View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a CDMA compatible modem which connects to my Desktop PC via USB.it works fine, but I'd like to share my internet connection with another Laptop, Wirelessly via a Router. The router connects to my Pc via Lan cable. I activated Internet Connection Sharing in the properties of my modem and connected it to the Internet.I hoped my Router would detect an Internet connection on My network and would enable internet connectivity on My wireless AP on the Router. But it didnt. is that windows refelcts "internet access" on both the actual Wireless network on my Router ("49 network") , and on both the Physical Connection to my pc via the Ethernet port ("3G Router") my laptop connects to the router, but without access to the internet, and I keep getting an 'unable to resolve host' message in my Browser. Suspecting my Router of somehow causing the problem I also tried setting up an Ad hoc network instead (using my wlan card to interface with the Laptop directly). They connect fine, and my Printers and other shared resources all appear, but the wireless range between them is like bluetooth compared to the great range of my router.& I still cant manage to share an Internet connection between the two machines!
View 9 Replies View RelatedI moved to a new apartment and have to wait a month or even more to get my DSL internet, so I temporarily got myself a USB 3G device to have some access to the internet till I get my DSL line.
The USB acts as 3G modem for a single PC that's connected to it, what I want is to share that internet using my D-Link DIR-655 router so I'd be able to connect my iPhone and PS3 as well.
How to get that setup working as smoothly as possible would be great. DIR-655's default gateway is 192.168.0.1, and the auto DHCP range IIRC is 192.168.0.100 to 192.168.0.199.
i am setting up a windows server 2008 to be used as a nas on my bell modem network that my pc is also on. the bell modem is then connected to a dlink 655 router by lan on the bell modem to wan on the dlink. the dlink is used for wireless connections to the laptops in the house. my problem is that the laptops cant see my nas but have access to the internet. should i switch my program for the nas from windows server 2008 to something like free nas or can i change setting in my router and modam?

View 4 Replies View Relatedmy power supply was fried in a storm a while back so i swapped it with another power supply, but the power supply i put in is 20pin while my board is 24. the computer runs fine but i cant connect to the internet. im assuming the pci slots arent being powered so network card isnt working, or the network card is shot. regardless, no matter which port i plug an ethernet into it wont recognize its there. my laptop works fine but is terribly slow and not good for gaming. is there any possible way i could use my laptop to connect my desktop to the internet without an ethernet cable?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have two computers, a laptop and a desktop. Both are running Win7 64 bit.My laptop's wireless card went kabloom and I'm too broke to afford a wireless adapter for my laptop. So I have the next best thing, connect the desktop to the laptop and share my desktop's internet connection with. But of course, it's not that simple. The problem is that the laptop isn't able to connect to the internet. I have shared my desktop's internet to my laptop before using the same cable and everything and it used to work, but now it doesn't.Now comes the 'weird' part. I reversed the order, or I shared my laptop's wireless connection with my desktop. Although slow and choppy, it did work and I was able to access the internet from my desktop using a connection to my laptop with a cable.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Toshiba Win 7 laptop and a custom-built (JNCS) XP desktop. Both access the Internet thru a D-Link router. I would like to be able to access the working files on each computer from the other. I have changed the workgroup name on my Win 7 laptop to the same name as the workgroup on my XP desktop. I have gone thru the instructions Microsoft gives you, but they are FAR from clear because things don't happen or choices are not available that they reference.

I've recently bought a laptop with Windows 7 and would like to be able to connect to my existing home network which comprises 2 desktop PCs connected via a Dlink wireless N router which is acting as a WAP to my Billion non-wireless router (which the two desktop PCs are connected). ie the two desktops are connected via wire to the Billion. The DLink is just there to provide wireless for my laptop (and Ipod)
The first day I setup the new laptop it seemed to recognise the C drive and G drive on my desktop (which I had set to 'share'). i was able to do file transfers.
However, the next day, and since then, the C and G drives don't show up on when I click 'network' on my Laptop's Win Explorer... They did reappear once after I refreshed the Win Explorer several times, but that trick didn't work again
Internet is working fine on all computers. Just would like to be able to share files across the 3 machines...
I've experimented on the laptop with setting as 'public', 'home' and 'work' but didn't have any luck.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to share my existing wireless connection over a WAP54G with the latest firmware, on Windows 7 on a laptop. Basically, the laptop is getting a wireless connection from my Sprint Card, but I need to share a wi-fi connection with an iPod I'll be using to validate tickets. Unfortunately, there is no option to share the wireless connection when I click on the Properties for the connection. When I put in my WiFi settings, the iPod is able to login to the AP, but it cannot obtain an IP. It keeps doing this. Same thing happens with my Samsung Epic which runs Android. I can access the AP manager, and can configure it. Have tried using no security, but still no dice. Even turned off the firewall.
I can surf the internet on the laptop, but I simply can't share the connection with the AP. This is really important as I'm trying to get it setup by next weekend!
