View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having problems connecting to the internet. It has never done this and just started a week ago. I contacted my ISP and they told me it is not the modems fault. I have a modem and then it goes to a Trendnet 100mpbs Ethernet Switch. Then it goes to my primary computer and then to my laptop. They are all hard-wires. I contacted Acer and they said it wasn't a problem with the computer. When I look at the control panel it says "Unidentified Network" and has no other information than that. I already attempted to manually put in the IP I should be receiving from the modem, but that did not work either.

I can only seem to get my laptop on the internet while the wireless router is connected to the modem and then either connecting wirelessly or by connecting my laptop to the wireless router with an ethernet cable.I want to connect to the internet without my wireless router, because someone was hacking our router and was apparently doing illegal downloads. We got a cease and desist letter that said our internet will be terminated if it happens again, so I want to connect to the internet without any wireless connections being set up.

I took the cable connector from the back of my PC and put it into the port of the Dell, hoping that that would be sufficient. However, it doesn't connect. The gubbins that is displayed for the local area connection status says something about 80 packets sent and only 8 received.

We have fast internet (ADSL2 i think) but running through the router, it's very slow. So i was wondering if i could somehow make my laptop a modem? Whenever I connect my laptop to my home network and try to use the web browser, I get a message from my modem that says that my laptop has been blocked by parental controls and cannot access web browsing. However, this is incorrect, my laptop has full access with parental control restrictions. This only happens when I try to use the web browserWhen I use a third party application such as Windows Mail it works fine.

I just upgraded to a faster internet speed with my cable company, and so they came and installed a new combination modem/ wireless router yesterday. Since then my computer has said that it is connected to the internet but when I try to load pages sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. Mostly they don't work, and when they do they are very slow and don't always load pictures, video, etc. The other computers and devices in my network have no problem with the internet connection. My computer connected perfectly before the new modem was installed, and it works when it is plugged in directly ( it was plugged in the entire time the cable guy was setting up the network). I tried running the diagnostic tool and sometimes it says that the dns server isn't responding and other times it says it can't find the problem or that it can't find any problem.
I use IE 8 to go to 192.168.0.1 as per what the cable modem says for connection, and I get nothing. So call the cable modem provider, they said it's their modem switch to a new modem, got the same error, then I somehow I can go to 192.168.0.1, but still no internet connection I try all the trick below still nothing

View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded my DSL service, which required installing a new VDSL modem/wireless router (Actiontec c1000a.) Before the upgrade, I was using an older standalone DSL modem with a Netgear router to provide wireless access to my gaming consoles, laptop, etc. Everything works as before with my new wireless router EXCEPT my son's laptop. All my consoles, iPods, and desktop CAN connect to the wireless network, and the laptop will connect over a WIRED ethernet connection. I cannot get it to connect to the wifi.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a modem/software issue when dialing into my ISP. Modem seems to handshake correctly with the ISP, password is accepted, then I get the normal message "Registering the Computer on the Network". This never goes away ( it should in a few seconds) and the machine freezes with no cursor/mouse movement or keyboard. Only way to get out of this is to hold the power button until computer powers down. Reloaded the modem driver. Tried an external USB modem and the same thing happens. Used another computer of the same make and model and it works fine on the same phone line/ISP.
