller Name

Jun 19, 2011

Type: Error

EventID: 1054

Description: Windows cannot obtain the domain controller name for your computer network. The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted. Group Policy processing aborted.

Dad's work laptop (XP) will no longer connect to any wifi at all. I removed the Intel PRO/set wireless utility so it would default to windows, enabled the Wireless Zero Config. It will acknowledge the network, attempt to get an IP address from the network for 1 minute, then it rotates down to the next network SSID in queue (I have 3 SSID's in our house). When it reaches the end, it just goes back to the "Windows is not connected to any wireless networks" message.

Obtain DNS Servers Address Automatically?

I coulden't visit any websites and it gave me an "error 105" something. So i tried connecting my other comp to the internet cabel with the same result. So i tried to find a solution on the web (wierless internet still worked) and stumbeld upon a similar problem were the answer was to manually fill in an adress in the "internet protocol version 4" properties in the "local area connection" properties. I then noticed that i dident have the "Obtain DNS server address" set to automatically and that the other manual boxes were empty. I then turned the auto on an i had access to internet. Is this safe? Cause i read somewere that DNS server addresess were provided by the company that provide you your internet service, and that you can be redericted to a fake website that can get a hold of your account information on it

D-Link DIR-655 :: Can't Obtain A DHCP Address For IP Phone

Jun 17, 2011

I have an Avaya IP Phone for work.  This has been tested at work and works as expected.  After the IP Phone boots it's able to obtain an IP address from work.  At home when I plug the IP phone into my DIR-655 router, it's unable to obtain an IP address.  Other network devices are able to obtain an IP address, for example any computer or laptop.  Also my wireless works with no issues expect for the IP phone.  I've already done some searching and found other users with the same issue but I haven't been able to find a solution other than setting a static IP address.  I'm curious why this relatively new router won't work with an IP phone.  I've played with some of the router settings but it didn't make a difference.  Any work around to get the DHCP to work?  I'm running the latest firmware for my router: 1.35A Hardware Versions: A4.

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA4500 Won't Obtain IP From ISP

May 12, 2012

My new EA4500 (fw ver 2.0.36) won't obtain an IP from a Brighthouse TM502G cable modem.  The EA4500 replaced a functioning WRT54G which would obtain an IP from the ISP.  I've tried upgrading firmware and have used both straight-through and crossover cables between the EA4500 & TM502G to no avail.  The EA4500 would issue IPs to it's clients, but not obtain one from it's TM502G.  At the moment, all 3 are daisy-chained together with the old WRT54G in the middle in order to make the EA4500 work.  Both WiFi and LAN ports function in this configuration.

Linksys Wireless Router :: EA6500 Won't Obtain Lease

Dec 20, 2012

Small company, under 10 computers, wired and wireless printers, straightforward network. Do not need (nor particularly want) Smart Wi-Fi, Cloud Connect, or or anything other than a simple manually-setup router. Have a new EA6500 I plan to use replacing an E1000 that is playing up (needs to be reset every morning) connecting to Verizon east (former GTE) aDSL. Connected the EA6500 to a laptop via ethernet, changed router password to same as E100, set up the two port forwards I'll need (IPs on the internal network are static in the 192.168.1.0/24 block), changed DHCP server to start at 101 (don't ask), leave Internet Connetion Type setting at "Automatic Configuration - DHCP" (same as E1000), shut down both routers and modem (Westell WireSpeed 890-210015-04). Connect EA6500 to modem, power up modem, power up router, and...Nothing. Does not receive external IP via DHCP.If I switch back to the E1000, it immediately picks up the IP lease.

Linksys Wireless Adapters :: WUSB600N - Can't Obtain IP Address

Jan 23, 2011

I've had the adapter for a while now, successfully running on XP SP3 with the linksys software.  I could see networks, connect to them with WPA security and get an IP address.  I recently tried uninstalling the software, then connecting the adapter to install only the drivers and let windows manage it.  Since then, I haven't been able to acquire an IP address.  It can see the SSID and connect to it, but continually tries to acquire an IP address.  I've tried this with different SSIDs at work and home...same result.  I've tried uninstalling the driver from device manager, but every time I restart and connect the adapter, windows recognizes the adapter.  I probably made matters worse by connecting another adapter to it, in an attempt to work around the problem.  That is a USB adapter, WUSB600N.  Tried the same thing, but continually tries to acquire an IP address.
